Give credit where credit is due.

She is indeed perceptive, and like you dedicated to the dark side...so much more the pity (that is for toldyou)...

"unlawful immigrant?" What happened to ILLEGAL immigrant? I'm not exactly sure which party "lost" here, but I think the American people won.

I think this Amnesty issue is quite unique because both political sides of the issue have something to win and something to lose thus the stalemate:

The Democrats win:
1. A bunch of poor thus democrat votes.
2. The ability to help the needy.

The Democrats lose:
1. Domestic services for the rest of needy (middle class) Americans with overrun schools, hospitals etc.

The Republicans win:
1. Cheap labor for big business and the Red agriculture states.

The Republicans lose:
See What the Democrats win (above)

think I figured it out. You must have some pretty little senorita across the border (or maybe already here) that you are sweet on and looked forward to this bill helping her out.
Posted by Klingon69 at 01:11 PM : Jun 29, 2007

Klingon69: if they were legal we could not even have one deported --but since they are still illegal, if an American needs a job and an "illegal" has it, the illegal can be deported and the company can get in trouble--they are still in limbo and still subject to any and all laws against them being here--and if they get caught with forged papers, that is a felony since it would be fraud and forgery charges.

We know you guys think you can fool us with reverse psychology--but the fact is, there are probably already over 20 million and counting illegals here and this bill would not stop that. We already knew this--you should figure out by now that no body fell for the reverse psychology of why they should be here, why they must stay and why --WE CAN N---E---V---E--R--D--E---P--O--R--T--T--H--E--M--ALL so resistance is futile ************. That is why YOU LOST and why they did too. Now we can still go after them--if they were legal, we couldn't.

You Guys Are A Bunch of Fat-bellied racist rednecks who don't have a life!
And you sir are an idiot.

You think you won yesterday.
We did win, NO AMNESTY for illegals WOOHOO!!!

Nothing got accomplished! If anything the illegals won because by the next time these Senators vote, we will have 20 million undocumented workers in our country.
The bill got killed, that was a great accomplishment. And they are ILLEGAL ALIENS not undocumented workers. They have plenty of documentation, stolen, fake, forged...etc.

All we did was punt the ball not score! Great Job America! We should of passed the Bill!

Aren't you always preaching that posters shouldn't insult one another, but focus instead on making meaningful comments and intelligent debate?

There are no countries in the world that share a vast border that is more dissimilar than the US/ Mexico border. To have an open border between two countries with starkly different economies, languages, cultures and value systems is to invite chaos. Yes, there are 15-20 Million illegal Mexican aliens in the USA today, but that is merely a SYMPTOM of the root problem:

Mexico has a history of corruption in government. Its laws are under siege by powerful and well armed criminal gangs. Of the 4,890 soldiers assigned by the Federal Police to help combat drug traffickers in Mexico during the 2000-2006 Administration of Vicente Fox, all but 10 deserted due to fear, according to Idalia Gomez, an investigative journalist citing Defense Secretariat figures.

If we had not killed this legislation, the floodgates would have been opened for even MORE widespread illegal immigration which threatens as it is to destroy this country and to make it much easier to usher in the planned North American Union Dictatorship, but as things stand now, we have a CHANCE to build on this success to continue awakening people to what is going on so that in the end we can DERAIL the ENTIRE New World Order population control/ Societal control agenda- an agenda that goes FAR DEEPER than this issue of Immigration alone.

I'm still trying to figure out when it became ok to break the law and get rewarded for it. (I'm not counting Enron!)

Here's my answer: When little people break little laws that benefit big people like business owners and politicians; that's when a law can be broken.

That was the best answer I've ever heard regarding this topic!!!

Feel free to copy and paste to your legislators. News reports say that since we dodn't want S1639, what do we want. I think this is a good start.

Dear Senator or Congressperson:

Defeat of S1639 yesterday was a huge blow to the Bush Presidency in a very visual way.

Do you want to salvage something from the immigration debacle?

In Sec.274A of the 1986 law it states that there is to be a %u201Csecure employment verification system%u201D. It is the responsibility of the President to monitor and assure the security of this system. It the responsibility of the President to fix the system if it is not secure, if the EWS exists, it is not secure.

This is the single most important component of the 1986 law because employers cannot held responsible for hiring illegal aliens if they are not able to verify their legal status. If we have technology for ATM%u2019s and the Internet, it should not be that difficult or expensive to design an Internet based system to verify that an applicant has the proper status to be employed.

Enforcing just this one component of the 1986 law would make a significant dent in the illegal immigration problem. Jobs for illegal%u2019s with forged papers dry up, many illegal%u2019s go back to their home country%u2019s, no jobs for new illegal%u2019s, guest worker program actually works because it is the only way for a foreigner to be employed in the US, PROBLEM SOLVED.

This means that it does not stop and it cannot be contained by borders or laws.

I wouldn't be too sure. East Germany did a VERY good job of it. And that was a pretty long wall, as well.
Posted by infidel_us at 11:05 AM : Jun 29, 2007

LOL. I meant the imaginary lines on the ground, later in that post I say the wall needs to go up, though they will dig under and a few guards will take bribes and let some in, but not a huge flow like we have now.

so why is it taking 20 years to build one here?
Posted by ezillyamused at 11:21 AM : Jun 29, 2007

Because it would take a politician with stones to make it happen......and we don't have one. If GW really wanted to do something worthwhile, he would do it because he has nothing to lose.

But since he's a "open borders" guy, it isn't going to happen. He should be impeached for not sealing the border!
