Comments on: Is Nader Planning Another Run?
Two-Time Presidential Candidate To Appear On Meet The Press To Discuss Possible White House Bid
- mh4cbs1 - I know Nader got seat belts mandatory, but I did not know about the cockpit door attempt. A shame.
Thank you for posting.
P.S. I won''t blindly label you as a blood sucker, or anything else. Your posts are too interesting to be considered shilling for any single political party and it''s obvious you like to think. :) - Reply to this comment
- Clarification - the candidate must convince the voters to vote. Nader could only get 3% of the vote. Gore''s own campaign was pretty lax and he came across like a robot during Campaign 2000. While there were other factors involved for that election, Nader is merely used as a scapegoat.
And having said all that, even Ross Perot gave up running after 1996, after 2 failed attempts... came across idiotic in his 2nd attempt, and made an interesting point about that "great sucking sound" so it''s a shame he lost the first time... But I digress. Nader wanting to lose a third seems odd, but that''s his choice. - Reply to this comment
- sleepyric - as if a national average of 3% harmed anyone.
BTW, I voted for Gore and given what he writes in his chicken little books vs his own actions that suggest his writings are nowhere near as imminent or as dire as he claims, and judging by his own actions as a board of director, I''m just about glad he lost. (He''s been with Apple since 2003, and even with Greenpeace lambasting the company in 2007, his clout in the company must be very little if HP and even Dell did more with product recycling, batteries, and other environmentally-friendly acts...) - Reply to this comment
- Its remarkable to see all these ignorant posts, from people brainwashed by the corporate media.
Educate yourselves about the accomplishments of this man - he is truly a citizen''''s hero, responsible for initiating and countless consumer safety laws and advocate organizations, environmental laws, and open-government laws.
Incidentally, he pushed for secure steel cockpit doors years ago, but was defeated by the airline corporations. Had they listened, we would not have had 9-11.
You sad pathetic people. Look at your sick Democratic Party. Corrupt to the core. A handful of party hack ''''superdelegates'''' have more voting power than the combined millions of Democratic voters in 21 states!
Your party supported the Bush Invasion of Iraq, the ongoing post-cold-war spending of $500 BILLION/YEAR military budget (not including the Iraq BILLIONs).
Your party supported the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA. Kerry''''s first declaration after getting the nomination was that he would reduce corporate taxes. Your Party took ''''impeachment'''' of a war criminal and constitution shredder "off the table". Hillary''''s health care plan is to FORCE everyone to BUY for-profit, corporate health insurance.
You pathetic idiots. Nader is running because the Democratic Party abandoned you long ago.

- The purpose for which he runs is to be the "spoiler". It actually works very well. At least you have someone else to vote for when Repbulican or Democratic nominees are people you do not want to vote for. That is why he runs.

- I voted for him in 2000. I didn''t want Gore or Bush to win. I knew he wasn''t going to win, but I wasn''t going to vote for the other two idiots, either. I still say Gore was the real winner that year.

Stop your pathetic Democratic whining. Ralph did not ''suck'' votes from Gore. People voted FOR Nader because they were sick of the seeing the Democrats cave in to corporate lobbyists. Gore couldn''t even win his own state.
Did you hear Republicans whine about the Bush loss and blame Ross Perot in 1992? Did you see them abandon their core values? Did you see them leave their base voters in a dash for the "scenter"? NO. The Republicans re-grouped, made their case, and took over Congress in 1994!
By contrast the Democrats continue to cave to the "center", giving Bush a blank check on invading Iraq, shredding the constitution, tax cuts for the rich, support for the ongoing war, funding bloated military budgets...
The Democratic Party is corrupt to the core, and the only thing that will shake them up is a challange to their power. All they have to do is run on Nader''s issues for the average citizen and he wouldn''t have to run. - Reply to this comment

- Hey Ralph...stay at home...you''re the one who sucked votes away from Gore and gave Bush his first election, or had you forgotten that?

- Mr. Nader''s strange assymetrical facial expression is indicative of a number of possibilities worthy of concern.
Has he, a., had a stroke, and if so, how possible is another one while in office?
b., a different affliction, such as Bell''s palsy, which while not necessarily fatal, can impair his ability to function at important times.
c., simply caught saying something which he knows is a lie, as most people have an almost subconscious reflex to avert their orientation away from the party to which the lie is being told, some politicians do it so often that their face becomes permanently skewed to one side. Your grandmother used to call it "lying through the side of his/her face"... - Reply to this comment

He already kept an environmental leader out of the White House in favor of GW Bush...
Now he''ll try and keep the first Black nominee out of the White House...

"History is bunk" said Henry Ford-- but history lives on, and Ford does not. History is the record of collective experiments which even you ignore at your peril. History is a vital part of your own education.
With all due respect, Nader is from the 21st century, and American politics from the 19th. Nader''s ideas about democracy are fresh and current, a radical improvement on "mainstream" American politics.
For at least a moment, shelve your a priori objection to Nader and read "Crashing the Party", recounting how Democrats and GOP, alike, worked seamlessly together to keep real issues out of the public forum. Then, you will understand where the real fossils live
As a former Nader critic, I have come to admire his admirable grit and clear focus. Nader''s font of inconvenient truths drives many to distraction, both Democrat and GOP.
Long may he run! .- Reply to this comment

You bridle about Michelle Obama''s candid remarks, but have said little or nothing about the orchestrated saccharine verbal deceits from the Clinton camp.
After remarks about Obama, they apologized, but only after getting the desired media attention. Next, they resurfaced, for good measure, with a charge of plagiarism.
It seems you might find the greater wrong in calculated injury-- yes, even at the expense of truth-- than violation of any supposed decorum from press flaks, managers and "handlers"-- of which most American voters are more than distrustful and resentful.
For somebody who claims to support Obama, you seem to miss the point of his candidacy entirely. When the mass of voters finds few leaders willing to listen, and more than willing to deliver speeches from their handlers, we can presume the rare candid remarks will be at least interesting. Call it "reality politics"-- America hungers for it. - Reply to this comment
