The U.S. military has returned 10 Saudi detainees from the Guantanamo Bay prison to their home country, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday.
The transfer cuts the number of men now held at the isolated U.S. Naval station in southeast Cuba to about 275, a decline of nearly a third in the last year.
About 136 of the 759 people detained at Guantanamo since 2002 have been Saudi, the second-largest group after Afghans. The vast majority have been repatriated - despite the fact that more than 90 percent are still considered a terrorist threat.
The U.S. agreed to return the men with the understanding that Saudi Arabia will mitigate that risk, partly through a state program to reintegrate former detainees into civilian life, said Navy Cmdr. Jeffrey Gordon, a Defense Department spokesman.
Their detention has been a source of strain with Riyadh, a close U.S. ally. - Reply to this comment

- It''s so nice to hear from idiotic traitors like you all. It''s is just too bad that none of you have the intelligence to think for yourselves and actually have some original thoughts. No, instead you repeat the talking points of those who hate this country and wouldn''t fight for it for any reason. You people sicken me! If you hate our government and country so much, then get the He!! OUT! You people are disgusting, low lifes.

- It''s hard to believe anyone in this country believes anything Bush says anymore.
The only way this country is going to get back any semblance of honor or moral credibility would be to hold the current administration accountable for what they have done to us and the world.
Is there anyone out there that will do that? No. Because every President R or D from now on will want all the unconstitutional powers that this administration has awarded itself.
You are witnessing the end of America.
"America", so last century.
The American ideal is already over. - Reply to this comment

- On September 14,2002 Rep. James McDermott at a Capitol Hill Briefing said that politics and oil, not fear that Iraq will use WMD are driving factors behind the presidents call for regime change. McDermott said there was an organized effort to squelch such discussions. "The political operatives in the white house have been very careful to spin it away from oil. Anytime anybody sees a connection they spin it the other way".
Who''s in charge of the National Media outlets? Why does the administration spin the news and prevent journalists from covering the real agenda? The administration cloaks the truth under the veil of national security. On September 14,2002 Rep. James McDermott said: "Political operatives in the white house have been very careful to spin it away from oil. Anytime anyone sees a connection they spin it the other way". - Reply to this comment
- Iraq is worried about losing the billions they have in reserve?
Wasn''t it chaney that said Iraq''s oil reserves would pay for the war and not the American tax payer?
Am I missing something here? Or was bush/chaney just lying again? - Reply to this comment

As was already pointed out, it''s a PT Barnam quote and the second part (probably not attributable to WC) reads;%u201D And two born to take him"
Now let''s see...who could those two possibly be?
Bush & Cheney? Rumsfeld & Gonzolaz? Rice & Wolfowitz? The list goes on and on!
Too many choices! How about, "and a party called The GOP (Greedy Outlaw Parasites) to take him? - Reply to this comment

Even more fun, he will have to explain how Iraqis being investigated of stealing the money entrusted to them should not have assets frozen, and how corrupt, thieving politicians (himself included) is actually helping to rebuild anything, and lastly, why he is so anxious to help them get away with the corruption. - Reply to this comment

I certainly hope they do. Any delay in getting money to the troops is now Bush''s fault. He would have to explain to them why is was so important for him to deny AMERICANS (NOT Iraqi''s) the right to recompense for Saddams abuses. I''m sure he''ll have a pleasant time doing that. And while he''s explaining, they''ll be asking themselves "we''re dying in Iraq for THIS?"
