- "Let's legalize them. If they are draining our economy, let's legalize them so they won't be anymore. Simple Solution."

Legalization does not solve every problem. The Supreme Court legalized George Bush as Prez, and that sure did not solve anything. - Reply to this comment
- If you were from a third world country, you would be here as well. I know that is not our problem, but the 12 million undocumented people are our problem. Let's legalize them. If they are draining our economy, let's legalize them so they won't be anymore. Simple Solution.

I am way more worried about the US becoming a third world country than I am about the 12 million that dont belong here. - Reply to this comment
- They should learn English before they come here (serious immigrants do) so we don't have to pay to teach them.

- "most have lived under the radar for so long they are afraid to draw attention to themselves."
That's not true at all. Most of them want to be here legally, and will go to great lengths (even paying the hefty fine) to gain legality.
"And talking about education - we will have to educate all of them, so they can earn a living wage that affords healthcare"
Providing an education to their children, who are US citizens mostly, is always a plus for society in regards to future returns. Don't agree? Check out any country that doesn't provide education to their lower classes and compare. - Reply to this comment
- When illegals go to the grocery store and purchase a toothbrush, they are paying taxes. With this new bill, they are required to pay back taxes. They are also paying fees.
"They have far too many dependents".
How stereotypical is this?
How do you know this?
A little racist, ya think? - Reply to this comment
- "We're going to show the American people that the promises in this bill will be kept."
President Bush
Emperor Bush has already declared the illegals to be "the American people". - Reply to this comment
- The only taxes they're paying are gas tax and sales tax. That's probably why they're pushing for a consumption tax. When someone claims six kids here and six kids in Mexico and two sets of parents, there's not a lot of income left to tax at $3300 per exemption.

Simple, not easy. I'll bet that fewer than a third of those 12 million undocumented people will step up and declare themselves. Most can't afford the fees (do I hear anyone suggest that we taxpayers subsidize them?) and most have lived under the radar for so long they are afraid to draw attention to themselves. And talking about education - we will have to educate all of them, so they can earn a living wage that affords healthcare - there goes Bush's theory. If we are going to keep them in the minimum income scale, we will still be offering welfare. We can't get them above minimum wage, because Bush's buddies have been promised slave labor with the taxpayers picking up the welfare benefits. - Reply to this comment
- penskeone, these people willnever pay federal taxes. They have far too many dependents. And whatever SS has been witheld has been done on fraudulent numbers and is illegal. Your argument does not hold water. Look at the figures.
