President Slams Critics Who Say Plan Offers Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants
- It would be refreshing to see CBS do an HONEST poll online concerning immigration. And not via those annoying popups that slide across my screen either. I am talking front page, top left, for one week, and with only 7 simple questions with check boxes and no log-in. Leave out that idiotic Don't Know answer because if you don't know by now, you NEVER will.
"Are you in favor of amnesty for illegal immigrants?" Yes or No
"Should America deport illegal immigrants according to the law?" Yes or No
"Do you think the President has a plan that will work? Yes or No
"Have you ever hired an illegal immigrant?" Yes or No
"Will granting amnesty to illegal immigrants affect your livelihood as a citizen?" Yes or No
"Do you know your Senator and Representative's stand on illegal immigration?" Yes or No
Place a drop-down box with states to pick from and then hit ENTER. Once ENTER is hit, the current results of the poll is shown. It is simple coding, so it can easily be done.
CBS won't ever do it, but it would certainly be intriguing to see the HONEST answers for a change.... - Reply to this comment
- Most in this country just want the rule of law. Big business (wanting cheap labor) and the one world open borders crowd want to get around the law. If it truly was impossible to secure the border or deport most of the illegals, those in the big business and open borders camps wouldn't object to it so much. Likewise, if big business or the open borders camps sincerely believed their visions were better, they would come out and make an honest case. But, they know they can't convince the masses to go along with their self interests, so they try to hide their agendas behind propaganda, name calling, and new laws that won't be enforced either.

- All of that makes perfect sense, ozilot but it is still no reason to erode our borders and erode our citizenship. Without the strong identity of Americans we are no longer a country just an economy. To me that is uncacceptable. It has absolutely nothing to do with race it is natioanality that I'm concerned with.

ozilot, try anther perspective. We have made it on our own for over two hundred years and done just fine. If you want a govt. run by global internationalists, fine but it's really not the way it was intended and we the people will hve very little influence. We have very little now but bring in that many new Americans with very little knowledge or history as to how the country works and who are easily manipulated by big business and we'll have no voice at all. - Reply to this comment
- The trouble with the bill is that it gives no incentive to businesses to ever raise wages. We'll have a two tiered society. It's a very racist bill actually.

- Amnesty is what you will need George when your time in office is over, I suggest you attempt to read a dictionary where you might be able to comprehend the definition of Amnesty.

I like that one too--but it is for entertainment. I think someone could run on my plan in a platform ---maybe not in Mass. but I think in the heartland, it might get approved. LOL - Reply to this comment

- CORRECTION:
Hmmm. you are either not very astute or maybe deliberately dense? I don't recall the 1980s being the dark ages. What do you not like about getting rid of the ILLEGAL immigrants and replacing them in jobs with legal ones already in line?
You are obviously a Hispanic--trying to exploit what you think is the "gringo" weakness for stuff and the laziness you and your people keep hearing about. Just remember, you want to come here and stay for what we have--and we had all of that before YOU. As for your other comments--I won't even dignify them with a response--suffice to say I asked if you wanted cheese with your whine--you already have plenty of that. rotflmao
You don't want answers--it is obvious you just want attention. Last post to you--TROLLita. LOL

So you would have us go back to the dark ages, settle for a "simplier life," if that works for you then do it! No need to wait for a law! Show us the conviction of "alledged" principles go live your backwoods life who is stoping you?
I already told go ahead send the illegals back...I can at least aford to have white people do my laundry, mow my lawn, clean my house (oops a white lady is already doing that...but my former Brazilian maid did a better job!)

- Part 2
5. Law is passed making children born on American soil have the same citizenship as their origin or parents. Option to become American citizens can be activated at the age of maturity but also will require that they do not sponsor anyone for a minimum of 5 years and after that, such sponsorship is limited to their immediate family 1 allowed every 3 years.
6. English mandated as the official language and every person must be proficient within a certain time period
7. Voluntary public service either civil or military for EVERYONE--Americans and immigrants
8. companies that outsource jobs stopped from being allowed to have offshore accounts and can only do business as American co if at least 85% of their business is in America.
9. If companies are not American, then just like Japan and Europe does--all imports are taxed at such a level that local products are cheaper than the foreign imports
10. Children left without parents due to incarceration are returned to country of origin if possible OR remanded over to state custody and subject to foster care or adoption
Thank you for asking for this. I have posted similar remarks so many times, I forgot that some may not have ever read them. - Reply to this comment
- You especially are so fond of pointing out all the reasons why illegals are a problem and I agree, there are many problems with the invaders being here. However, it would be more productive to point out some solutions, instead of simply venting.
Posted by nottellin1 at 03:57 PM : May 30, 2007
Ahhhh. so you have never heard my solutions? There is a part 1 and 2 Here they are:
1. Principals of any company of any size face a 10K fine for each illegal they are caught employing. IST offense
2. Principals of any company committing additional offenses face mandatory 1 year to 5 years in prison. If a 3rd offense the business is confiscated and resold on the open market
3. Any American citizen caught aiding or abetting the harboring of an illegal or fleeing illegal is guilty of a felony and for the first offense will get probation, additional offenses, mandatory prison time
4. Illegals when caught (and they can easily be caught, look at the Walmart, hotels, restaurants, home depot, WIC office, hospitals, schools, Six flags, race tracks, etc) are deported the first time. REcurring offense mandatory prison time.
Those in prison are leased out as prison labor to migrant farms for a nominal fee--but no money goes home and the incentive to sneak here is gone. - Reply to this comment

- The purpose of an amnesty(yes, that's exactly what it is)
Posted by realpatriot1 at 03:33 PM : May 30, 2007
The problem is--it still is self perpetuating. Because one of the facts about these workers are that they are often underpaid, do not have benefits and have been exploited and compromised (we had a case in IA where a boss was not only not paying the workers, but forced the females to have intercourse with him). LA has reported numerous abuses even with the workers Bush sanctioned to rebuild. They do not have health care, are often not paid and do not have recourse. This is not about simply cheaper work but exploitation. When these workers become legal, they will demand what they should have had all along-better working conditions and benefits. businesses will balk and the gravy train primarily from the south starts all over again including the government refusing to enforce the law.
The last laws were enforceable. Do you know what they were? The only NEW bit in this amnesty is the wall--everything else is rehashing what was on the books. It not only got the supposed 8 million out in the open, it encouraged 6 to 8 million more with forged paperwork to rush into America for the amnesty. Then they all sent for relatives and friends...and here we are...and also--here we will be in another 10 to 20 years--except you may be on the side that I am on--but alas...politics by then, may be against the both of us. - Reply to this comment
- people should be aware that there are now not only drug resistant TB , but also menningitis, syphillis, gonnorhea, leprosy and flesh eating (necrotizing) staph bacteria
The VD is believed to have come out if the orient, and made its way here primrily due to tourists and unprotected sexxxx. leprosy from Latin America and India, spread mostly by undocumented workers....the staph is usually found in gulf waters and has been traced to Mexico.
Illegal immigration isn't just about jobs or borders---legal immigrants are screened for health problems and cannot enter if they have a contagious or parasitical infection. Illegals bypass that safety net and the CDC and hospitals know this. The states with the highest incidence of these diseases are Texas, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Florida. This is not a coincidence--all are points of origin to Mexico or Central America. - Reply to this comment
- I've tried to solve this issue with my posting before and I know it will work. People, as a rule, are gullible. I call it:
Amnesty-Fest 2007
The solution is right in front of our noses as LEGAL citizens and being use to lies and deception by our leadership, so here is my solution:
The governement passes the amnesty bill and every ILLEGALLY, TRESPASSING, LAWBREAKER rejoices in the freedom they will soon have once it is signed on Amnesty-Fest 2007 Day. A mass advertising campaign blitzes the Hispanic media touting Amnesty-Fest 2007 as the gala of all FREEDOM festivals! Location will be just north of the Mexican border in SW Texas where it will hold ALL the 12 million revelers of freedom. Santana will headline and be one of many live bands performing, plus endless amounts of food, pinata parties for the kids, PLUS it is ADVERTISED as where America hands out OFFICIAL AMNESTY PAPERS and GREEN CARDS for ALL! Just as Santana takes the stage, the military launches the largest stealth offensive since WWII and surrounds the festival with tanks, soldiers, police, LEGAL citizens, while helicopters and jets storm overhead. Then, AMERICANS begin driving ILLEGALS back from whence they came from and they ALL get a taste of governemt deception just like we do! It will merely cost a few million in advertising promotions, but will save trillions of future dollars and what better way to get them all rounded up in one place.... - Reply to this comment
- The purpose of an amnesty(yes, that's exactly what it is) is to get as many employers and workers as possible to come out of the shadows. You don't do that by threatening to put people in jail, you do it by saying come forward now or else go to jail later. You may have employers who don't want to come forward but are outed by their workers who do and vice versa. You make improvements to border security, deport those who won't cooperate as you find them, and over time you get a handle on the problem.
Posted by realpatriot1 at 03:33 PM : May 30, 2007
This is all correct, however, I've read this legislation and if the plan were to penalize anyone who didn't immediately come forward to claim legality, that would be so much better than this bill. We would actually have a chance at identifying the invaders. Sadly, there is nothing of the sort in this bill. So the end result is that the invaders will simply stay, not check in and continue as before. In other words, this bill will give away so much and accomplish so little. - Reply to this comment
- Many would forge the G visa and employers would claim they thought they were real...then they would complain that they could not be expected to know such documents were forgeries.

- toldyouso21,
You're right that no law works if it can't be enforced and that what was done previously has not been enforced. That's why we need a set of laws that is enforceable.
The problem of undocumented workers in the shadow economy has been going on and growing for a very long time with no real efforts to get a handle on it. The figure being thrown around of 12 million people is nothing more than an estimate, we really don't know the scope of the problem. How can we deport people if we can't track them.
