Excellent post, thank you for sharing. I plan to repost them in any discussion where such thoughts are appropos (provided you have not already posted the info) thank you again. All Americans should consider this, especially those intent on changing our laws to suit their personal take on morality and conduct.

Candidate for the denomination''''s presidency!
LOL!
May be enough Bush-lovers out there to make this happen...kinda scary.

Uhmmmm. THAT means President of his church denomination (Southern Baptist)NOT the USA. And there probably IS enough votes among the various SB congregations to make it happen.

On another note: The failure of Huckabee to denounce such childish and vindictive remarks from one of his endorsers, paints him a very ugly color of ZEALOT and a hateful one at that. Though the number of SB are relatively large for a church denomination, they are NOT enough to get a man elected for President. Even if Huckabee was a serious contender, his failure to denounce or in any way curb the hatefulness of his endorser will give us all pause....

We already have the ''fruits'' of one so called ''Christian'' who thinks God gave him the right to remake the world in the image of the USA (never mind the devastating carnage to that country) we certainly don''t want to give power to the mindset that wants to destroy people who challenge them or try to make them obey the law.

After all, Bush has no qualms about disregarding rules and laws to get back at his opponents...imagine if we have a nutcase who not only wants to humiliate them, but has the power and means to ''destroy them''. No thank you. We don''t need anymore religious freaks wreaking political havoc in our country.

jrlordjr --

After re-reading my post, I believe I took what you said out of context, in that you said you don''t agree with "American Union for Separation of Church and State." You were saying you don''t agree with the organization, not the principle on which it claims to base itself. My apologies.

"So I may not agree with The Americans United for Separation of Church and State, but I certainly cannot, in the Spirit of the Lord, wish any ill upon them. I pray for their safety and that somehow, they could be persuaded of the error of their ways. And if they cannot be so persuaded, so be it. My love and prayers for them would not change. That is the Christian Way.

Then you don''t agree with being an American. Then again neither does Bush and all of the other cronies that have taken the Constitution and sliced holes all through it.

Typical Republican who only sets rules for
others and not themselves. He feels his
above the law and to use Gods name in vein.
he thinks he''s even above God that he would use God to cause harm and do his vengence.

If this is his idea of spreading the word
of God, please keep him from our children
and airwaves. It is with disgust to think
that this man actually believes he is doing
Gods work.

It is true that his personnal views were
pointed out on church stationary, but it is no
different than any corporate employee who
uses Company time and stationary to do the same,
that employee would be fired, I would think
his congregation would see this clearly and
really would hate to think that anyone in his
congregation would even support this hate filled
issue.

Once again, the Religious Reich tries to rule
the law.

"(AP) A California minister who used church stationery and an Internet radio program to endorse former Gov. Mike Huckabee for president is asking his followers to pray for the deaths of those who filed a complaint against him with the IRS."

Everyone save this paragraph in "note pad" or whatever text editor you have, and use it whenever you see posts by Singinrick, or Lars008.

It''''s the USA, if you want to be stupid, stupid, it''''s your constitutional right. You''''re infringing on the rights of Durbin, Clinton, Reid. You can lie too like you are doing, just don''''t squeal like a stuck pig when you get caught.
Posted by jowand at 10:04 PM : Aug 18, 2007

I understand the individual words, but this makes absolutely no sense. Did you learn to create grammatical sentence from a one-eyed drunk illeterate with a vengeneance against punctuation? Were you, possibly, drunk when you wrote this? Do you bear a grudge against the Queen''s English? Were you ever beat up by your English teacher? Are you allergic to shellfish?

Clarification - Clergy can support a candidate, but their churches cannot. This Drake guy is in trouble because he supported Huckabee using CHURCH stationery. That is the issue. Since he used church stationery, the church could be at risk for losing its tax-exempt status. I am sure Drake pays his taxes.

The clergy DOES pay taxes. Granted, they have some interesting exemptions and not all their salary is taxed at the same rate, but they pay taxes just like the rest of us. Religious institutions that are 501c(3) organizations are exempt. As such, they are supposed to be poitically neutral. They can support a cause, but not a candidate.

This Drake guy sounds like a total nutcase - and he has God all wrong. He''s stuck in an Old Testament concept of a vengeful God. God has better things to do and bigger messes to watch over than to consider this jerk''s nasty "imprecatory" prayer. Still, be thankful. Before today, how many of us ever thought of the word "imprecatory"?

Avoid this man and his stupidity. God is probably laughing at him. You should, too!
