Veteran Alaska Republican Has Been Under Investigation In Corruption Probe
- Stevens is an old time crook who should have been out of Congress years ago.
He is the perfect reason for TERM LIMITIS!!
He sold out his state, his integrity, his vote and his soul for oodles of moola. Remember the bridge to nowhere!! That was Stevens.
The life span of the pipeline and Stevens has been reached.
RETIRE THEM BOTH!!!! - Reply to this comment
- roger_inkart - Ok, let me state it bluntly. This crook should be kicked out and sent to prison, and not the nice kind either.
As I said earlier, most of the corruption I see first hand comes from Democrats in the lovely state of Illinois. From a historical perspective, look what it took for Rostenkowski to be kicked out, and more recently, look at the actions from our governor.
I am sick of all the pork projects, from Steven's "bridge to nowhere" to Kennedy's engine that the airforce doesn't want and the Big Dig fiasco.
I think it is criminal the way many of our politicians are bought and paid for, by corporations, unions, and the like. This is happening on both sides of the aisle and should be condemned equally. - Reply to this comment
- The issue is, I don't remember the same number of one line 'Democrats are crooks and liars.' comments, similar to the one made by tejasdemo a few minutes ago when discussing Jefferson.

Really? I did. But believe whatever you want and continue to see things as you want to. For an "indepedent" you certainly seems to have an ax to grind against the Dems and their supporters. I don't see any condemnation of Mr. Stevens from you, for that matter. - Reply to this comment
- Vallel, term limits are a good idea! Try to convince Byrd, Kennedy, O'Neill and a number of others of that. Sen. Robert Byrd has been in office since 1959 and will be 90 in November of this year!
You make foolish comments when you are uneducated about what you are speaking.
lucious9, read the sentence above, it pertains to you as well.
I believe there is a Democrat in trouble right now for hiding bribe money in his freezer! - Reply to this comment
- Oh, there goes that no good Bush justice dept again! :) Personally, I think this is great. Time to purge the republican party of corrupt RINOs and start from scratch.

- Repubs have been getting caught at a about a 10 to 1 ratio to Dems on these bribery and quid pro quo schemes. Either they are more corrupt or just bad at it. And these numbers don't include the complete stonewall of Congress by the Bush admin. Stay tuned, more to come.

- What you fail to see is that Stevens is being investigated under a Republican administration. President Bush and the Republican Party do not want to cover up wrongdoing as the Dems would like to claim. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-OK, if you will recall, led the fight AGAINST Stevens regarding the bridge to nowhere even from heavy threats to Coburn from Stevens. The Republicans have been trying to STOP the pork barrel projects but the Democrats are fighting those efforts, and just recently have complained there isn't time to go over all bills, etc. Maybe if the Dems would quit spending their time with useless and knowingly fruitless, overt attempts to hurt the president and Republicans, they'd have time to do their JOBS and go over the bills.
The bridge to nowhere was blocked, however, there is funding in other areas that have been used for funding. Republican Tom Coburn was behind blocking that bridge, Dems don't get credit for it.
As for advance notice given to Stevens about the raid, are you that uneducated about the situation? This probe has been ongoing for a long, long time. Last year, because of this investigation, a number of STATE lawmakers were charged. At least the FBI raided his house and confiscated papers. Unlike with the Clintons when Hillary just claimed the papers were all missing and she just has no idea where they might be. - Reply to this comment
- roger_inkart - you seem to be one who drank party Koolaid, I am independent and vote for both parties (I am in Illinois where most of our crooks tend to be in the Democratic party).
Personally, I tend to think many members in both parties are a bunch of self-serving crooks.
The issue is, I don't remember the same number of one line 'Democrats are crooks and liars.' comments, similar to the one made by tejasdemo a few minutes ago when discussing Jefferson. It also seems that, at least here in Illinois, being a crook, is not a hindrance to being elected for Democrats, whereas the most recent Republican (Ryan) was voted out of office. - Reply to this comment
What!? Another Republican in a corruption probe? It looks like there really is a "culture of corruption" in the Republican party.- Reply to this comment
- Another GOP crook looks to be going down in flames. Deal with it. You don't do your side any favors by being outraged over your imagined Democratic hypocrisy.

There is nothing imaginary about the Democrats being hypocrits...they also have instant short term memory. One of the biggest hypocrits being Ted Kennedy...the guys enough to make a person vomit everytime he opens his mouth. The Republicans are no better...throw them all out. Both sides of the aisle smell...we better flush twice. - Reply to this comment
