Slim - I can''t address specifics about any one individual. My wife works for a doctor and spends 1/2 her day answering lawyer inquiries for lawsuits. There doesn''t seem to be any shortage of lawyers on TV advertising for anybody who feels illused by Doctors. So I am not sure about nobody sue''s doctors anymore - I think that may be wrong.

"Donnie - I get your point - and tend to agree. Unfortunately - if we need news how can everybody go everywhere to get the information they need to make decisions?"

How''d they do it before?

See, thats what pisses me off about this shyyyt. These media people think they represent the constitution.

This proposal doesn''''t address what I believe is the root cause of the rising costs. People with no skin in the game demand the highest level of diagnostic care and doctors that perform way to many tests just to ensure they have coverage in case they get sued.

Well I was promised some med. tests, but none was performed, and I still was charged quite a bit, for nothing. And still suffer, now going on now for 4 yrs!

I don''t know how can say anything about tort reform, thats a joke, right? When I contacted a lawyer, he said that you can''t sue a doctor nowa days, of course he was siding with the doctor.. the other lawyers said basically the same thing.. Again,,, Tort reform?????????????????? sheeesh

Donnie - I get your point - and tend to agree. Unfortunately - if we need news how can everybody go everywhere to get the information they need to make decisions? I suggest we read as much from both sides as possible to get some idea of the basic arguments. Then find somebody with an opposite point of view and talk it out - its the only way to understand.

rhs648/slim1h2o,

Did you guys read the article? It doesn''''t appear so from your comments.

The proposal calls for consumer choice. People who are happy with what they have can keep it. The government won''''t be controlling what benefits are offered, the competitive market will still do that.

What the proposal does is regulate abuses in the market, such as denying coverage or claims for patients deemed to have "pre-existing conditions".
The insurance companies can currently deny any person or claim they want. That''''s what this addresses.

Mandatory health insurance is not consumer choice. Consumer choice is the option not to have health insurance. If you require people to pay for something they don''t want, there is no consumer choice. Insurance companies have underwriting rules filed with state insurance commissioners. Each state has different rules. One consumer choice is to move to a state that requires insurance companies to cover people with "prexisting condition." The purpose of Hillary''s plan is to make certain all people have health insurance whether they want it or not at the taxpayers expense. Another government program at taxpayers expense with the expense, waste, and inefficiency common to many government programs. We did read the article and we understand it.

THEY BURNED YER SKIN! A fella sit''n on de table there.. Scream''n. And its: "YOU CAN SEE INSIDE DE HUMAN BODY!!"

there are a lot of causes to why we have high medical costs - some of it related to tort reform, some related to the buyer being disconnected from the costs. Some is just the nature of high tech medicine.

I have a neighbor who is a Doctor and he is paying well over $100K a year in malpractice insurance. He lives in a modest home and drives a Toyota - he is not rich.

This proposal doesn''t address what I believe is the root cause of the rising costs. People with no skin in the game demand the highest level of diagnostic care and doctors that perform way to many tests just to ensure they have coverage in case they get sued.

Once those two issues are addressed I think we can begin to evaluate what must be done from there to cover people who still can not afford healthcare.

Keep in mind - many of those lacking insurance still can find medical help - its not always easy but it can be done.

it was a vicious analogy implying the very worst of those whom I believe have a lot to loose in this proposal.

I have already lost everything I own due to this medical system, even though I had insurance, so whats the point? Till the system is fixed, nothing will change.

I want a debate on this, open and fair discussions but more government oversight is not good.

I agree, so far what you say is right. There is too many people out there that will take advantage of the system, and yet hard working, honest people don''t get the help, when they need it, in this system, the way it works now.
