One thing is certain about an attack within the borders of any country that the United States targets... nothing will ever be the same once the bombing starts. Not one soldier has to set foot within Pakistan to acheive total annihilation of that countries infrastructure.

To be reminded that if you don't do it we will do it for you sets a fire of huge proprotions under the butt of whoever is in charge in Pakistan. I do believe that Mr. Obama has the right attitude regarding Pakistan's responsibility to the rest of the world.

I was active duty Marine. Was with the 1st MEU in Port-au-Prince ($20 if you can point to that place) and the 2nd Lance in the Balkans. Also stood embassy duty in Zambia and Sri Lanka.

I have been to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Was on a 3 month Operational Readiness Inspection out of GITMO and had Port-au-Prince as a liberty port - it was the poorest and dirtiest place I have ever been. I served on Amphibs and when we went to sea we would pickup you Marines, if I remember correctly, at Port Elizabeth, NC.

I don't think you're one-sided. I think about 90% of everything any of us says on this site is a reaction to something someone else said which we think is over the top and it just goes on and feeds on itself. I see you as being more like a devil's advocate sent by God to punish liberals for our sins of vanity.

This is all just one big feeding frenzy and we're all a bunch of sharks and prey at the same time.

Occasionally we do exchange useful info along with the acrimony. I cherish those hallmark moments, they help to get me through the Jerry Springer Show moments.

No, I completed High School in Greenland. And only because you're looking for a huckleberry to have a pissing contest with, I'll be your Doc Holliday.

THEN I became a civillian and helped with INFOSEC at the Pentagon until I left and went to State for a while and then left the Fed after 2 years at the Department of Education. 'Now' I help local governments with next-generation curriculum delivery. Aside from that I also consult to DNC for the Iowa and NH Caucuses and register students to vote almost full time during election years.

.... in short, my whole adult life revolves around service. Should probably be aware that you'll get smacked into place when you start throwing around one non-combat tour and challenging people.

See, it isn't so unusual to find common ground when we get beyond parties. You don't have to be shot to agree -- you just have to understand that none of us really like what's going on and now it's gotten so muddled that it's just about fighting for the sake of fighting. It's okay for you to go back to your side, now, even if we briefly had a Hallmark moment.

yes, our government is horribly broken. until we get enough brave leaders that will be at least statesman, not politicians, we will continue this downward spiral.

it's just that for now, the lesser evil is NOT in the white house, and i would say the majority of commentors would call w one big scary evil.

call me pollyanna, but i'm always hoping that we elect someone that will break out of the mold.
