- processor2,
Thanks for your service. I was in the navy. Yes, our navy! :)
As for Iraq, the only reason we are hated over there is because of our support of Isreal. By and large, the Iraqis DO NOT believe we are occupiers or are there for their oil. - Reply to this comment
- I remember hearing this story of Uncle Remus,
Every morning he would go down to the fishing pond and catch a bucket full of tadpoles. He would then come back and sit under a big Oak tree by the side of the road. He would take these tadpoles and nail them to a big round board in a circle, and every time somebody came by he would spin the board around and when it stopped he would "Tadpole, Tadpole is the winner. - Reply to this comment
- Its simple, really: the Democrats don't hold enough seats in Congress to override a presidentail veto.
Let us all be clear on this: the REPUBLICANS started this war, the REPUBLICANS keep the war going, the REPUBLICANS refuse to change course at all, and the REPUBLICANS refuse to get us out.
If the Democrats had a greater majority in Congress (and held the White House), then things in American would be MUCH different.
Until then, we need to be ready for as much idiocy from this government as possible.
But everyone should REMEMBER all this in November 2008! - Reply to this comment
- Wacky world - the political environment which consumes the American Public%u2019s daily life in totality. When politicians can decide, irregardless of what the PEOPLE decide, that more American troops can be added to the "killed in action" list without any move towards stopping the senseless and irresponsible venue causing such --this is an onerous on the Public so deep that we - the American People - should be ashamed of our open permission to let politicians have such humongerous power.
The Republicans created UNITY in 2000 and that was and is an accomplishment - especially when attempting to decide an issue. However, it is a detriment to good management when ALL REPUBLICANS ARE SUPPOSED TO ACT ACCORDING TO ONE PERSON%u2019S VENDETTA. UNITY becomes an albatross that the GOOD REPUBLICAN member cannot shed when preparing to vote in a manner consistent with WHAT THEIR CONSTITUENTS desire as their cause. The UNITY takes away completely the act of FREEDOM TO VOTE - except in only a singular mode.
Yesterday President Bush openly told the PEOPLE they could expect %u201CAUGUST COULD PROVE TO BE A BLOODY MONTH FOR THE U.S. TROOPS. How many more %u201Cbloody months%u201D are to be marked up on the calendar to December 31 2008. When is the media going to stop supporting this deranged mode of creating a legacy and help the people instead of politicians.
August could prove to be a bloody month for U.S. troops - Reply to this comment

- Watching Bu$h in power reminds me of that little kid no one likes, running around the playground, grimly keeping the ball away from everyone else.
76 percent of the US knows he is wrong, opposes his every move, yet he and the bullies he wisely chose keep hoarding the ball, threatening to do harm to those who just want to play... - Reply to this comment
- As predicted by everyone.
Jerkface knew once he got the troops into Iraq that Congress would have to pay and pay and pay.
Now with that country destabilized the next president has to deal with it. Jerkface will be back in Texas, where he and all other jerks belong, enjoying the barbeque. - Reply to this comment

Private Joker: "I'm a combat correspondent."
Animal Mother: "Well you seen much combat?"
Private Joker: "I've seen a little... on TV."
Animal Mother: "You're a real comedian."
Private Joker: "Well they call me the Joker."
Animal Mother: "Well I got a joke for you. I'm gonna tear you a new a**hole."
Private Joker: "Well pilgrim, only after you eat the peanuts out of my sh**."
Animal Mother: "You talk the talk. Do you walk the walk?"

- If we could just turn back the hands of time. How many people would have changed their vote for president?
Especially the last election, it should not have even been close enough to rig. The people of the US narrowly re-elected Bush knowing full well his character, true colors and the company he kept.
I mean, come on! He lied about the reasons for invading Iraq, first time in history as an aggressor, and people out there still voted for him?
Even the dems are powerless against King George the Great! Ruler and Decider of the World!
All Hail and Bow! (like Harry Reid in the picture)

- Guess what America: Dictatorship:
Modern dictators usually use force or fraud to gain power and then keep it through intimidation, terror, suppression of civil liberties, and control of the mass media.
Half of this country has griped for 7 years. It hasn't stopped Bush or Cheney's forwarding their personal, party, oil agendas, using every tool including war.
A few of their administration have gone down, but that is collateral damage. The only key person was Rummie and he just resigned. Aides and underlings mean nothing.
Face it, the Republicans have got this country by the short hairs and they are all sticking together (after all, the GOP good old boy system would rather support a lying Rep than any Dem).
How much freedom do the rest of us plan to give up before we revolt against these people.
Bush has another year, but what if the next president is another GOP-programmed monster of this same ilk?
The horror of this administration didn't end with Elections 2006, it very well might not end with Elections 2008 either. - Reply to this comment

- Bush has too much power and money. As long as he is in office, he will always get what he wants. All he has to do is bark and open his wallet and the Republicans do his bidding. Once we get rid of Bush, our government will change.

- Many of you live in a world that is full of political lies and government plots and betrayals.
You believe in conspiracies, in overthrowing the government and lynching elected officials. Do you ever notice that the world is not so calamitous as the pictures in your heads? Do you have any real-world evidence that folks are clamoring for you to take charge because only you understand the truth?
What is actually happening in Washington is the beginning of a compromise about the end of the Iraq War. In Lebanon or Iraq itself or Palestine this issue would be fought about in the streets with all the violence that some of you admire. Here in the US, the key politicians will be the moderates -- DEMS who dont want collapse and chaos in Iraq/Persian Gulf and REPS who demand that Iraqis defend their own government. An anti-terrorist strike force will remain somewhere in or near Iraq and the Iraqi military will take on the major role in country.
Thankfully, we live in a country where each party is willing to "sell out" its extreme supporters. - Reply to this comment

- Musty2U - we are supposedly represented - BUT - the fact is that for the last 6 years Bush's political needs and idealogies were what was protected by our so-called representatives. Do you truly believe the likes of Boehner, DeLay and Frist were acting on your behalf - or on theirs and Bushes.
There is representation and then there is thuggery - we got the thuggery. - Reply to this comment
