Why should ILLEGAL ALIENS get to have a privilege when they''re here illegally?

Do you honestly believe that people in this country illegally are just going to walk into a government agency and ''register'' themselves?
If you were in another country illegally, would you do that? I bet not.

And what makes you think they will fork over the money to buy insurance when they aren''t paying anything now?
Insurance companies won''t insure someone they can''t run a driving record on because then they have no way to rate the risk. So then you have to make another law forcing insurance companies to insure illegals whom they can''t rate, so they''ll raise their rates on EVERYONE to cover the risk, and some companies will just pull out of your state.

If an illegal would go through the trouble of getting a drivers license and buy car insurance, then they would have gone throught the trouble of entering our country legally.

Spitzer''s idea was incredibly stupid and naive, OR he had an ulterior motive...

For anybody who really examined the plan, it was a good plan. But when the illiterates started fear mongering about the illegals it never had a chance. Spitzer just outreached his audience, but at least he had the statemanship to admit that the public, albeit misinformed, has spoken and he would follow their wishes. Now, if "W" would only follow the same logic (72% of Americans want the war ended) and bring our troops home!
