Louisiana Republican Apologizes For Past Actions, Says He Will Return To Work This Week
- didntinhale,
two points: Clinton didn't get a 'pass', he was impeached by the house, but not convicted by the Senate! Remember, the senate was controlled by the Republicans at the time, but still couldn't get the votes needed to remove Clinton from office! Personally, I'm not saying Clinton should have resigned, I do believe it should be a personal private matter, but Vitter said he should have resigned.. if so, then why shouldn't Vitter resign?
Secondly, it is not just a 'private matter' in Vitter's case, because he didn't have an affair, he visited a prostitute several times. He has admitted that, (in spite of the misleading headline to this article) so it's not even a question of innocent until proven guilty. That is illegal! The Washington DC prostitution ring is currently under investigation!
Vitter should follow his OWN statements when it comes to sexual scandals, and resign. As I said before, he can't have it both ways! - Reply to this comment
- Jonathan Winters once said "God is in my head, but the devil is in my pants". If you want to be in politics, you'd better make sure that your scivvies are clean! Are there no honest people out there what want to serve?

As Colin Powell mused in his book "My American Journey", "how can an honest man come up with $50 million to run for president"? - Reply to this comment
- P.S.
Vitter called for resignations from politicians who cheated on their wives in the exact same year he was making appointments with hookers.
Why aren't the 'family value conservatives' giving him the same venom they gave Clinton?
Oh, I forgot, "God" forgave him. Vitter has a direct line to the big G.
Senators have private lives? He supported legislation to invade citizens private lives.
The hypocrisy meter has to be redesigned so this jerk can register at the top. - Reply to this comment
- why if illegal crowds are capable of trading in their own private currencies in order to bring their goods to market are legal crowds not capable of trading in their own private currencies in order to bring their goods to market?

- Why are Americans so gullible to keep supporting hypocrites? I don't care if is a dem, repub, Clinton, Vitter, Foley, Swaggart, Haggard, whoever... there seems to be an overwhelming trend to embrace those politicians who you know are liars, hypocrites, deviants, and charletons.

- A man that parades his wife in front of the cameras like this scum over this issue is a sack full of krap.
The lady needs to get away from this scum ASAP.
She and her family can do without being degraded like this unless she also enjoys it.
Vitters you are 100% certified scum.
If the politicians in washington had any sense they would avoid you like a ho with AIDS. - Reply to this comment
- didn't inhale,
Regarding your contention that these kind of accusations against R's receive greater scrutiny than from D's, please offer some examples(Wilbur Mills?Ted Kennedy?Garry Studds?).
I'll offer an example where the opposite was true.
During the 1992 election, an accusation surfaced that Bush,Sr. had been having a longstanding affair with a woman that he helped to obtain a no-show job at the State department. There was no followup and it certainly didn't get the attention that accusations from Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and Monica received.
I think your partisonship is causing you to see something that's not there. - Reply to this comment
- Hey? Lets wait and see how many Dems come out of that madams black book and i will further Illustrate my point.

I wouldn't be too anxious for more names to be revealed if I were you, didntinhale. If history is any indicator, the chances are that more (R)s will show up than (D)s..... - Reply to this comment
- didntinhale, From your account of the past, you could not convince me that you did not inhale. Your account of the Clinton saga sounds as though it was seen through the eyes of a stoner. The Drudge report? Really? WOW? Have another hit....

- Former Louisiana republican congressman Bob Livingston, in line to become speaker of the house, resigned amid a *** scandal, around the same time the Clinton scandals were going on. At that time Vitter said Livingston was right to resign because he didn't have the 'moral values' needed to represent the republican party. So if that's the case , why does Vitter assume he should get a free pass?
The problem here is that they want to clam this is a 'private matter' when they didn't want to give Clinton (or Livingston) that same benefit. It's called being a hypocrite! Sorry, Senator, you can't have it both ways! - Reply to this comment
- Now Sarge? Nothing against getting a hummer men are men on both sides of the Isle my point is if were going to forgive and forget when it comes to Clinton whats good for the goose?

Your and my recollections of the Clinton coverage are quite different, didntinhale.
But be that as it may, your contention that (D)'s get a free pass and only (R)'s come under scrutiny for philandering is patently false. - Reply to this comment
- This guys guilty as anyone could be.
Bad thing is, since Billy the Boy Clinton got away with it, and was retained in Office, the precident is set. The American People condone this type of conduct, its been established by thier duely elected representatives. - Reply to this comment
- You know, its quite satisfying when someone playing the values card is exposed as a hypocrite but since the evangelicals seem to give their politicians a free pass when caught, they end up playing the part of hypocrites themselves. We ALL know the Repub party is full of hypocrites, the Democrats have their share too, why keep playing this stupid game of "gotcha", it really isn't healthy for the political climate of this country.

Oh yea... like this liar politician is actually going to tell the truth, especially with his wife there! I believe him...chuckles.
It would have been great to have heard their private discussion immediately after the accusations surfaced within the media. I bet that was some real drama...- Reply to this comment
- Pity the wife and family...not the ************ liar behind the mic.

Not that I condone Vitter's philandering, but he obviously didn't get his needs met at home so he went elsewhere.
The honorable thing to do would have been to end his marraige and find his happiness.
But he, obviously, is not an honorable man. - Reply to this comment

- Boy you got that straight Mike. If only he had the (D) THIS STORY WOULD DISSAPEAR. You crats had better watch I dont think the madame is thru nameing names from her black book.

Clinton had the (D) and his coverage didn't disappear. It went on week after week front page.
How do you square your contention that (D)'s get a free pass with the proof that such is just not the case? - Reply to this comment
- I think you folks who make fun of Mrs. Vitter are rather calllous. She appears quite attractive and probably raised as a Christian woman who believes that marriage is something sacred and worth fighting for.
Posted by rjstolba at 08:17 AM : Jul 17, 2007
And just as likely she was raised in a Christian home by a mother who taught her *** was dirty and that's what drove Vitter to find pleasure that she wouldn't provide him because of her religious hang-ups about ***.
I was married to a "believer". It's like having *** with a nun....... - Reply to this comment
