Republicans Block Symbolic Measure Against Embattled Attorney General
- National Council of LaRaza confirms that Alberto Gonzales is one of their members. Those of us in border states know the slogan of this group:
"For those within 'the race,' everything; for those outside 'the race,' nothing."
The definition of "the race" of course, is "Hispanics/Latinos/Chicanos" or whatever their current name du jour. Should a "white" candidate be a member of the KuKluxKlan or other white supremacist group, the National Council of La Raza would scream in outrage. Seems they believe that racists are only "white." - Reply to this comment
- Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.
He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.
He qualifies for food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.
If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.
He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.
The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.
Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people. - Reply to this comment
- If you cannot figure that out, Muddy, there no use in trying to educate you. You're too simple to connect the dots, even when we draw it out in the dirt for you. That's OK, though, it looks like you have lots of Republican cohorts who have stuck their head in the sand and reject evolution too. Nothing like safety in numbers.

Mudrose,
I thought your ilk (libertarian) were objective but your comments reek of anti-democrat all the baby ! - Reply to this comment
- First of all the immigration bill consists of a compromise between Dems and Repubs (including Pres. Bush who started the conversation). Republicans pretend that building a wall and using only criminal approaches will solve this problem. BUILDING A WALL WILL DEFINITELY SOLVE THE PROBELM. USING CRIMINAL APPROACHES I AGREE WILL NOT.
Not gonna happen as long as the Republicans will not go after the employers who make this labor pipeline possible (if you want to emphasize a punitive approach how 'bout throwing some employers in jail!) I AGREE 100%.
With respect to amnesty, look up a definiton and it will describe a complete pardon. The process spelled out, complete with stiff fines and a lengthy citizenship process, certainly does not constitute a total pardon/amnesty. AS IF THEY WILL PAY.
You on the right simply use the term because it resonates with a simplistic faction that can't seem to figure out it is their own corporately controlled Republican Party that has engineered the demise of the working class in this country.
THAT'S NOT A REPUBLICAN STANCE - CORPORATE MAYBE. ONLY WAY GOVERNMENT CAN REGULATE THAT IS TO PUNISH EMPLOYERS WHO HIRE ILLEGALS. ONE OF THE FEW TIMES I'VE FOR GOVERNMENT REGULATION. - Reply to this comment
- What's the point of helping create the conditions that allowed for the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism and the theocracy of Ayatollah Khomeini? What's the point of having been instrumental in creating the monster that was Saddam Hussein? What's the point in having been responsible for creating the conditions in Afghanistan that allowed for the emergence of the Taliban and al-Qaeda? If you cannot figure that out, Muddy, there no use in trying to educate you. You're too simple to connect the dots, even when we draw it out in the dirt for you. - Let's add up the tally: building up Saddam Hussein AND elements of what would become the Taliban and al Qaeda. Now there's some long-term planning for you, eh Muddy.

- Pardon me. Harry's comment was "undocumented Americans". If that doesn't speak of amnesty I don't know what does.

Again, to place the fault of a civil religious war that overthrew the Shah is simplistic. However, you wanna talk about what "your boys" (Reagan & Bush) did. Reagan responded to Iran by first secretly negotiating with the Iranians, then building up Saddam Hussein as a dictatorial counter-balance. We even negotiated the sale of chemical weapons to Sir Hussein. Then we aided the mujahadeen in Afghanistan (which included folks like Osama bin Laden). More brilliance. Then they topped it off by funding a group of terrorists known as the Contras by secretly funneling arms sales to the Iranian regime. Let's add up the tally: building up Saddam Hussein AND elements of what would become the Taliban and al Qaeda. Now there's some long-term planning for you, eh Muddy. - Reply to this comment
- The grassroots constitutes a vocal minority that couldn't list the provisions of the bill, especially since they have been blinded by a simple sound byte like "amnesty" - the bill doesn't offer amnesty but rather a process that encourages, at significant cost, the 12 million illegals to come out in the open. Of course, you must parrot AMNESTY, AMNESTY, AMNESTY because you heard it on Limbaugh or O'Reilly and it does a nice job of replacing rational and intelligent debate.

Why don't you ask Harry who seems to feel that this group of illegal aliens are only undocumented aliens. Or why don't you inquire a little further as to why Ted Kennedy seems to feel that any illegal alien that has committed a crime should not be sent back to his country of origin? There are a lot of things wrong with this bill and according to Harry amensty seems to be one of them. Your turn to parrot. - Reply to this comment
- Gonzale has a mental disorder. He needs to get mental help before he forget where he lives and what him wife's name is. Democrats should be more considerate by helping him find the restroom, etc..
Bush, Cheney, their aids and Cabinet members have attracted a peculiar brain disorder. It is affecting young and old, male and female, and all ethnic groups..
It is believed that Rove is the carrier of the disease. He has spread the disease throughout the Whitehouse and to Montgomery, Al. where it has been contracted by two U.S. Attorneys and Governor Riley. A code orange has been issued there.
This disorder is similar to Alzheimer's Disease except memory loss only occurs when the subjects are asked questions by the FBI, congressional committees or in witness chairs in a Federal Court rooms. This brain disorder also causes the subject to lie. When caught in a lie they often make weird facial expressions. Instead of getting help and reporting unlawful activities that brings these conditions on, they instead are slowly all resigning and/or going to prison. - Reply to this comment

- To lay that upon the foot of Jimmah is both ignorant and asinine. Brush off your history books, Muddy, if you wish to continue to pass off your spawn as professorial wisdom.

If you want to claim such historical wisdom, at least get your history straight, Muddy. Iran didn't begin with Carter, it started back when the United States removed Mohammad Mossadegh in a military coup and reinstituted a young and impressionable Shah Reza Pahlavi. Why did we remove the elected Prime Minister? He had the audacity to nationalize the oil industry and claim Iranian oil as the sole domain of Iran! Once removed, the U.S. helped build up the Shah, who embarked on a modernization program dubbed the White Revolution. Unfortunately, given the manner in which he came to power, the Shah had to rule in a harsh and dictatorial fashion (his secret police, SAVAK, becoming especially notorious). The only available outlet for Iranian anger at this repression came through the mosques, and into our midst came a powerful religious cleric, the Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini's following, known as the Islamic Fundamentalist Revolution, introduced a radical form of Islam that has evolved into the menace we now face today. To lay that upon the foot of Jimmah is both ignorant and asinine. Brush off your history books, Muddy, if you wish to continue to pass off your spawn as professorial wisdom. - Reply to this comment
- Go back to school and take a simple civics or American Government class Mikey. The Democrats pass logical legislation like minimum wage change and the Republicans filibuster. FALSE. THE DUMNOS PUT THE MINIMUM WAGE LEGISLATION IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL.
The Democrats seek realistic (non-binding) benchmarks for progress in Iraq as part of the funding measures and President Bush vetoes the legislation. YOU DON'T GIVE THE ENEMY YOUR DEPARTURE TIME LINE.
A bi-partisan group of Democrats and Republicans, with White House support, puts together an immigration bill that begins to deal with the reality on the ground, and the Republicans...filibuster. - His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.
Sounds like your posts.
