In her adult life America has elected women and minorities to the US Senate and Congress. They have been appointed to the Supreme Court, held cabinet positions become CEOs and on and on.
We have fought conflicts overseas returned victorious. We have contributed untold dollars to combat AIDS, famine, help Tsunami and hurricane victims.
She can try to clear this up. But for me watching it, she looked like she thought quite hard before she said what she did...

I liked Cindy McCain getting the garbage layup. She''s a real Stepford Wife. If we are proud of our country no matter what it does, that''s a Stepford mentality. I''ve been damned mad about some things our leaders (Bush, Cheney, Congress, McCain, etc.) have said and done. I''m forever proud to be an American, but NOT invariably proud of America. I think a President like Barack Obama would make me proud of America a lot more than I have been in recent years.

I have a new phrase- "Obama-bots"
Unlike "Bushbots", Obamabots have a bias liberal news outlet to protect him from any self inflicted damage. In fact, you don''t even need a platform to be an Obama-bot. All you need to do is repeat the phrase:
"Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope, Change & Hope"

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY. IN MICHELLES 2O YEARS OF ADULT LIFE SHE ONLY NOW IS PROUD OF AMERICA. AMERICA HAS DONE SO MUCH GOOD IN THE PAST TWENTY YEARS AND THEN SOME AND, NO THE SPIN JUST WON''T WORK FOR SOME OF US.

For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change." Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential contender John McCain, saying "I have, and always will be, proud of my country."

there was nothing wrong with her comment. it is taken out of context. she is excited and feels a different type of excitement and pride. this election year is full of firsts and she is part of it.

she should be proud of her country. before now, a black man, a woman and a mormon would have never been concidered for pres. something to be proud of, especially going this far in the elections.

it shows the prejudices are lessening, and i am sure she feels pride because of it.

she had no choice but to explain her words. havent you ever said something and had to explain it because soom nut wanted to take it out of context. if not, maybe you should run for pres. or better yet, i guess you can throw the first stone.

she had to rephrase because of the idiots out there trying to stir trash.

think about it, it does not take a brain surgeon to figure that out.

If she can''t speak clear thoughts and her husband has to tell us what she really thinks, what kind of WhiteHouse couple is this?! This is an inexperianced couple with no right to lead a nation of Americans who need clarity and specifics.

Xlib,

You won''t find too many historians or economists that will agree with your version of history. What does the fact that the SC struck down parts of the New Deal have to do wuth the fact that what was enacted saved the economy?

What does the fact that the depression was worldwide have to do with the fact that the recovery saved capitalism in this country at a time when most of the world was being consumed by fascism and communism?

william19491-Xlib you are 100% correct....YADA YADA YADA.

Michelle Obama is what she is, unlike her husband, an unskilled speaker. She would benefit herself to listen more speak less. The implication of her quote was clear, as she is ignorant not to expect the American People to draw reference & react. It was clear that the black activist part of her came to light. And, as much as the Barack people are trying to not highlight this aspect of their politics and lives, Michelle opened the gate. Her comment is offensive to some and all have a right to their opinion of this women as she may just be our next first lady. The media spin of her naivety is just a little old and used. The media gives the Obama''s a pass on everything. Look what happened to McCain today, If this happened to the Obama''s, watch out, media gonna get you! The lady is militant and uncontrollable. She doesn''t fool me and I admit that is probably a minority opinion. Man, how many mistakes can she make and be excused for. She has very little class - she announces on GMA that she will have to think long and hard on if she would support the democratic nominee if her husband wasn''t elected - What kind of American & Democrat is she anyway.

Xlib,

You can thank Eisenhower & Dulles for Vietnam, they made the decision to not allow democratic election. "If the election were held today Ho Chi Minh would get 80% of the vote."_Dwight Eisenhower.

JFK wanted to pull our advisers out but was assassinated by the CIA so he wouldn''t.

S o don''t thank me, I had nothing to do with it.

william19491,

Loving America means wanting the best for your country and hating when something or someone is standing in the way.

It seems that conservatives think it''s patriotic to attack Democrats and their policies but treason when the shoe is on the other foot.

We all are inherently proud to be Americans. However, we all are not so proud of things done in America''s name. Did Monicagate make you proud to be an American?
How about Somalia? How about the LA riots?

When citizens are not proud of the actions taken by their government in their name it doesn''t make them America haters it shows that they give a ***.

I can sure understand Michelle''s remarks. No black person has been proud of the American Heritage and she is no exception from it. Wait till she goes thru
the streets of Bronx in NY.

Regarding your last rant, truthspeaks, by the way, what truth DO you speak?? Isn''t it according to you or just what? Enlighten this Xlib who campaigned for Johnson, back in the day. Anyway, sweetie, I do believe Jackie''s daddy was known as Black Jack Bouvier (sp?) and had some dabblings in booze. That being said, just what is your hard on for McCain''s wife??? You do realize that YOUR party is no longer the party of "pull yourself up" anymore? Right?? Just look at kerry and where he got his money. So tell us how hard michelle obama had it?? Did she go to Harvard or Yale. See, sweetie, I don''t begrudge someone, anyone who has money. You, my dear, seem to harbor ill will towards a conservative with money but think it''s ok for a dem to be rich, ala the clintons.
As for me, not that it''s any of your business since I''m not running for office but I grew up big tim blue collar, inner city Philly. Put myself through school, etc, etc-AND YOU??

Oh truthspeaks, no party does dirty tricks, pandering, using race baiting, class envy better than yours. As for greed, your clintons cannot be topped. Tell me, truthy, just WHAT has your party done lately??? Other than your congress having lower than low approval ratings, looking into that pesky HGH issue in sports, and other nonsensical garbage, just what??? AS for the previous dem administration, great job on ignoring growing terrorism, not taking binLaden, making over 40 people "go away", WHAT??!!
You are so typical and so 60''s it isn''t funny. TRy pulling the race card and don''t forget envy, and pandering to special interest groups.
I''ll take your harold ickes and rohm emanuel for my Karl Rove.

commonsense,

It''s pretty clear that you wouldn''t be able to recognize true socialism if it bit you in the ***.

If it weren''t for FDR bringing democratic liberalism to the White House in 1933 we wouldn''t have capitalism today, it would''ve already committed suicide at the hands of Hoover & Coolidge.

If Clinton hadn''t balanced the budget that Reagan shot to hell and restructured our debt we would still have double digit unemploymentand would all be learning to speak Chinese.

Once again, it''s time for a Democrat to come in and clean up the elephant ***!

When are you guys ever going to learn to clean up your own messes and stop leaving it on the backs of our kids.

Family values indeed!
