- This article does not speak to ALL military moms. Being one myself, with a son due home the end of next month and a proud member of Blue Star Mother''s of America. While we may not all be conservative I can say that our group does not trust the dems in any way, shape or form. So, if they think a poll in New Hamphire speaks to all of us. You are sorely wrong.

- Our country was founded and built around the fact that Humans can have differing opinions on things.
However, I guess if a person is intelectually limited or lacks self-esteem to be satisfied with their own opinions....demonizing the opposing side is their only option...
Here''s to hoping this line of reasoning is helping make our country a better place for all Americans. - Reply to this comment

Your logic is equally fuzzy. You''re not counting the moms of active soldiers no longer deployed to Iraq, the moms of active soldiers who are not now deployed, but probably will be if we stayed engaged, the moms of active soldiers in Afghanistan, and active sailor moms who are seeing the Navy reserves called up for combat ground duty. That doesn''t even touch the moms of vets who are vulnerable to recall by a "volunteer" military desperate for warm bodies. When an election can hinge on just thousands--or even hundreds--of votes, the mom voting block is not insignificant. - Reply to this comment
- Third, Liberal/liberty means freedom to think for yourself, and make your own choices and the wisdom and moral fiber to grant that same freedom to everyone.

Great!!! Let''s not lose that right. The more Americans who exercise their freedom of thought, the stronger America is and the sooner we will get back a country that is "by the people and for the people." We must ask the news media to be more selective about reporting what is really important; an informed citizenry is essential for us to maintain our freedoms. - Reply to this comment

A whopping 288 voters participated in this %u201Cstraw vote%u201D !
Where was it held and who sponsored it?
It would appear that it might have been held in a downtown restaurant. Was Ron Paul paying for everybody%u2019s dinner?
Sounds like an idea straight out of the Mitt Romney play book. - Reply to this comment
- Where am I wrong?

You are wrong in using an irrelevant-to-the-point subject. The subject is the joining forces of CBS and the Washington Post websites for their 2008 campaign coverage.
I have found you%u2019re past comments to be almost totally one-sided and often obfuscated. This discourages me from even bothering to read most of your comments, as the contents (on any subject) are too predictable.
That is why I included you, along with FARTKNOCKER2, and infidel_us, in my previous comment.
BTW as I have stated several times before, I have voted in every presidential election sine JFK and the only two times my choices did not win was in 2000 and 2004.
That has several connotations.
First, I am about as independent, politically, as you can get.
Second, the majority of Americans vote/think as I do, which causes me to believe the vote counting was NOT honest in either 2000 or 2004
.
Third, Liberal/liberty means freedom to think for yourself, and make your own choices and the wisdom and moral fiber to grant that same freedom to everyone.

I think that reflects the attitude of many moms all across the country and is the point of this article. - Reply to this comment
- The Real Reason We''re In Iraq:
An influential group of conservatives convinced President George W. Bush that it was in America''s best interests to conquer Iraq as a first step toward dominating the oil-producing nations in the Middle East. There was no "exit plan" because we never intended to exit. The plan was, and is, to build military bases in Iraq and stay there forever. Our leaders also see Iraq as a place to make money. So Bush & Co. have set up their friends to cash in on the rebuilding of Iraq. - Reply to this comment
- razzl, what about the previously deployed troops?

- Let''s look at numbers. There are about 150,000 deployed troops, so that equals a maximum of 150,000 moms (even though some are no longer living) and perhaps another 75,000 mothers-in law for a total of 225,000. I don''t know how many separate individuals completed deployment and are home, but let''s be generous and double the 225,000 to 450,000. Since about half the population votes in presidential elections, we''re back down to 225,000. New Hampshire''s share of that is 4% (of US population) or 9,000. There are 690,000 registered voters in the state, making them 2.6% of the expected voter turnout of 345000. Now does that sound significant or not? I don''t know, but the writer of such an article should be skeptical enough to parse the numbers before accepting the proposition...
