a lesson in buying the white house

"ABC News'' John Berman Reports: Mitt Romney continues to pour millions into his bid for the White House but refuses to say how much.

Speaking to reporters in Johnston, Iowa, Romney, R-Mass., acknowledged he is "sure" he has put more of his own personal wealth into his campaign but would not provide an exact figure.

In the first nine months of 2007, Romney, who made a fortune in private business, contributed roughly $17 million dollars to his own campaign. He has spent at least $7 million of that figure in Iowa on a massive media campaign that includes a barrage of attack ads against his chief rival, former governor Mike Huckabee, R-Ark."

I was campaigning for Ron Paul last weekend and was surprised at all the thumbs up, victory signs and horn honking we received. The American people are beginning to see through this corrupt media complex manipulating American voters.

Edwards, I see, as their last ditch option to back if the American people were to wise up and support Paul, Kucinich, Gravel or a REAL...not a Bloomberg...independent.

Supporting someone simply to get us out of the war is admirable, but short sighted. Ron Paul would get us out of the war and possibly lead us to more economic freedom, but social security, medicare, medicaid and virtually all social programs would be cut or eliminated (if he had his way).

We need someone to lead us out of the war immediately, but not someone who will dessimate our social programs along the way.

Paul is a darling of the wealthy who have no connection to the war industry. His real supporters are those who want to eliminate transfer payments of all kinds.

Change the system: Have California, New York, Florida, Texas, and then Michigan or Illinois in the first week of primaries. ( I do not live in any of these.) Then have 5 a week, one from each region, roughly, a week afterwords.

I like the idea!!! (About time somebody thought of it.)

Though I think the order should be tweaked each year so that the most populus state votes first, the second most the next, then third most, etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_population

Then, and even more importantly, DO AWAY WITH THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM!!! It was probably the best way to run the election process back in the days of the pony express, but I think that we''re way beyond those times now.

This country cannot endure two things: a dynasty or a theocracy. We''ve already seen the result of a father to son presidency ala Bush: utter corruption of our government and total shredding of the Constitution. We don''t need another Clinton in office either. This is like the wife in South America that was elected president because her husband couldn''t run for another term. We don''t want to be another banana republic. members of the same family should not be permitted to run for president. it''s too dangerous.

We also don''t need a theocracy. With Huckabee and Romney we tread too close to the edge. We have all seen what theocracy did in Afghanistan under the Taliban. The ultra right wing evangelicals are our homegrown Taliban. It''s bad enough they''ve had their little "saved" stooge in our White House for the past 7 years. Another four would kill this country. Voting for someone because of their religious beliefs as the primary criteria is voting for the death of our democracy. Our nation has been brought to the brink by faith. Let''s not kick it into the pit.

"Render unto God what is God''s. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar''s" I believe a really famous holy man once said that. If you believe in him, obey what he said.

"You''ll never lose money underestimating the stupidity of the American people," a sage, if cynical American once said. Indeed, the same trash who gave us Bush are rallying behind Hucksterbee...a man whose fair tax will put the tax burden of the US squarely upon the shoulders of the middle class and allow profits to flow abroad untaxed. This is a man who will continue and expand Bush''s Stupid Peoples'' War...and the people who back him will see their son''s and daughters come back, unheralded to Dover...

...this is a man who knows how to make friends and influence people...he has the oily and ingratiating falseness of a used car salesman or a teleevangelist.

Do you really want the same b*stards who are behind Bush to run things for another four years? If you do, you have a big field to choose from...Hucksterbee, McClown, Romney,Giuliani on the Republican side...Clinton, Obama, Richardson, Edwards on the Democratic side....Pick your poison...

Neither gender matter...what matters is who pulls the strings behind the scenes...who is backing these candidates...

Clinton has loads of defense dollars, Israel-first support and so does Obama...The people behind General Dynamics didn''t support him because he is a ''nice young man''--and they will get what they paid for, or else...JFK a moldering in his grave should be proof enough of that...and not surprisingly, some of Oswald''s closest associates had GD ties....

Obama says we need to "take out" 20-30 thousand "activist extremists" in Iraq...he is not going to bring the troops home...in all likelihood, there will be a continuation and expansion of the Stupid Peoples'' War under an Obama administration-- or Clinton...or Richardson...or, even Edwards...the Bilderbergers don''t invite you to their confabs if you aren''t going to play their game. Edwards, I see, as their last ditch option to back if the American people were to wise up and support Paul, Kucinich, Gravel or a REAL...not a Bloomberg...independent.

Seriously, why do these tiny, backwater states even matter?
A bunch of white farmers in Iowa have the pulse of America? This is a sick joke right

Why can two tiny, non-representive of the rest of the nation, make or break a candidicy? By the time I get to vote, it will be decided. Most people live in the 5 states I named. Have the polls open all week, with th eresults released on Saturday. From there you will have a much better, and more accurate numbers, per party.

I like Huckabee as well. He seems genuine and that is a relief, but he supports the war and that is not a Christian position. He also also puts religious dogma before science in that he doesn''t beleive in evolution. That is just crazy. His tax plan leaves quite a bit to be desired, in that it doesn''t account for cheating or for progessive tax rates on the wealthy.

I''ll vote for someone from the party of compassion, who will get us out of the war and who believes in science as well. Maybe John Edwards, possibly Barack Obama.

Donbl, Nobody beats the shrub for the title of worst president in the last seventy five years, if not ever. He has taken our country in directions I am ashamed of; he has squandered our good will abroad and our treasure. I hope the public has had enough of incompetent, near-sighted, right-wing leadership!

The primaries being so early in the process will also not give us the choices for President we may need in November.

The Nixon scandal/resignation and the resulting Ford pardon of Nixon resulted in Carter becoming President.

The Carter Presidency was arguably the worst in modern times.

The reaction of the voters then is similar to what is approaching now.

The primaries being so early in the process will also not give us the choices for President we may need in November.

Why I Like Mike Huckabee

When I look at a candidate I try to get past the latest media news flash and look at kitchen table issues. I''m a meat and potatos kind of guy and look at the candidates in this way.

I like Mike Huckabee because -

1 - He is for the santity of life from conception. He''s never wavered, changed his mind or flip-floped on this issue

2 - He''s for the right to bare arms - Mike went hunting the other day and I found he was a man who can talk 12 gauge shotguns, shoot strait and actually brought home his share of game. Real hunters can do that.

3 - Mike is for sealing the border. While some people quivel over what to do, Mike makes no bones about his plan - seal the border with a deadline to do it and have the illegals go home. Yes we need their labor. Mike wants them to later return with there heads held high because they came back the legal way

4 - Mike is for energy independence in 10 years. This is the most impotant issue to me. 65% of our oil coming from overseas can no longer be tolerated

5 - He''s for the "Fair Tax". This is a totally new concept to tax you on what you consum, not what you make. The plan also has a provision to protect the poor.

6 - Finally he''s a great communicator. He''ll need to be to get these things done.

When Huckabee becomes President, the national anthem will be replaced with "Onward Christian Soldiers." Science will be replaced with the Bible, and Jesus will be the Vice President. At the Huckabee inauguration, we will party like it''''s 1959!

You may have forgotten that prayer is a form of talking to god and to the best of my knowledge every person who has occupied the whitehouse was a christian in name at least and would have prayed (talked} to god.
