Comments on: Florida, Michigan Primary Do-Overs?
Increasing Calls For New Vote In States Disqualified By Democratic Party
- Will you ignorant people stop crying for the voters in Fl. and Mich. Their votes have been surpressed by the very people whom they voted in office. All of a sudden Gov. Crist and Gov Granholm want to undo what they have already done. These morons are the ones that need to be criticised..not Obama or the DNC. If they allow the votes to count then what happens in 2012 when 4, 5, 0r 10 other states decide to move their primaries outside of the allocated time periods becuase they no there isn''''t a penalty. What you will have is utter confusion and chaos. Rules are set for a reason, and to purposefully disregard them is a violation. Period. Crist and Granholm should not be re-elected in the state for any office because of their negligence.

- Latinos do not speak for Blacks either. Black people are out on a limb in this country. No group in this country cares about the issues that affect Black people. Now, the Latinos when they break into this country, the first group that they run to are the Blacks. They come sying, " help us get our Civil Rights"! But when they achieve a measure of success, they move on and trample those same Black folks that helped them when they needed help! No, Blacks do not speak for Latinos, neither do Latinos speak for Blacks! Barack is a far better candidate than Hillary. The Latinos, who think that they are white, will cast their vote against Barack for fear of what he may or may not do for Blacks. Latinos will be the death of Black people if Black people do not wake up!

- Obama wasn''''t born in IL,
wasn''''t raised in IL,
and wasn''''t educated in IL....
even though he has always been very comfortable with the FIXERS.
Why are you being unfair to Hillary?

You just make stuff up as you go along. He did live in Chicago and did work in Chicago. Hillary never did anything in NY, and other than political fundraisers, probably has spent 100 in NY in her life. - Reply to this comment
- Punish the state party organizers in Michigan and Florida. Remove them from office. But to abandon the wishes of the people is unforgivable in a country which claims democracy still thrives. It''s voting irregularities exactly like this which gives the USA a rating of only 17th in world democracies. In democratic elections, we rated only 26th in the world. http://www.economist.com/media/pdf/DEMOCRACY_INDEX_2007_v3.pdf In 2000 Florida democrats were disenfranchised in the general election, now in the 2008 primaries. Throw the debacle in Texas and Nevada on top and its no wonder Russia is laughing at us. Their election, so far, was more democratic than ours.

- They made a decision way back when and they should be forced to live with it.

The two states made the decision to violate DNC rules when they moved their primaries up too early. Simple as that.
The two states want to violate rules and not have repercussions for doing so. Sounds like something Bush would do. - Reply to this comment
- Actually, if you try out the delegate calculator at Slate.com you''ll see that Hillary can''t win enough delegates in popular voting, even with 100% of Michigan and Florida''s delegates, to win the nomination. The only way she can be nominated is through superdelegate votes or Obama pulling out of the race. Don''t believe me? Try it for yourself. She would have to either win all remaining states by a 20% margin; if Obama won any more states then her margin has to increase everwhere else. THE RACE IS OVER AND OBAMA HAS WON.
As to the specific question, Obama and the other candidates had every right to believe they were playing by the rules when they didn''t participate in the Michigan and Florida primaries that the party had ruled ineligible, so the only fair way to include those states is a do-over, not taking the skewed results where Hillary is the only participant. Florida''s Republican governor and legislature especially need to be forced to pay for a new primary as punishment for their arrogant attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the opposition party... - Reply to this comment

Were you unaware that your vote wouldn''t be counted when you voted?
Did you contact the Democratic officials in Michigan to reinstate the proper date for the primary so your vote would count.
NO - you just want Hillary to win and the only way that can happen is to change the rules that EVERYBODY was aware of and decided to let it go forward as such - but then complain about it afterward - Reply to this comment
- "Let me see if I have this right, as I do live in Michigan. GO BLUE Now they are saying that mine, along with every one else''''s vote, isn''''t going to count. I thought it was one vote for one man and that everybody''''s vote counted.
