- According to the latest "zogby" poll, congress and the president has the lowest approval rating ever. Only 17% of Americans approve of the job congress is doing.
"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, its the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifist for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

- Can any of you warmongering Bush supporters explain how having troops in Korea is preventing someone from packing a car with explosives and detonating it at a US shopping mall, school or nearly anywhere else?
I keep asking that question, but none of you have answered.

Can any of you hippie, there is peace without troops in iraq, everyone will be perfect when we pull out, after all this people will follow our example and start not being super fanatic religious freaks who want to blow everyone up and make sharia universal law, all will be great in the world and we will sing Kumbya together, and all racism, sexism, religious intolerance will end people....explain how not having troops in certain places because that country wants us there to make sure that their dictator, crazy, incourageable neighbors don't attack them, will change the world overnight?
Whew....I'm done now. Thanks for your wonderful well thought out comment and for giving me the opportunity to show you that you are completely ignorant of just about...well everything. Thanks. - Reply to this comment
- Mad George and his Repug co conspirator in the Senate filibuster and continue to hold our soldiers hostage in Iraq, blackmailing the American people at 10 Billion monthly, as they continue to pillage our treasury, with the spoils all going to the GOP political sect criminals. We need tax reform cut federal taxes to the minimal 75% cut across the borad and deal with reform at the state level.

- bizzzz,
All the Republicans had to do is to allow the amendment to be voted on and there would have been no all-nighter. The question is: Why didn't the Republicans just have an up or down vote to avoid the all-nighter? - Reply to this comment

- This proves the united states is done for.
Two reasons;
#1- If the US was a democracy, the government could hold a non-confidence vote and change the government.
#2- If the US was a banana republic, the people could go into the streets and change the government.
But as the US works, it is neither hot nor cold running. - Reply to this comment

- One_American,
Why not vote on it and let the President ultimately veto it? Also, hopefully, you know why Reid voted no on the cloture vote. This gives Reid the ability to bring the issue up again. He would have voted yes if the Republicans had had the courage to let the amendment be voted on. - Reply to this comment
