And I'm saying were over documented already. Also just because we have documentation we don't need to give the government the right to demand we prove our citizenship just because they ask or suspect we might not be citizens. That's a presumption of guilt and they must have probable cause. Once we go down that slippery slope then any cop will be able to come into your home anytime they please and demand to see your citizenship papers. They'll be able to search you anytime they please just out of pure curiosity. That's not an America I want to live in!

Anyone who surrenders freedom for security is a coward who does not deserve the name "American".

Well RandalDS, with all due respect, you'd be about the last person in the country I'd consult on national security. In fact, based on your posts, I think the demise of America is something you'd probably actively support.

People have to be documented RandalDS, that's why we have birth and death certificates, passports, IDs, drivers licenses, employee IDs, military IDs. There are dozens hanging out in the Home Depot parking lot with not one form of ID.

Oh I see, destroy our rights in order to save them, right? Hey I know a place where you'll be safe from all outsiders, taken care of completely and protected 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It's called prison. If you want to give up your freedom for security then check yourself into one or go to another country, because too many people died to give you the freedom you seem eager to pis*s away. Anyone who surrenders freedom for security is a coward who does not deserve the name "American".

Do you really want to live in a country where any government official can come up to you and demand to see "Your papers"?Posted by RandalDS at 09:08 PM : Jun 11, 2007

We're one terrorist attack away from that anyway, so we might as well get started.

Yeah, RandalDS, I do. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I talked to a fellow today from Bulgaria and I was acutally arguing your point. He kept saying how blind we all are and how the country has hit an irreversible tipping point and democracy is in jeapardy. I know how deeply these people appreciate freedom and how keenly aware of it's threat so I do take his comments into consideration. We just be too blind to see what is right before our eyes.

We'd still be harvesting wheat by machete if we'd had illegals.
Posted by lestb35 at 09:06 PM : Jun 11, 2007

We never harvested wheat with machetes and in fact it'd be almost impossible to do. What kind of farm were you raised on anyway?

Farm machinery simply can not replace human hands in many types of harvesting. Attempts have been made to create ones that harvest grapes and soft fruits (peaches, plums, etc), but the just bruise too easily for machines to do the job.

I think it's about time for everyone to start coming up with a birth certificate, documentation of citizenship or green card, if you don't have any than adios amigos.

It'll never pass Constitutional muster. Do you really want to live in a country where any government official can come up to you and demand to see "Your papers"? I don't and I doubt that most people will either. The government already has way too much power over us as it is and there's lots of laws that need to be rolled back (starting with that piece of sh*it "Patriot act").

It is just not possible. There MUST be an amnesty program of some kind.
Posted by clestes at 04:24 PM : Jun 11, 2007

No amnesty we will never agree to amnesty. This must be a message sent loud and clear all over the world. We will not tolerate illegal immigration. Most illegals will go home when they can't get jobs or services. We can give them a free trip home and amnesty in the form of applying for legal immigration even though they've broken the law.

"No other industrialized country on the planet offers immediate citizenship to a child just because they are born there."

So you want to go live there? At least they have nothing against guest worker programs and such. At any rate, if you all want to repeal the amendment, I suggest we make it retroactive to about 1776. Oopss! Back to merry ol' England, eh?

These bureaucrats would have the power to levy international taxes, something Bilderberg has wanted for many years. Bilderberg prefers, as members have said many times at their meetings over many years, a UN tax on oil at the wellhead. Starting at perhaps 10 cents a barrel, Americans would be unaware they are paying a direct tax to the UN when buying gas. But, like the income tax, it would grow to usurious levels. But the principle is important to Bilderberg: a direct tax on people of the world would be a major step toward global government. Such a tax has been pending before the UN for years but unreported in the mainstream media.

The LOST taxes would be disguised as assessments, fees, permits or payments. But they will cost you money.

But the good news is, Bilderberg is upset that, as public knowledge and indignation rises, the plan for global government is years behind schedule. In the 1990s, Bilderberg was confident that, by 2000, the merging of Europe into a single superstate would be completed and the %u201CAmerican Union%u201D would be well on the way to completion. But two nations failed to ratify the EU constitution, keeping it from taking effect. And outraged Americans have prevented NAFTA from evolving into the %u201CAmerican Union.%u201D

They would just find a way to either steal them or have another thief make one for them. I sometimes think it's more the thrill of the whole thing than it is needing to work and provide for hungry families. I know, I know...we all know of too many who work their fingers to the bones and really need the work here. Too bad they have to be swallowed up because of the other 99% who just plain don't give a f.....about our laws and the drain they are on our resources and the damage they do to the people they lie, steal, and cheat off of here. I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep if every single one of them got tossed out. My solution is to let every single one who has been here for more than 2 years and has not stolen (they say borrowed) ID to work or drive, have not received any kind of social service for healthcare, housing, food, you name it, and has a clean criminal background check...stay. No penalties, no fees other than what it costs to process papers. Now...how many would qualify?

This amendment is not a real solution to the problem. The problem is the lack of decent employment in Mexico and other nations. Developing standardized wages in conjunction with current trade policies and enforcing the standarized wages. Standardized wages would be relevant to the economys of the nations producing, growing or manufacturing the goods. Tariffs and stiff penalties for corporations, nations not in compliance with the standardized wages. Go back and rework the free trade treaties and make those treaties do what they were theoratically designed to do uplift the standard of living and promote freedom.

Bush is the worst president in our history -- by a longshot. He has bankrupted the nation, squandered thousands of American lives and much treasure in Iraq on the basis of a complete tissue of lies, worked assiduously to undermine and destroy the middle class, torn down and disabled venerable government institutions that once protected American citizens from greedy interlopers, sold off the nation's assets to his cronies, brought international disrepute to our beloved country, AND TRIED TO RAM THE IMMIGRATION AMNESTY BILL DOWN AMERICA'S THROAT FOR THE BENEFIT OF HIS RICH BUDDIES. His stupidity, sheer arrogance and doggedness have proved to be a very, very dangerous combination. Congress needs to let Bush know in no uncertain terms that his beloved immigration bill is dead, and that Bush will not be president when new immigration legislation is eventually enacted. Immigration reform is far too important of an issue to have a muddle-headed moron like King George, and his team of like-muddle-headed morons (e.g., Chertoff the Worthless, aka "Mr. Do Nothing -- Katrina Was Not My Fault") involved in it in any substantive manner. Congress needs to perform its long-neglected oversight function and push back HARD at King George and let him know this bill is dead. If Congress cannot do the job it was elected to perform, we will vote the offending scoundrels out of office. NO AMNESTY!
