White House Issues New Guidelines To Limit Eligibility Of Kids Above Poverty Level In SCHIP Program
- at least now it makes sense as to why king george is meeting with canada and mexico. bushit wants to know about the canadian health care so he can use it against americans. we know he would kill little kids for a few bucks. whats easier, maybe invading a country with no military power? and what about mexico, promising the canadians a cut of the drug money to look the other way? showing him how profitable it is? not to mention warning canada not to supply cheaper drugs to america, like he said "your either with us, or your against us". how many people will die or suffer for that year before being denied coverage in the mean time?i cant believe this piece of shi- is still breathing!

- katg21 - if you work in America you''re already paying into the medicaid/medicare system - and will continue to do so.
The medicaid/medicare system covers every elected official in washington, all our governors and elected officials -- so why aren''t you good enough to have the same coverage as your senator and congressman??
Perhaps this is the root of the problem - poor self-esteem doesn''t allow you to think you deserve the same medical coverage as your congressmen and their families. How sad for you - you actually believe they are above you. How pathetic that there are so many like you who don''t think enough of themselves, their spouses of their kids. - Reply to this comment
- CALL DENNIS SMITH -- let him know how difficult it is for many families if they''ve been laid off or if company closed or if you simply can''t afford it.

The rats in Bush WHite House always pick on the most vulernable amoung us to attack -- they''re coward who couldn''t fight a fair fight so they pick on helpless sick kids. They''re like a pack of rabid animals wanting/needing to kill but they never go after those who can fight them back. Yes Mudrose, that goes for you too - maybe especially you - you''re like a wild rabid dog who shoulda been put down. - Reply to this comment
- This child health coverage proposal is nothing but a practice run for universal healthcare.

- If I were a GOP Senator right about now I would be thinking of not only impeachment but also removal of the President and Vice President. The longer these two go the more GOP Senators that will be looking for jobs in 2009. That is a good thing because as the poor get sicker and sicker and more and more homeless people due to the foreclosers. Well, they vote GOP don''t forget that one and as they say payback for the last 12 years will be a you know what.
I for one will never again be fooled by the lies of the GOP and the slander tackets. - Reply to this comment
- The only way to fix the ''broken'' health care system in this country is to take the insurance companies out of the equation. Republicans will fight tooth and nail to keep that from happening.

- justsane,
I understand completely what you''re going through. When I was out of work for almost a year I couldn''t afford C.O.B.R.A. payments so my wife and I went without medical care.
I''ve been working again in the same job for 6 years and still can''t afford to insure my wife but I do have coverage for myself. Thank God we don''t have kids.
The next time I hear some smart aleck young Republican whose never been in this situatiion tell me to go get a job and get off the public dole if I want healthcare, I''m going to put them in the hospital.
We have a private for-profit system which only truly benefits the very affluent or the extremely poor. It will never do anything else, plus it''s wasteful because there''s no overall consolidation of resources, no controls on price gouging, and the insurance companies force most of us into unecessary emergency care which is ineffectively costly.
Then there are the issues of coverage denial for the benefit of their shareholders.
The right can call a single payer system socialism all they want, it''s better than social Darwinism. - Reply to this comment
- "states must establish that a child has been without insurance for a minimum of one year before the child can get coverage through SCHIP"
This president and Administration are pieces of ****. We have plenty of money to give to the Iraq war profiteers. We just gave Israel $30 BILLION!!!
Anyone preaching this scum bag, you''re a piece of ****!!! Not a surprise since you were saying how great the low life was while he was killing innocent Iraqi citizens and AMERICAN SOLDIERS so he could steal the country of Iraq at immense profit to all his cronies.
You people are sell outs of America and its citizens. - Reply to this comment
- I keep hearing over and over private insurance and the competition among companies will drive down the cost well as far as I can see cost keep rising and rising as do their profits ... and because that''s see only option open to most people private insurance or nothing and all....it sure looks like single payer but the profits are going to private individuals ..... once again Bush proved that if he cannot push his policies/IDEAs through legitimate channels he will use whatever means necessary to achieve his desires like signing statements, recess appointments, directors letters even if it goes against the will the people and this out of oversight by the Congress
IMPEACH NOW! WE MUST THIS IMPERIAL ADMINISTRATION! - Reply to this comment
- i am in between jobs. last week i got the notice that it will cost $668.00 per month to COBRA my health insurance. i may be able to get a private policy to cover us, but there are issues with pre-existing conditions and prescription medication that may make it impossible for me to get this coverage. so, do i take the COBRA and work 1/2 the month to pay for health insurance? or do i "go bare" and know that my children will have to be uninsured for a year before they qualify for the government funded insurance?
i just realised that even fully employed, i still qualify at the 250% above poverty limit...if i had chosen to keep them enrolled after i finshed school and went back to work, instead of paying for my employer''s coverage (as i thought was the right thing to do), at least they would still have coverage.
nobody should have to make these kinds of choices. if we had national single-payer coverage in this coutry, there would be no such thing as a waiting period before coverage, or disqualification for a pre-existing condition. - Reply to this comment
- 0.00 a month for my family and it comes out of my pay check. I only make 35,000.00 a year and I still do not want the government spending my money for a bunch of freeloaders.

- The approach is a wise one. This SCHIPP *****, is a way to introdcue socialized medicine. That will cover everybody and nobody because the level of care would be reduced. It''s tantamount to getting a government issued blanket. That''s all you are goning to get. A blanket because when it comes to care it won''t be there. I''m all for purchasing medical insurance that is portable - meaning take it with you where you go. If insurance can be purchased, that gives rise to competition and that drives down the cost. With Government sponsored medical coverage, you''ll get the same service you get at a DMV. You''re covered, but you won''t be able to see a doctor for months and depending on the care you need, maybe never. It''s selective healthcare because it''s designed to cover the fittest.

- If private coverage wasn''t such a scam maybe people would be more willing to pay for it, but because the lack of competition allows collusion to the point of gross negligence, private coverage is of little or no benefit whatsoever to the insured, SCHIP should be expanded to cover all Americans, then watch as the private insurers suddenly see the need to improve their product, or fold, which is the true American way.

- "Many children who attempt to enroll in a popular children''s health insurance program will have to be uninsured for at least a year before they''ll be allowed to participate, the Bush administration has informed state health officials. "
Now there another brilliant neocon idea--they voted against getting uninsured kids medical coverage before they voted for it. Flip-Flop!
But billions for private mercenaries in Iraq to guard the generals!
Yes, these Christians sure know how to spread around Geezis'' love! - Reply to this comment
- "The Bush administration opposes both measures, claiming that the increased funding sought by the two chambers is unwarranted and would result in less private coverage and more public coverage for children."
The Iraq war is going to exceed 1 trillion dollars soon, and yet increased spending on children''s health care is unwarranted? Very disappointing sentiment. I hope the next president has more on the ball than this one. - Reply to this comment

- *** these children that actually want to grow up healthy and productive. Don''t they know this is America where their poor parents should use their excess money to fund their own medical plans? They would even get tax credits!!! It''s all the rave (or should I say rove) with Bush''s friends. The constant whining for medical benefits might start to infringe on the tax breaks the Bushittes gave to his closest neo-con rich friends and there goes that 4th house in Vail or the 3rd Bentley. How can these children be so cruel as to expect these wealthy people to actually have any societal responsibility? I am soooo glad we elected, not once but twice, so compassionate of a Republican, a conservative, and most importantly a Christian! I know the Republican God would be proud.
