All McCain would have to do is promise to push through steep tax increases to support the war.

All the war supporters would cut and run.

McCain is a hero, no doubt. but are the mental scars of being a POW to much for him to handle as a pres?

"We lost World War I precisely because of defeatists like you..."

"The stab-in-the-back legend (German: Dolchstosslegende, literally "Dagger stab legend") refers to a social myth and persecution-propaganda theory popular in Germany in the period after World War I through World War II. It attributed Germany"s defeat to a number of domestic factors instead of failed militarist geostrategy. Most notably, the theory proclaimed that the public had failed to respond to its "patriotic calling" at the most crucial of times and some had even intentionally "sabotaged the war effort."

"Der Dolchstoss" is cited as an important factor in Adolf Hitler"s later rise to power, as the Nazi Party grew its original political base largely from embittered WWI veterans, and those who were sympathetic to the Dolchstoss interpretation of Germany"s then-recent history."

McCain all the way!

If you really believe all of the B.S. you are spewing, then you get in touch with McCain and tell him to make reinstating the draft a fundamental part of his campaign.

Then and only then will I believe that McCain believes that piddling away our blood in the Middle East is vital to the nation''s survival.

I wouldn''t dispute the G. Bush screwed up going to Iraq. He did. We need to hand control to Iraqi''s and get out, it''s a fact. The fact is that we can''t hand that *** of a dirt clod back to them till they''re ready to take it. They aren''t. We must stay the course until we''ve reached our goals. McCain all the way!

Vietnam War Revisionism is the ugliest manifestation of the pro-war side.

It"s right up there with the revisionist propaganda about World War I that was circulating in Germany in the 1930s.

"We lost in Viet Nam precisely because of defeatists like you" is a line of *** anyway.

We LEFT Vietnam because:

A) We weren''t willing to erase the peoples of Vietnam from the face of the earth

and

B) We could NOT stop the flow of arms to them unless we were willing to attack the armaments production and supply infrastructure in both China and the former Soviet Union simultaneously

C) We didn''t want to force our children and grandchildren to face growing up with the a multi-generational meat grinder

Unfortunately, those immoral *** wealthy elitist in PNAC and the White House have no such qualms, because they know they won''t have any trouble quashing an attempt to restart the draft and their children and grandchildren will never serve in the Middle East pursuing whatever the hell the lie of the day is.

We should pass the baton to the Iraqi government.

The freely elected Iraqi government.

They will defeat the remnants of the insurgents, and the precious oil will be safe.

If they can"t, after almost 4 years of preparation, then all the past pro-war propaganda has been a pack of lies.

You people think voting Democrap and then taking a policy of "give up,run and hide from our enemys" is going to bring peace in this world? Good luck with that. As for "Our goals", how about stability in the mid east for once? Just because it''s hard is no excuse to give up. You think $100/bbl for oil is bad with your gas hog SUVs? Wait till our enemys control the oil. I promise they''re going to make you cry.

"Iraq isn"t Vietnam."

Trying to refight the last war is the most common blunder of the military mind.

The slaughters of World War I, where masses off infantry were sent in suicidal charges against machine guns, was an attempt to refight the Napoleonic Wars of earlier generations.

We cannot and should not try to refight Vietnam in Iraq.

But it''s what fools always want to do.
