True patriots vote, if you don''t like any of the candidats, tough, there is always someone to vote for who comes closest to your views, for example Kucinich or Paul, even if you think neither can win. Waving the American flag is NOT patriotism it IS nationalism, nationalism is one of the incredients for fascism, waving the American flag does not mean you''re a fascist however it does not mean you''re a patriot either. Only those who inform themselves on the issues and vote accordingly are true patriots. Only those who protest wrong doing by our government are true patriots. Dodd is patriot for his filibuster, Kucinich for his impeachment motion on Cheney. Dodd and Kucinich are true American patriots.

Given the recent history of lying about vote totals, and discarding votes of "Black" people, it is tempting to ask that question even now, before any action is taken by a corrupt legislature.

Mostly correct, but also consider if the telecoms know that in the future similar activities would entail similar liability, they would think a few times before agreeing to cooperate with a corrupt government, and that alone is probably worth the lawyers'' fees.

No Retroactive immunity!

If the dems allow such a bill to pass - giving immunity to the telecoms and the government officials that allowed this to happen, myself and many other just won''t vote in the next election. What would be the point!

If no law was broken then there is no need for liability protection to companies that spied on it''s customers for Bush.

What is Bush trying to hide then? If Verizon, AT&T and others did break the law at Bush''s request, then they should be sued, along with Bush.

If liability protection is granted by this weak Congress then they better grant liability protection to all law breakers. You can not allow one group a free pass while you charge others for like crime.
