It's the state's responsibility to fix their own *** bridges, not the federal government's. All states need to re-think their funding priorites if they think their bridges need fixing. I don't need to be taxed an extra 5 cents a gallon in CA to solve the problems of a short-sighted Minnesota Dept. of Trantportation. The states apply for billions and billions in federal transportation grants each year. Make sure your bridges are on the fix-it list for those grants and not some boondoggle mass transit system that will never pay for itself.

I'm no fan of Bush by any means, but I have even less patience for you "Blame eveything on Bush, rescue me Federal Government (and taxpayer)" whiner politicians and news reporters.

There are elected members from your state who do not notice the deterioration around them as they mindlessly use their elected time in the Senate, in the House, in the created Committees to tend to not only current project issues and jockeying for more power/time in their status quo, but also stay abreast with what already exist, which in all the years of observing the transportation means in our country, I've marveled at how the Dept. of Transportation & Commerce have not realized how stressed our Interstate Highways are, overburdened by the ultra large vehicles moving heavier tonnage over long distance/across country on aging corridors, and address future means to curb the wear and tear, while Federal/states funds are putting maintenance projects on the front burners. It is understood there will be more passenger vehicles on the roads, and their safe passage will be increased with less commercial trailers; maintenance highway priorities are established within the state government to be eligible for Federal funding, so get mouthy with your state's representatives; they have the regional say over funds. Bush is Big Daddy but everyone else has access to the budget. I still say he needs to tap the war chest and follow through with the war funding to supply our troops ... we are a part of foretold events to come and we need to bring it to fruition ... are you listening infidel_us!

You left out the point that he is going to break our military. It's already on the verge of breaking and to do what he proposes means their tours will have to be extended yet again AND we will see more unqualified and unfit people being brought into our military. Don't know about other states, but in Texas, we not only pay the fed tax on gas and a state one, we also have a "road and bridge use fee" tacked onto our license plate renewals.

How many Bridges do you have that are in the same or worse condition. You had the Little Nazi as Governor for some time and theres a better than average chance that HE didn't use it to do what it was supposed to be used for.
