Unexpected Move Centers On Provision That Could Freeze Iraqi Assets In The U.S.
- Freezing the current Iraq''''s money while they are attempting to rebuild is selfish and rewards the few at the expense of the many. In addition, the lawyers would be getting 30% fees which are mostly from the US tax payers.

Oh please, when all is said and done we the taxpayers would have poured over a trillion dollars into that sandpile, and talk about rewarding the few at the expense of many. We have probably lost more than 25 Billion in Halliburton "accounting errors" alone. - Reply to this comment

Saddam has sums in Europe and elsewhere. The better choice would be to identify those assets and freeze them for the Kurds, Shias and etc who have lost and cap lawyers fees. - Reply to this comment
- hard to believe that george w didn''t veto any republican bills earlier. now he can''t find any defense funding bill from democrats that he likes. he has vetoed almost everything. is this how he "works" with the new congress? this also shows how little george thinks of supporting our troops with funding.

What a surprise.

And what about the people the lawyers represent? Do you support having their legal rights abrogated? I think that this is a boneheaded idea, for are we not paying almost every single cent of their rebuilding costs, plus providing military equipment and training? So why do they need the money? - Reply to this comment
- Well I certainly agree with the Decider on this one. Giving troops a pay raise is like calling them welfare moms. Increasing funding for veterans is like calling them *******. And allowing victims of Saddam Hussein to sue, would be like making Germany give Jews reparations for the Holocaust.
How un-American!

- Anyone with the ability to "think for themselves" has long ago abandoned Bush and his version of the Republican party. What remains is an ugly, hate filled mob that responds on a purely emotional level.

Exactly! I would expect that the majority of those who approve of President Bush are also members of the group. Unfortunately, its a rather large group of people. - Reply to this comment

donbl1, I have to agree with statement. Thats all they need in Iraq is the ability to sue the government for actions of a dictator that predates its existance.
However, if they posting Mission Accomplished banners, I am going to go live on Island. - Reply to this comment
- I completely agree. We should start by banning the EIB network and get rid of those unpatriotic jerks. If we eliminate that blowhard we can force people to think for themselves and we can hope for change!

- It''''s so nice to hear from idiotic traitors like you all. It''''s is just too bad that none of you have the intelligence to think for yourselves and actually have some original thoughts. No, instead you repeat the talking points of those who hate this country and wouldn''''t fight for it for any reason.
