Gross Federal Debt
Jimmy Carter: in .7 trillion - out .9 trillion (4 yr)
Ronald Reagan: .9 trillion - 2.8 trillion
Bush Senior: 2.8 trillion - 4.2 trillion (4 yr)
Bill Clinton: 4.2 trillion - 5.7 trillion
Bush Junior: 5.7 trillion - 9.6 trillion (proj)
All figures in dollars
Source:US Dept Of Treasury Bureau Of Public Debt

It should also be noted that in EVERY YEAR since 1977 when there was a Democrat as president, the yearly debt as a percentage of GDP declined. In EVERY YEAR a Republican held office, the yearly debt as a percentage of GDP rose.
Fiscal Responsibility.

God Sarge, surely not!!

The neo cons are wimps. They have shown that over and over. They will take their defeat and whine about the new direction the country is taking, blather on and on about how Clinton or whomever, can''t do anything right, like they have room to talk about that.

They will rail on FoxNews, whimper about their raised taxes and attack her/him ceaselessly. But to no avail. They haven''t a snowball''s chance in hell of either holding onto the whitehouse or getting elected again.

I am going out on a limb here, but I would not be surprised at 16 years of democrat in the whitehouse.

nyckate--There is only one Republican I will vote for, Ron Paul, and he has been hounded by his own party--they redisticted him, hoping to see him defeated by a Democrat...instead he won the new District by the greatest margin he had ever won.

Dennis Kucinich is my pick in the Democratic Party... The rest are the same old sorry shills.

I have a hard time imagining the kind of person who would be so debased as to vote for Giuliani.

clestes,

I am not big on political awards which "Woman of the Year" I think falls into since many first ladies have had that award.

When I say accomplishments I mean:

Raised graduation rates by ___% over 4 years
Reduced crime by ____% over 8 years
Implemented cost reduction of ____% by streamlining the bureacracy.
Managed 250,000 government employees and improved _____ by ___%
Reduced illegal alien immigration by _______% over 4 years
Improved budget balance by ______% over 4 years.

That is why Governors (NYC mayor?) do well in national elections. They have a record of accomplishment. The danger for Americans is that we may not get the choice of someone with a "real" job to choose from. Senators do not have real jobs and running America is not a senatorial debate.

Yes, I know Dubya was a governor..... But, so was ***** Bill and many, many others. No senator has won except JFK if I say LBJ was an incumbent.

I am disappointed Bill Richardson did so poor in the debates as he has the best resume of anyone.

If we end up with Hillary and Fred we will be voting off of rhetoric. Not the way to hire anyone as it is proven to be the least reliable determinor in hiring.

Gotta go to lunch.

Ice_Man 1960--There should be lots of room in the "penalty box"...since the white slavers of Dyncorps have vacated it after being put there by Rumsfeld...being deprived for a few months of new government contracts...Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) asked him the hard questions in House hearings, and for her trouble was hounded out of office by her own sorry party who attacked her and helped her opponent--particulary the Zio-Nazi elements of the ADL.

What has Clinton done about Dyncorps?

You are making some excellent points... there isn''t a chance in heck I''d every vote for the likes of Rudy -- but I am not a fan of Hillary either ...

The article said that the package she presented on Sunday was formidible. But that''s all it really was wasn''t it - a brand - a well-put-together media package - she''s been couched and primed like a product to sell - and well - I''m not buying it.

"Can Clinton Be Stopped?"

No. However once she wins the nomination and then is leading in the polls for the general election, then I hope she has lots of extra security. There is too much money and power at stake for neoconservatives fascists like Cheney to allow a democrat to take control of the White House now, at least not without taking a few shots at her, literally. They really are that evil and power hungry to where I have no doubt that they will try to have whatever Democrat that is winning killed.

I don''t trust Hillary at all, but I can''t vote for a republican ever again, not after the last several years of complete corruption. If she wins the primary, I think it''s going to be moving time. She''s got gold fever for the power of the White House. You can see the lust in her eyes, and I don''t like what I know about her.

I have once again descended into the trenches and gutters of ugly personal attacks on other posters.

I think I''ll give myself some time off, in the Penalty Box.

That strange, for some reason I remember the Clinton years as very positive for the economy. Moderate taxes, moderate expenses. Money for environment, healthcare, education.

Bush years have plunged us deeply in debt to the tune of 500 billion dollars. You think that is a good idea??

If your small business was earning you $250,000 or more, I have little sympathy for your whining about taxes. I earn less than $50,000. And guess what!! All my expenses have gone up, up, up!! Mostly food and fuel.

God how true and then they wonder why we the American middle class are so angry they still hold on though thinking that they can lie there way back into power. We are not afraid of the terrorist we are afraid of you.
