Senate Blocks Measure To Order U.S. Troops Home From Iraq In 9 Months
- Does anybody in the media realize that all of the charges against the Marines for the Haditha masacre have dropped? Didn''t this website cover their indictments extensively? Nothing about their exoneration...Nada? I won''t hold my breath for the gutless Congressman Murtha to apologize for indicting them before trial claiming they shot innocent Iraqis "in cold blood"
The Democrats are quick to demand President Bush to admit mistakes, apologize for things, etc.
They have a lot of nerve and zero spine. - Reply to this comment
- AaaBee: You are so right. "Republicans blocked the measure", the Democrats didn''t give up.

- Dimnowits, still trying to usurp the Executive. Just don''t get it, never will. Well, seems like Patraeus and the troops are doing a great job. How utterly upsetting to the Dimnowits. Good for nothings, now, and always.

Moveon just used what has been circling since the man first opened his mouth at the behest of Bush. - Reply to this comment
- I have to admit that I agree about one thing with republicans: The Moveon ad was way outta line. The general has spent a significant portion of his life moving up in the corporation. I''m sure he did the go-along to get-along thing often. But I looked at his uniform. You don''t get those things for free. Stars, maybe. But service decorations?....... Yeah his and Crocker''s testimony was coached. What do ya think loony''s foto-op was for?

- "Dems Fail Again To Pass Anti-War Bill"
The headlines should read:
Neocons Fail Again to Allow Troops to Come Home.
Or: Conservatives Successful in Blocking Ending War, Against the Wishes of Entire Nation
Or: Senate Congratulates Itself in Continuing Loss of Iraqi and US Lives in Useless War
Or: Bush Wins Again, Using His Cronies to Back His Bogus War. - Reply to this comment

.. Just calling the bill to give our troops the time for training & rest they need an "Anti-War Bill" is a betrayal of trust to America -
-- It actually forces this administration to increase the numbers for our military to insure an honorable outcome....... And provide a new direction - Reply to this comment
- pwrslm,,,, Maybe you should pay closer attention to the arguments on what our Constitution does provide to our Congress & the Seperation of Powers...

- Petraus has his eye on the seat Bush currently is staining. With ambitions like that, you do not go against a) The Party, and b) a wealthy future endorser/backer of your political aims.
Petraus has his own personal agenda and if he seeks POTUS, then his voice and the GOP voice must be one and the same.
Does the evidence support that Petraus puts:
Political party before country (Whatever Bush wants)
personal agenda before national interests (presidency)
personal agenda before party (my career before country) - Reply to this comment
- ...and the Democrats FAIL YET AGAIN TODAY TO PASS A ANTI-WAR BILL!
But they still push ahead with their failed policy:
"I ask my Republican colleagues for the courage and wisdom to join the American people and bring our troops home," [Senate Majority Leader Harry] Reid said Friday morning. "Courage and wisdom demands that we do such."
Harry Reid knows nothing about courage or wisdom, since he posesses neither of those attributes, nor does he have any respect for those who do.

- I didnt realize that the constitution gave congress any rights in dictating how to fight a war....there should be a distinct separation of powers there, Congress is given power to declair war, but he power to wage war is firmly vested in the Executive Branch. This keeps them both in Check, a war machine that cannot arbitrarily declair war, and a Congress that cannot run one.
