"You''re almost right, my friend. Libertarianism is THE premier ideology used to deny the rights of the majority. And that''s a WONDERFUL thing. Our founding fathers understood this and as such established the USA as a Constitutional Republic. This means rights SHOULD be denied to the Majority and given to the smallest minority of all, not the elite rich, but the individual! They believed that our rights cannot be infringed upon by any group, irrespective of size. Your logic seems flawed in that you believe someone''s rights must be denied to ensure another''s. You also seem to imply that is would be OK for the poor and weak to subjugate the rich so long as there are more poor people then rich..."

Well thank goodness.

I wondered where the Libertarians were.

A little testing of the waters eh?

Ooops. Take your foot back out.

Just because you''re the one person on the block with a billion dollars doesn''t give you the right to enslave all others and claim you''re a repressed minority.

Sheesh.

Now let me guess. You don''t want to talk about the Libertarians plans to do away with all public services, including even the most basic needs of a civilized society like public roads, education, and health care?

I didn''t think so.

Searing Truth - "The rich and powerful should be free to subjugate the poor and weak, so long as the poor and weak have an equal right to become rich and powerful. Of course this makes no sense at all. And in fact is simply the basic outline for any ideology ever used to deny the rights of the majority in favor of a small but powerful and rich elite minority."

The constitution ensures ALL people are equal and if we respected it a little more we would all be better off, rich and poor alike. This is Dr. Paul''s message and I can''t see how that should elicit such fear and venom in your postings. Good luck with your socialism. I hope it works out for you and pray you forever remain in the 51% on every issue.

I like Kucinich, Gravel made me chuckle - and I need that.
Sorry to hear you''re so disappointed as to not find even an Independent to support.

Many of my votes were "wasted" on candidates that didn''t win but for too many years I chose to NOT vote out of misguided fear that political activity while in military service was frowned on. I regret those years even if EVERY vote I had made was for a candidate that lost. It was a right that I did not respect as much as I feared consequences. It was foolish not to at least search for someone and vote.

I have to cut this short. There''s a young airman I''m taking to the airport to see her family and I need sleep before that long very early morning drive.

Best wishes.

BTW - having extensive experience with the way the VA and military medical (government run) services work I can tell you they are often on par or worse than the HMOs some of my relatives have also battled with.
If I want "better" care I pay out of my own pocket. Otherwise, it''s about as basic as it comes. That''s the irony. The promise of "lifetime health-care" was an empty promise - like help for Katrina/Rita victims and oh so many other pie in the sky "well-intentioned" programs. I''m a firm believer of oversight but what happens when those in charge of that oversight DON''T do their jobs?

Gotta sleep a bit Nite.

I would like to address closethippy1 - as a married woman, spending my hard earned money on Ron Paul, I am offended at your comment. You should check your facts. Ron gets the most donations from the military out of any other candidate. Why are people so swayed by the media and can not think for themselves. SAD. SAD. SAD.

My first and only experience with RP supporters was at a downtown area on a Saturday night. They''re young and standing outside the bar I''m heading to. I''m thinking, "College kids".
I didn''t mean to belittle any military personnel.

Presidential candidate Ron Paul keeps donation from white supremacist

Shape public opinion:

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 (%u20AC348) campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman does not plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.

Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, "White Pride World Wide." The site welcomes postings to the "Stormfront White Nationalist Community."

"Dr. Paul stands for freedom, peace, prosperity and inalienable rights. If someone with small ideologies happens to contribute money to Ron, thinking he can influence Ron in any way, he''''''''''''''''s wasted his money," Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said. "Ron is going to take the money and try to spread the message of freedom."

"And that''s $500 less that this guy has to do whatever it is that he does," Benton

Yes, he will pocket a billion or two just to sell you what you want to hear, just another bushwacker who read his history books - Hilter 3rd Reich.

Oh my goodness.

You''ve got to be kidding.

If it isn''t paid for and guaranteed by the public, then it isn''t a public service. Ron Paul wants to make all humanitarian public services Joseph Mengele based private services.

Like our long lost health care.

Both my mother and father were outright murdered by HMO''s, without contest or exaggeration.

But it was OK.

Because the HMO''s had run out of funds to care for patients those quarters, and naturally couldn''t spend profit money to care for the dying.

Sheesh.

Fellow patriot, I have often read your compelling posts in defense of our Democracy, and against Bush''s subversion of it. I am sorry that we find ourselves at odds about Ron Paul, but am happy to discuss my observations of him with you, and let you know who I support and why.

First of all, I don''t think there is much I need say about why I oppose Ron Paul other than what I have already said about all those who embrace the Libertarian philosophy.

The Libertarian ideology, all obfuscation aside, simply states that "The rich and powerful should be free to subjugate the poor and weak, so long as the poor and weak have an equal right to become rich and powerful."

And as I commented before, this is simply ridiculous. A group of weak and poor individuals have little chance of peace and prosperity when dominated by an unrestrained group of the rich and powerful.

So who do I support, and why?

No one. Because there is not one American running for office in the next elections.

Chris Dodd and Dennis Kucinich could deserve the votes of American citizens, but they refuse to leave the treasonous Democrats and run as Independents. And I don''t see any candidates in the treasonous Republican party I could vote for, even if they left and became Independents.

Ron Paul does NOT want to get rid of public services and protections as stated earlier, you are missing the whole point my friend. He would like to put all of these services in the hands of the states, and/or private sectors. That should not be the responsibility of the Federal Government! The world will not fall into darkness and chaos if the Federal Government shrinks to it''s proper size. Tell me, what is so wrong with being an honorable human being? To respect one another, and the simple rights of another to dignity should be qualities we as Americans strive for in our daily lives. Our behavior is a reflection of the behavior of our rulers...I, am ashamed. Stop this senseless bickering over little nothings, stop denying we are a Nation On the Brink of Destruction, we have no one to blame for the state of our Country but ourselves. We must stop pretending some big invisible entity is making it all right...it''s not!
We should consider a candidate that can actually give a proper and viable answer to whatever question is ask of them!

ST - The money the Federal government spends all comes from the same place, regardless of whether it''s war funding or food stamps. It comes from money borrowed from other countries, or from money printed out of thin air by the federal reserve.

Ron Paul has never voted for an unbalanced budget, didn''t vote for the war in Iraq, and didn''t vote for the patriot act. You refuse to listen to him because of his party affiliation. I assure you, he''s not part of the problem.

He is in the Republican Party because you have to pick one of the two worthless parties to get to participate in politics in America (Joe Lieberman aside).

I hear people say Paul isn''t tough enough to be president. Look at how he handled himself at the Republican debates. He doesn''t shy away from questions, and isn''t afraid to give unpopular answers.

A Jewish editor from Newsweek asked Paul if he thinks Israel deserves a state. He answered that he thinks Israel deserves a state, and so does Palestine, but it shouldn''t take American lives or money to create either. I thought the interviewer was going to cough up a hairball.

I didn''t think you could get elected president in the US without swearing allegiance to Israel, but Paul simply won''t do it.

"... The Chinese have nothing to do with our social services.

But in any case it''s soulless, profit oriented only, beings such as Ron Paul who have given them so much power over the value of the dollar, which I believe is what you''re really talking about.

While human rights oriented beings such as myself have been advocating a 10 year economic disengagement plan from them, and all other fascist nations, for many decades.

So here we are with two choices.

Let the mega rich suffer the consequences for decades of anti-American and inhumane activities, or take absolutely everything, including public roads, from innocent American citizens.

Guess where most American citizens stand?"

In the past I''ve often agreed and enjoyed your posts. Concerning Ron Paul we differ.

I have faith that concerning Iraq he''ll be able to extricate us from that nation (them and us) destroying mess.
Since it''s getting more evident Bin Laden is NOT in Afghanistan and our shrub has decided to neglect that nation now that the opium production is in full swing, I''d rather pressure SAUDI where I''m guessing Osama Bin Laden really is hiding out. Probably at some desert terror training camp funded by the renewed opium poppy trade. He sure seems to be well taken care of DIALYSIS and all.

You''re discounting the controlling influence of Congress. Yes, lately they ARE a bunch of thoroughly NEUTERED cowards but they''ll stay that way as long as the lobbyist leash stays firmly attached and the dog-walker using that leash is the top person the lobbyists PAY FOR.

The "front runners" in BOTH parties have BOUGHT AND PAID FOR stamped all over them.

If he seems too radically different maybe Congress will finally find their neutered parts.
Ahh..Diversity - Democracy at its finest.

SO, who DO you support and why??
