Finewoven, any god that already KNOWS who is chosen yet places millions upon millions, billions in fact, of people in situations to see how they act for the h e l l of it is not a god that I would ever subscribe to. Likewise, any politician that follows this idea of a god is not fit to run America and should not be trusted.

Go to your church and tell them you need financial help and see what you get.

I prefer to give. I am financially well situated, healthy, and keep a positive attitude. Some of the benefits of belief, where words are supported by actions.

Candide777, Think about a guy that walks around in San Francisco today wearing thongs and a toga, has long hair, a beard, has a bunch of hanger-ons that sing songs and profess love for the world, that spreads good news and has tolerance for everyone and everything, that does not have a job yet tells anyone with money to give it to the poor.

You''re preaching to the choir. :-)

Of course, the evangelicals would absolutely crucify him were he alive today!

adasher1, sorry but I don''t feel obligued to preach to you or anyone else. My knowledge base is founded on more than just Western Civilization''s Biblical references. If you are looking for someone who wishes to distill their faith to dissuade you of from your disbelief, I''m sure there are several priests and preachers, gurus, imams, and the like who would help you become more enlightened, if that is your destiny.

I will tell you, I see it all over the world that "many are called few are chosen."

finewoven, The similarities of a church and a union are this%u2026..both are a group of people that collect money for the betterment of their position in life and that of their family. Neither pays taxes and both meddle in politics. Both have a strong voice in politics because both have millions of dollars that blood thirsty politicians want. Both allege to be looking out for the little guy yet both have extravagant buildings and vacation properties and the top people do not pay for their cars and homes.

I subscribe to neither but I am smart enough to see the difference%u2026..Unions actually DO help the little guy that is going broke in America while churches do not care. Unions also provide a tangible service where as churches provide only fear and hate. Go to your church and tell them you need financial help and see what you get.

Jessie Davis, a 27-year-old mother of three from Inman, S.C., held her youngest, 8-month old Abbie, in her arms. Davis said the No. 1 thing that attracted her to Huckabee was "Christian values."

"He''s going to ask God what do before he asks somebody else," Davis said after the rally. "God designed everything. He knows how it''s supposed to work."

Do you the "He" that this lady is referring to is Huckabee or God? This is the confusion that politics and religion play against each other.

I don''''t condone it and neither should you.
Posted by realpatriot1 at 04:33 PM : Jan 11, 2008

What I don''t condone is irrational thought and living life in fear. If someone insisted that 2 plus 2 was equal to 5, and I pointed out how absurdly incorrect he was, would you accuse me of hating that person and of being a bigot?

Just because I point out the absurdity and irrationality of religion doesn''t make me a bigot. Let''s face it, the emperor has no clothes. It''s no coincidence that it was a child (unadulterated by fear and shame) who pointed that out to the townspeople.

You missed the part of healing those who were sick, feeding large masses of people, and raising a few from have passed away. That''''s the unique part that hasn''''t been provided since. Posted by finewoven

Finwoven, prove it to me. Prove to me that some guy walked around and healed people. Tell me why this person walked around such a small area of civilization while you are at it. Tell me also why the Dead Sea Scrolls and other manuscripts found in places like the Judean Desert that are attributed to some of the same writers of your bible talk about a Jesus that killed people. Why not prove those hidden manuscripts wrong while you prove the wonderful healing works right? Oh, one other question%u2026since this god knows everything, why leave children suffering in hospitals all over the world? Tell him to come and heal them and he will get my ten percent in his Sunday morning plate. Oh, and ask him to make me a sandwich. The bible says that whatsoever you shall ask for in his name, it will be granted. Make it corn beef and mustard with swiss. If this does not come true, you are a fool for remaining under the spell.

Yet, they have NOT made moves to have every CHURCH member vote as to where the money that THEY give goes. Why?
Posted by adasher1 at 04:50 PM : Jan 11, 2008

How odd that you would expect churchs to ******* like unions. To you figure they are the same thing. Do participants of union pray to a higher power?
