You got those elected to Congress who aren''t doing their jobs. You got presidential candidates unwilling to take a stand(HILLARY) and you have an electorate that is clearly angry. I think there are going to be some big surprises come Jan and Feb in primary season.

The surge failed...bring our boys home already! Posted by jh6379 at 12:15 PM : Nov 25, 2007

Surge is working well, Sanchez should shut up and enjoy retirement.
We should listen to the commanders on the ground in Iraq, not people who couldn''t cut and now want a soap box to promote themselves, next thing will be a book tour by Sachez.

"Giving up in Iraq" or "Giving Iraq up"?
The situation in Iraq is so difficult that even the criticism is becoming chaotic and hard to track. In all this chaos one core issue is worthy of special focus and attention and that is "Iraqi sovereignty" or lack thereof. It maybe easier to control a country that lacks an assertive and independent government, but is keeping Iraq submissive becoming a long term US policy? When the president speaks of not wanting to "give up in Iraq" is he really saying that he doesn''t want to "give Iraq up"? There is evidence of this sentiment in recent events relating to independent security contactors in Iraq. Article 17 of the post-war Iraqi law is a directive by Paul Bremer that gives security personnel (independent contractors) immunity from prosecution. The Iraqi government and parliament are now working to pass legislation to reverse this legal provision and make all security agents subject to prosecution under Iraqi law. In separate, but parallel action, the state department and the Pentagon are fighting over which agency should be supervising the independent contractors for the Iraqis. Our politicians need to explain to us how they expect the United States to eventually give the Iraqi government full control over Iraq''s oil and security forces if we can''t even see our way clear to granting the Iraqis the right to prosecute foreign nationals accused of murder on their soil.

Turning point #437 in Iraq - slightly less killing for 2 months. Yeah we won!

You can fool most Americans most of the time but you just can''t fool Americans on Iraq anymore.

Is Charmin going to use them for their commercials? Perhaps to the background music of "Lust for Life" with Ted Haggard on "backup" _____________.

Identifying oneself to CBS by means of a credit card number, would also have a chilling effect on other forms of abuse, that thrives only in an atmosphere of complete anonymity.

Like veiled death threats and rampant use of racial slurs.

"THE Prophet is more likely a bot. Can this type of harassment be settled with a lawsuit?"

I doubt it. There are simnpler ways to deal with it.

One, not very popular, would be to require a verifiable credit card number to join here, one"s own or one"s parents -- not to pay, but to identify oneself. (Not many without credit cards could afford Internet access anyway.) Once a screen name is banned, that credit card number and its owner would also be banned. That would cut down on the "repeat offenders."

Better would just be to put an Ignore function in.

AOL has that -- so how hard can it be to implement ????

"A Stallinist (think Larry Craig) or a Paulinist? What is the difference?"
- Posted by radiob at 09:02 AM : Nov 25, 2007

Larry Craig was arrested in St. Paul, a fine Minnesota City named in Ron Paul"s honor.

That would make him a toe-tapping Paulinist.

He keeps getting banned annd coming back under new screen names.

What this forum needs (and it can"t be too difficult technically, if AOL has implemented it) is an IGNORE feature, so that with one stroke of the keyboard you can wipe all that spam from your view of the Comments.

To jowand,

I couldn"t find your post in this blizzard of Ron Paul spam, but it was beyond stupid for you to suggest that the Generals should be given a free hand in Iraq, with no civilian checks and balances, and we should just "support them" rather than trying to be "Monday Morning Quarterbacks."

That was beyond stupid. It showed a criminal ignorance of American and world history.

Giving free reign to their military commanders is what the Japanese did in the 1930s, and it led directly to Pearl Harbor and to the greatest series of catastrophes in Japanese history.

Our wise Founding Fathers placed all -- not most, ALL -- high level military decisions in the hands of civilian authority, as you would know if, in addition to your Marvel Comics, you had ever read the United States Constitution.

"Serbia was an ally - even after we betrayed them in World War II. I don''''t think they will be too friendly to Americans in the future, especially if we force them to turn over what was their own province."
- Posted by Pelosisaho1 at 03:58 PM : Nov 24, 2007

You"re lying again, Stalinist.

Our allies in Europe belong to an organization called NATO -- of which Serbia was NEVER a member. NEVER.

It was NATO that organized the bombing campaign, which ultimately liberated the people of Serbia from Milosevic -- the Stalin-like thug you admire so much.

Joseph Stalin was our "ally" in World War II. I bet you were a big fan of his too. I bet you have never mentioned Stalin"s attempt to exterminate the people of Ukraine. I bet you have never mentioned that.

You are a Stalinist and a liar.
