Despite Second Bush Veto, Democrats Expected To Press Legislation On Stem Cell Research

Truth is, if it were truely about WMD, then the truth is that they are still missing. Just like the issue that embryonic stem cells are not the only way to skin this cat, they dont need embryo's, and Bush didnt need WMD to invade Iraq, Iraq violated thier agreement with the UN, and they refused to disclose everything.
Clinton danced around cowardice and failed to bring the Iraq issue to an end.

Bush was right to invade Iraq-the best information at the time stated Saddam was a threat and it was a bipartisan decision backed by the UN to invade Iraq. No one could've predicted the outcome afterwards and let's not forget that its largely leftist/muslim propaganda that sought to paint the invasion as a mistake and failure.
Do you think Iraqis would shower us with kisses and flowers had we not invaded? Iraq was a breeding ground for jihadists for centuries-it was responsible for sending in their barbarian hordes to advanced civilizations like India and resulted in the massacre of 80 million Hindus, plus the destruction of their culture-massive theft and destruction of their temples, universities, libraries, etc.
Don't shed any tears for a region of the world that destroyed other countries and is continuing its assault today. The world should be rid of Islam and any of the head-choppers that support it. - Reply to this comment

THE ONLY THING BUSH HAS DONE IS VETO TAXPAYER FUNDING. YOU WANT EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH, COUGH UP THE MONEY AND PAY FOR IT YOURSELF. THEN YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH YOU WANT. - Reply to this comment
- Once again Bush misses the actual point.
If Bush actually objects to the destruction of embryonic stem cells, he should do his research and fix the source problem.
Here is the flow chart of what actually happens today.
A--Fertility clinics produce extra embryos to aid infertile couples.
B--Excess embryos are destroyed when no longer needed.
His holier-then-thou veto does nothing to change this. All people are asking for is the flow chart to be modified like this:
A--Fertility clinics produce extra embryos to aid infertile couples.
B--Excess embryos are slated to be destroyed or used to save lives when no longer needed.
C--Decision point, Do we destroy an embryo with the normal process, or use it for research? (The majority of the people providing these embryos are in favor or letting science work rather than the planned destruction.)

- Bush and the religious lunatics,
Why aren't you rescuing the tons of discarded umbilical cords/afterbirth which are loaded with stem cells every year.
By not saving them you are responsible for mass genocide according to your fraudulent and stupid notion of "santity of life" which you use to justify the banning of stem cell research.
Yet again religion proves itself to be a retarding force on human advancement and progress. Emphasis on '***'.
Now only if we could get a president in office who's give us socialized medical care, stem cell research but is also extremely hawkish on war (is not afraid to destroy our enemies to protect democracy). - Reply to this comment
- mudrose,
I agree, that's why I try to read as many sources and as broad of an array as time will allow.
Thanks for a thoughtful post. After reading pwsrlm it's quite refreshing. - Reply to this comment
- Do you really think you get a fair report???

Are you asking about fair report by MSNBC.com, or by the 144 reported on, or the report itself or by your report?
and what does your report have to do with this article "Stem Cell Fight Not Over" - Reply to this comment
- I have suffered with multiple sclerosis for more than 20 years and now I am pretty incapacitated-almost a quadriplegic and I'm looking at stem cells to hopefully repair some of the damage this disease has done to this once very active body. This veto has once again pushed the day that embryonic stem cells will be explored and may offer me hope that I can once again explore this world in reality not through the virtual world of my Computer.
I have heard all the arguments against using the embryonic stem cells from blastocysts. These people who stand in the way because of religious arguments well they truly believe their saving immortal souls. Never mind if you want to be saved and not or if souls even really exist !
since there is no arguing let's turn to a practical compromise. How about placing a sunset provision on this bill of 5 or 10 years only allowing embryonic stem cells From already created slated for destruction invitro fertilization clinics that way none would be created just to be destroyed and there is a window for research to prove its promise. That way if no benefit comes from this research we can turn our attention elsewhere.
since the majority of the people want this why should minority hold up all the funding? I suggest that if the split is 70/30 we hold up 30 percent of the funding and let me fund with my tax dollars to 70 percent this embryonic stem cell research. - Reply to this comment

Tony Blair calls the media's reporting "viewspapers", meaning they interject their views rather than report. However. the little media darlings say they are merely doing analysis, not views. Yeah, right. So we get interpretation, analysis, spin or bias. At bottom, it's all going to be someone's opinion, so ultimately people may simply have to decide whose opinions they find congenial, reliable or thought-provoking. So if no one can agree on what any given public problem is because no one knows what the basic facts are, beyond the word in a Web site's headling. Possibly we'll elect better presidents and politicians if we're thrown back on gut feeling an whatever our common sense can intuit from this weird new information ether. It all started with Agnew. - Reply to this comment
- Infidel_US,
They didn't poll the editors who decide what gets in the news or the Corproate owners...I have my own ideas as to where their political leanings go.
At any rate, where's the bias. You always seem to claim it,but the examples are always either nonexistent or pretty weak. - Reply to this comment

- As an American citizen in the past several years, I have worked with several dozen homeless people, in
faciltating shelter, food, clothing etc and because many of them are mentally ill and because of the Health care system they are unable to obtain the proper medication they need to stabilize themselves. I pray they they don;t hurt anybody, since they are Bipolar and psychotic and could acquire firearms etc, [since the Virgina Tech massacre.] The 2nd Amendment of the constitution does
not preclude themselves from acquiring firearms, besides there is always the "black market".
What we need to worry about besides the terrorist goups such as Al-Queda, Hamas,Hezbollah and what Iran and North Korea is doing as well as radical Isalmic militias, is the fact that these people can be just as dangerous, as
terrorists perhaps even worse, because of alot of them are undocumented. They are angry about the government angry about bush, angry about the system which puts them in a grave so to speak with not providing them with adequate Medical care. As a nation we have become very vunerable to say the least. Given the state of their desperation, they are liable to go to any location in the United States take a AK-47, or a M16 assault rifle and literally massacre an told amount of innnocent Americans This scares me more than the international terroists which exist. America in its demise will get a "taste of Iraq" - Reply to this comment
- Bet you won't see this on CBS' website:
"MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties."
86% of the media supports dems. Do you really think you get a fair report??? - Reply to this comment
