Despite Shooting To The Top Of The Polls, GOP Hopeful Is Still Running Like A Long Shot
- Ah but you forget that John F. Kennedy made it a point not to take religon into consideration while he made his way to the White House, however he also made it known that he was a Cathloic, from which he gained a great deal of support, and Im pretty sure he was not a "Repiglicon".

- I initially signed up on this site to weigh in my opinion in regards to Mike Huckabee. I found it so interesting to see the varity of viewpoints! This is such a GREAT country that we can say whatever it is on our minds. I do not think that there is such a thing as a bad opinion, and that being said, I also feel that we should respect each other''s opinions, whether it be conservative or liberal; Christian or non-Christian; war or anti-war. The point is that when election day comes, we have done our homework and voted for the candidate that we belive in.
I know who I will vote for and why, and it has nothing to do with party affiliation, but do you know for whom you will vote and why?
But just to keep the banter going I have to say...I Like Mike - Reply to this comment
- It is God''''s will that ALL come to repentence, BUT, he wants all to do it out of love for him of their own free will. He has NEVER forced anyone to choose to follow His will.

That is why Jesus made the statement the way he did. that we should seperate religion from politics. Politics force you to conform. religion "asks" you to conform. One is voluntary the other mandatory. That is the crux of the "render unto" statement by Jesus. - Reply to this comment
- FROM GOVERNOR''S MANSION TO THE WHITE HOUSE....When was the last time we elected someone other than a Governor or Vice-President to the Oval Office. It''s been 46 years!!! In 1961, Senator John F. Kennedy was elected President. Since that time we''ve always selected the presidential candidates with the executive experience of a governor or vice-president. With that being said, I''m not making any predictions concerning the upcoming presidential election. All I''m saying is we should be sure to keep an eye on the governors running for the Oval Office. Recent history is on their side...

- George Bush with a face-lift, the same weak memory, the same bigotry toward people of other faiths and those of no faith, and the same deceitful body language of a flim-flam Huckster.

Excuse me, you have obviously read little of not only my post but of the candidates themselves. I have opposed the Iraq war and Bush from the beginning. Have a couple more cups of coffee and wake up. - Reply to this comment
- What we have here are 17 Tofu burgers disguised as prime rib. Not a gram of beef in any of them. This race should not be political, as neither party represents the people of the US. For to long the citizens of our nation have been bowing, praying and giving "dues" to the golden elephants and the golden donkeys. They have turned their political party into a religion while the corporate masters have watched and financed both. Both parties deliver in the end the same results.

- There is nothing wrong with a candidate believing in God, all presidents have believed in God. God cannot be legislated to the people. Faith begins at home. Morals begin at home.

- "My mother is a pastor. I asked her about religion in politics the other day, and she repeated Jesus''''s words about "render unto Caeser." His kingdom wasn''''t on earth...

Tell your mom she needs to read the Bible more and not interpose so much opinion. She would need a more viable reference in regard to governing bodies.
Paul stated, being inspired by God''s Spirit, that we should submit to our governing authorities for there is no authority except that given by God. As we are subservient to God''s will (Christians that is), there is no reason we shouldn''t be active in our governing bodies, even in positions of leadership; for "there is no authority except that given by God". You can read more on this in the 13th chapter of Paul''s letter to the Romans.
neoconnie, It appears your heart is searching in the right direction, however, there is still much lacking in your analysis. First being we already have a ruler in Christ Jesus; He doesn''t need an earthly seat. His place is at the right hand of God most high. Whether or not a Christian is in the presidential seat is not of importance. It is God''s will that ALL come to repentence, BUT, he wants all to do it out of love for him of their own free will. He has NEVER forced anyone to choose to follow His will. He has taken action against those who interfere though (Egypt, Philistines, Babylon, etc).

- Nancy_Naive ... In 1968 Nixon took 43.4%, Hubert Humphrey 42.7%, George Wallace 13.5%. Wallace helped Nixon into the White House. The redneck south should have voted Republican for all the good there votes were.
