Sweden even had kinder, gentler Vikings than the other Scandinavian countries.

Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane was certainly not afraid of death......that is not what produced the sweating drops of blood. He was to be made sin for us and therefore would be separated from His Father for the first time by that sin. He was the Lamb of God....the Sin Bearer who would take away the sins of the world. Therefore you hear Him crying out to His Father, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" He had never called His Father "God" before. He was forsaken for you and me because He had become the sin bearer. We are the ones who deserve to be forsaken by God, and Jesus took it for us. Fear never entered the picture.

Thanks.

One can"t help but wonder, why God so richly blessed atheistic Sweden, which has a higher standard of living than America has, less crime, less poverty, better education levels, a longer lifespan, relative freedom from natural catastrophes, and a record of generous giving to international relief causes that other nations can only envy.

Hellbach, Stuttgart, 1946)

When the Nazis arrested the Communists,
I said nothing; I was not a Communist.
When they locked up the Social Democrats,
I said nothing; I was not a Social Democrat.
When they arrested the trade unionists,
I said nothing; I was not a trade unionist.
When they arrested the Jews,
I said nothing; I was not a Jew.
When they arrested me, there was no longer anyone who could protest.

German Nazis = American Republicans, can it get any clearer?

immense value of your national Union to your collective and individual happiness

That UNION being ONE NATION UNDER GOD!!!
There is no other way to unite a people. People don''t have unity because they are all in the same room, singing the same songs......Unity is in the heart, not in your head.

There ARE spurious Washington quotes out there, but the one singinrick mentioned is not one of them.

Washington was a pious Christian, although the American Revolution was as clear a violation of Biblical belief as public idolatry at the altar of Baal would be.

Paul threatened with eternal d*amnation, those who rebel against earthly authority.

Death is the one event that puts us all on the same ground. You might be a liberal....and think you have it all figured out. Or you might be a conservative and think the same as well, but the one event that will put you to the test is death. It has a way, which God intended, to get down to core of our hearts. It is desperate ground. The bright side is that the Holy Spirit is here in the earth speaking to the hearts of men, some near death, some dying, to convince them of the truth about Who Jesus is in their hour of death because God does not desire that any man or woman perish. He wants all to be saved. It is a pity that so many have to be so near death before they believe this.

"I see Ice_Man so your George Washington quotes are legitimate ones, but the quotes where he said it is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible are simply concocted phrases invented on the internet when someone does a google search right???"

I know that was meant sarcastically, because I have never questioned the authenticity of that Washington quote.

I feel myself capable of agreeing with Washington about some things, and disagreeing with him about others, which is a freedom Washington and others obtained for me at the risk of their lives and fortunes.
