Given the extremely high percentage of natural abortions (some 86 percent of all fertilized ova
miscarry naturally), I tend to agree with you. - Reply to this comment
- Katg21,
I meant it as a joke to make a point. I wasn't trying to personally attack you. I apologise.
My point is there are more frozen embryos than uteruses willing to bring them to term and with or without the research, these embryos will be destroyed.
None of the other arguments changes this fact. Let's not limit the research! - Reply to this comment

Exactly my point : keeping it in public control.
The issue with the private sector is not only
the patents they could not get because results would be public domain if federally-funded, but also that successful results might end up in a drawer because less interesting to sell than
classical treatments. Remember how EV1 was removed from the market ... - Reply to this comment

Federally funded means paid for by the people. There has been no success from embryotic stem cells but there has been progress from adult. Over in England they are splicing together human and animal embryos for study. Does that sound like a good idea to any? - Reply to this comment
- abbe7I do not know what we would do with the new blastocysts since I too do not see large numbers of people clamoring to adopt these frozen blastocysts... despite Bush's photo op last year with 14 snowflake babies and families

- Bush needs to focus on growing a "brain stem" instead of worrying over stem cells.

Good one! Yep, let's hope that if Pres W gets a disease that his "lifetime membership to better than the rest of the USA citizens healthcare" will take care of him till the end. The rest of us will suffer for his decision. - Reply to this comment
- "What do you call this? If scientists were able to conduct research on embryonic stem cells under a dem's watch, why wasn't it done? Bush made the first move on this; there have been 70 successes, according to stemcellresearchfacts.com; with adult stem cells ,so why not continue in that direction?

What you basically say is that Bush agreed to federally fund the research until it was proven successful.
Why was it ethically ok then and not anymore.
You confirm what I said : the results should not be public domain otherwise they would not benefit
to Bush"s corporate friends. - Reply to this comment
