Singinrick, when you inject your religion into government for no reason other than the fact that it is "God''s law," you are imposing your religious beliefs on others, whether you are honest enough to admit that or not. You cannot give "God''s law" as even a partial reason for a law without imposing your religion on others. It''s a matter of simple logic, which you would do well to take a course in. A free society does not make murder illegal because "it''s God''s law." Rather, it makes murder illegal because murder infringes on the rights of another human being and because we are all better off with a society in which murder is illegal, period, end of story. That is where the "reasons" behind government begin and end, in a free society. Once you start legislating something because "it''s God''s law," you are no different than an Islamic extremist except that they are honest about what they are doing, and in that regard, they are your moral superior. Singinrick, the choices are simple, either (a) admit you want to force your own personal religious beliefs upon others; (b) stop advocating for government based on God''s law; or (c) lose all credibility due to your intellectual dishonesty. - hippychicky, 1st of all I do not point my finger at anyone, but I do point to the scriptures for guidance and referance. I''m sure that if I gave you the original greek texts, you would still find excuses to find fault and rationalize your lifestyle As I said before, its your choice, but is it the right choice?

- This common Greek word had different connotations depending on the context in which it was used. In terms of morality, it generally referred to something like laziness, degeneracy, decadence, or lack of courage. The connotation was of being %u201Csoft like a woman%u201D or like the delicate expensive fabrics worn by rich men. In the patriarchal culture of the time, women were thought to be weaker than men, more fearful, more vulnerable, and more vain. Thus, men who ate too much, liked expensive things, were lazy, or liked to dress well were considered %u201Csoft like a woman.%u201D Although this type of misogynistic thinking is intolerable in our modern society, it was common in ancient times and explains why the King James Version translated malakoi as %u201Ceffeminate.%u201D

In this passage there are two key phrases relevant to our discussion. First there is the reference to %u201Ceffeminate%u201D persons, which is often viewed as a reference to nelly gay men. In truth, however, the Greek word translated %u201Ceffeminate%u201D in verse 9 is quite broad. The word is malakoi, and it literally means %u201Csoft.%u201D So Paul is saying %u201Csoft people%u201D will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since we know Paul was not talking about the Pillsbury Dough Boy, we have to ask what he meant.

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
The NIV rewords the original text..proving that there are different interpretations for everyone who reads it.
