Well written speeches and well delivered speeches do not a good president make. Look no further than the current president. Bush gives impassioned speeches -- well written by others. A good point to speculate on since that is what the "reporters" and anchors a lot is to ask why Edwards attacks Hillary and leaves Obama alone.

Could be he too is afraid of being called racist.

Could also be that he is now really running for veep. In the general the veep candidate is used as the hatchet man in order to allow the prexy guy to be above it -- just like Obama claims he is. Edwards is acting now as Obama''s hatchet man in his attacks on Hillary.

On a more serious note, the "Christian Nation" theory gets refuted time and again, but why not one more time. Read the Treat of Tripoli. Written in 1797, it states, and I quote, "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." It was unanimously ratified by the senate and President Adams, and before you mitigate its importance, keep in mind that every word was read to the senators, and printed copies were produced for everyone. They ratified it with that phrase anyway, in only their 3rd unanimous vote. The treaty was also printed in its entirety in three newspapers, without so much as a squeak of protest. Odd for a Christian nation, huh?

I know you have trouble understanding that a nation whose population is overwhelmingly Christian isn%u2019t a Christian nation, I will forgive the lack of understanding. But honestly, the past matters very little in matters like this. If you want to make this a Christian nation now, then put it up for a vote. I bet it loses, but at least you%u2019ll know for sure we aren%u2019t some kind of watered down theocracy.
