Gallup Survey Finds 68% Of Republicans Disbelieve Scientific Explanation Of Creation
- "There is a mountain of evidence that supports evolution. Evolution can be observed in nature, studied in the laboratory, seen in the fossil record.
The only evidence for creationism is the bible."
But the bible says the bible is the only thing we need! - Reply to this comment

- "Science is simply a bunch of shorthand observations of the way things in nature normally behave. Assumptions have to be made that these things behave exactly the same way all the time, even when we're not observing them. Nobody can prove this, and nobody can prove that God did not create the universe. This is common sense.

The problem is not there. Nobody tells you that you shouldn't believe in the bible, the quran or whatever pleases you. The problem is that you use a book made by men in the 4th century by
cherry-picking in what was available at the time to fullfill a political agenda, you take what it says verbatim (despite translation issues) to decide that what science has found to pretty well describe nature must be wrong.
And, by the way, evolution has not much to do with the big bang. - Reply to this comment
- By the way, can you PROVE that it is IMPOSSIBLE that George W. Bush is actually a double agent for al Qaeda ? Until you can, is there any reason to doubt it ?

He is. How else can you explain his actions? - Reply to this comment

Hey Mike,
Science does not try to NOT prove that God exists. It may create contradictions with the bible or other mythological profits from other religions, but keep in mind that science is for finding answers to the questions of our reality. Religions "assume" that reality is defined by guidelines set from, man written, age-old texts.

- "...and you don't find something silly about the notion that the universe and all life forms simply exploded from a piece of matter small than the head of a pin? That, to me, is comedy."

That's slightly less comical than creation out of nothing at all. And much less comical than the creation of Adam from a lump of mud, and Eve from his rib.
Life forms did not "simply" explode, but I see that further discussion is wasted on one who takes his scientific knowledge from Jerry Falwell, who believed in all sorts of nonsense for fear of going to hell.

- "It's a lot easier to simply say "GOD DID IT!" rather than trying to be educated about all the great things we have been able to learn over the last few hundred years thanks to science and understanding."

I suppose if we are educated with what we have learned over several thousands of years (the Bible), it's somehow less legitimate than what we've learned over the last few hundred years (science). Gee, that's smart. Sign me up for that. - Reply to this comment

And no one can prove that life didn't begin in a stream of pi*ss from an incredibly huge giant from another dimension. If I wrote a book advocating that, presented it as a matter of faith, then I'll bet I could have an active church going by the end of this year. You can't prove me wrong can you and how dare you try to stop me from teaching MY beliefs in the school to your children! Obviously you must be a devil worshiper! Or worse an ATHIEST!!! - Reply to this comment
