Sigh....another reader who only scans a post and jumps to conclusions. I never said war was good for the ecomomy...another poster said that the rich profit off the war...I was just pointing out that TEMPORARILY war benefits in SOME ways to a lot of people. You don''t have the corner on not liking wars...so stop being a pompous snob.

I''m only back for a minute and first I''ll say I thank your son for his service and his family for their sacrifice as well. But I did not state a half truth. Number one many of those products are not made in the U.S. any longer. Just ask John McCain. One of his aides just made sure as a lobbyist that a huge contract went to Airbus not Boeing. He knows all about it. This war has been long more than large, it is not spread all over Europe, the Pacific arena and Africa. It is centered in one small place. There has been very little economic benefit from this war. Haliburton and its subsidiaries like Kellogg, Brown and Root have prospered and other private security contractors (mercanaries) have benefited. But Haliburton has moved its corporate offices out of the U.S. and no longer pay U.S. taxes if my understanding is correct. I actually agree with Sharn Cedar (hello Sharn Cedar) that this war has really not brought about any kind of real economic expansion nor physical expansion of any kind. Just like other nations and empires in the past we are discovering that prolonged war is not good for the well-being of a nation. Not politically, economically, mentally, or spiritually. I hope that your son can come home safe and soon and stay here. Eight deployments is way too many.
