- [When we were attacked by al Qaeda we went to war with - Iraq?!?Posted by hungry1968]
We did not attack Iraq to get al qaeda, rather to oust Saddam. People keeping make this specious connection when its not valid.
Nonetheless it will become more and more apparent to the US/West over the coming years that we are at war against Islam-a religion of war bent on subjugating the world under its barbaric rule. Iraq of course is a muslim country and is just as much a threat to us as are ALL muslim countries because they hate our values enough to want to see our destruction.
Muslims consider their countries 'dar-ul-islam' (land of peace) and non-muslim countries as dar-ul-harb or land of war, where they are all required by Islam to fight with us until we submit to their rule. Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc all have the same aim-to see the US/Europe destroyed and its people living under Sharia Law.
Iraq is just one front in this global war we're fighting against muslims. If the West actually knew the real nature of our enemy, we'd take the project of democratizing the world a lot more seriously (democracy being the more humane alternative to extermination). - Reply to this comment

No problem and I agree, Bush did a half-as.sed, that's primarily because we really didn't know much about the enemy-Islam. Because its fascism disguised as a religion-most people's defenses are down, because they assume its much like christianity.
I could forgive Bush and the US govt for not knowing years ago (I didn't either until I read a lot on Islam)-now they have no excuse. The enemy has been talking to us and making their message very clear, over and over-yet we continue to ignore it, at our own peril. As it is with human nature, we let things get worse till we finally do something about it.

- This is the terrorist Regime that carried out the false-flag attack on 9-11!
This is the terrorist Regime that destroyed the Ames anthrax cultures so that the source of the weaponized anthrax could not be discovered!
This is the Regime that leaves the borders wide open six years after its false flag terror attack on 9-11!--And, of course they do! If you are the ones behind the terror why not leave the border open?!
This is the terrorist Regime whose Operation Northwood plan was approved by the Joint Chiefs and called for the the murder of Americans and the destruction of American property to justify an invasion of Cuba.
This is the terrorist Regime that backed death squads in Central America and the Khymer Rouge in Cambodia.
This terrorist Regime is a bipartisan affair. If you vote for the Democratic and Repubican mainstream candidates--you are supporting terrorism! - Reply to this comment
- if you look at the margins you will see it was veto proof so this was no great victory for the commander in chimp. This would have become law whether he signed it or not. So if the congress sent it to him with that great a margin then it stands to reason if he opposed it, he would have recieved bad press. This is not a victory for the pres. its a victory for bipartisianship.

- Related- "Requires the screening of all container ships in foreign ports within five years, but gives the HOMELAND SECURITY secretary the authority to delay implementation." What part of this is the scariest? The "within five years" (like we can afford to wait) or the "delay" part?

Randy I wonder about this administration in one breath Al-Queda is coming do this, do this and if you were afraid Al-queda may do some damage wouldn't you think in the last 7 years Mr. Bush who is spreading this fear daily would get the security required on our ports and borders. What the *** is he saying. It seems to me the Ports and what comes in to this country is far more important. He does not seem to see any danger here.He gets the cart before the horse every time. - Reply to this comment
- That's ironic since its you muslims who live in caves literally and metaphorically with your barbaric ideology. Eagles can't do shiit when they're weak, diseased and cowardly.
We know why muslims resort to terrorism since you know infidels are far more powerful and will swat your umma like a bug. Now if only we can get the sleeping American giant to wake up and treat this as a real war, then you'll really see what we're capable of.

It's not a "real war".
When the Luistania was attacked by a German sub, we went to war with Germany.
When Pearl Harbor was attacked, we went to war with Japan.
When we were attacked by al Qaeda we went to war with - Iraq?!?
Attacking Iraq as part of the war on terrorism, is the equivalent of us attacking Brazil or Kenya for Pearl Harbor.
The fact of the matter is we were attacked by terrorists in Afghanistan, and instead of hunting down and killing the mastermind of this operation, Bush walked away to instead go after a sovereign nation that didn't do anything to us. In the process we've lost 3700 Americans, spent hundreds of billions of dollars, and destroyed their infrastructure, which we now feel obligated to spend billions on rebuilding.
Meanwhile the terrorists are allowed to roam free, rebuild their networks, and prepare for the next attack. - Reply to this comment

- Newt Gingrich said Thursday the Bush administration is waging a "phony war" on terrorism Posted by j-whitman,
----
You're taking him out of context. I'm very hawkish on the war and I believe he's one of the very few prominent Americans that really understands how serious this war it. Newt should be running for pres. or at least be a close advisor.
Now read his commment as intended:
"We used to be a serious country. When we got attacked at Pearl Harbor, we took on Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany," he said, referring to World War II.
"We beat all three in less than four years. We're about to enter the seventh year of this phony war against ... [terrorist groups], and we're losing."
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/2007/08/03/newt0803.html
Obviously Newt is saying we should be wiping our Islamofascist enemies out completely. He's absolutely right and I think this man is awesome for twisting both the dems/cons ears on this. - Reply to this comment
- Washington %u2014 Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday the Bush administration is waging a "phony war" on terrorism, warning that the country is losing ground against the kind of Islamic radicals who attacked the country on Sept. 11, 2001.
"None of you should believe we are winning this war. There is no evidence that we are winning this war," the ex-Georgian told a group of about 300 students attending a conference for collegiate conservatives. - Reply to this comment

He would have killed this bill too, because it's beneficial to America. Unfortunately for him, the bill was veto proof because the republicans in the house and Senate FINALLY voted to do something "for America" instead of "for the party".
"The measure carries out unfulfilled recommendations that the Sept. 11 Commission made three years ago in the wake of the terror attacks on the U.S. homeland in 2001. It was passed in the House on a 371-40 vote and 85-8 in the Senate. Republicans generally backed the bill while stressing their own administration's success in preventing another major terrorist attack." - Reply to this comment

If you think about the impossiblity of doing this in a cost efficent manner one cargo ship can hold anywhere from 8500 to 16500 containers.
Who is going to pay for the cost of this? - Reply to this comment
- Money to protect the ports! My what a novel idea! Why didn't someone think of that oh say 5 or 6 YEARS AGO! Oh wait, that's right, we didn't have the money because we were already borrowing our great grandchildren into debt to pay for Bush's war of profit in Iraq! Profit for his buddies in the war industries and oil companies that is! This isn't a presidential administration, it's a crime in progress with the American taxpayers the ones getting scr*ewed! We're witnessing the greatest grand Tet in world history with the looting of our treasury and the future of our children. Thanks for NOIHING George!
