Fence sitting is fine, when all is peaceful and folks are just going about their lives.

War, however makes fence sitters accessory to war. Not reporting, or not taking a stand where people are loosing their lives, is accessory to murder.

I am the opposite of you, I see a great many indicators of quiet Bush approval. I, like you, am equally stunned, but at how far he has managed to push his war campaign beyond the real terrorist war of Afganistan.

And I do not speak to belittle you in any way. I just wish to make my anti-war position known, which does not extend to our going into Afganistan or from supporting the troops of which I am one. I have felt the US having taken a diplomacy stance vs. the war route would not have been weakness, it is the more difficult of the two and requires far more patience, intelligent, and compassion than war ever requires. Those are not attributes our P/VP have proven themselves to have these long 7 years.

That diplomacy was not utilized outside Afganistan, either for Iraq or now for Iran indicates deeper issues on which no media organziation is even bothering to look at. It is so ugly what is being allowed to happen under a free media in a free country.

usadvisor101,

First off, Semper Fi Marine, thank you for your service. I am a Viet Nam vet (69) Amtrac's.

I am an Independent, I read these blogs and all I see are "Lib's" and "Neocon's" hurling insults, names, and facts at each other all the time. Everyone has their talking points and they are very passionate about them just like you are. People will believe what side they want to believe.

As far as this being a war about oil, I don't believe it, it would have been far cheaper to leave Saddam in power and buy it.

As far as an incompetint commander in chief, that's not for me to decide, we use to say, "We don't make grand strategy, we just go where the man tells us to go."

As for "King George," being stubborn, some people say that's a sign of a strong leader.

I read alot, and I'm not going to tell you that you are wrong, you believe your facts and I believe mine.

I think Iraq is a piece of the over all Middle East problems puzzle.

I have supported the war and am waiting for September to see what I do next.

Once a Marine, always a Marine. Take care.

AaaBee,

I see it as, everything has two sides to it and depending on who you are talking to, one will say they approve and the other will not.

I'm not arguing with you, I was just shocked to see someone say that someone had approval for Bush on anything; I don't see that everyday.

Live Long and Prosper.

hey Realpatriot1, may I reprint what you said. It is worth doing so.

"You may be right that the Democrats surrendered on the surrender date as you say. But,more importantly, May 7 was surrender democracy day in America when the White House released a directive declaring that in the event of a nationalemergency(as defined by only the President)that all power of the Federal and all local governments would be in the hands of the President. The President would control the entire government, not just the executive branch. Under a crisis as defined by only him, he would be a Dictator holding all power in the country.

Why do you suppose the White House thinks we need this? I'm not making this up, this directive was released by the White House, not by moveon.org.

Can there be any more debate that the President sees himself as being above the law and not beholding to the Constitution or any checks and balances?

This isn't about Democrats vs. Republicans, it's about Democracy vs. Dictatorship.

You all our worried about the terrorists coming here and establishing Sharia law. The White House has just released its own Sharia law. Look it up, the Presidential national Directive announced on May 7,2007."

I havn't seen to many give "approval" to Bush for anything; media or other wise.
Posted by AJMarine1 at 12:56 PM : May 25, 2007

My respectful answer is:

If you stand by and do nothing while someone gets mugged, what is that? You see someone steal and say nothing, what is that?

If the main stream media prints what the White House approves and does nothing more, that to me is approval stated just as loudly as if they ran it in large print across their front pages. If the media did even a THIRD of the same in-depth political watchdog methodologies they used on Clinton, that would indicate some fairness in reporting but they don't. Main stream media has been a bin of tight shut clams for 7 years. Reporters asking gentle fluffy questions, taking White House PR and using it as news. None of this subservient gentle media coverage of the Bush Administratin suggests tacit approval to you?

Granted, there are dissentors and fringe blogging sites that are screaming. They don't have the national coverage, nor the credibility that the main news outlets do and it isn't helping.

With Cheney so mad at Bush cause he won't go into Iran there is no telling what the attack dog will do. Posted by starleo146 at 12:45 PM : May 25, 2007

Can you provide a link to that? I would like to read it.

Iran must be the bottleneck for moving oil out of Iraq. They are impeding something or else we wouldn't have this huge propoganda machine building up hatred against them.

Granted, they are messing around and feeding the PR fires, but like Iraq Yellow Cake, you wanna bet the "facts" are being helped along?

Cheney takes all, doesn't he? That man wants and wants and wants. He is a black hole that human life, country, family, and morals fall into and are never seen again. No wonder his heart keeps trying to jump out of his chest and run away.

It is gutwrenching to watch all this and not be able to even slow the horror, let alone stop it.

I believe September is the last straw as well I also see Republicans are going in that direction as well, and if this surge works, GOOD, I think all Americans want it to work, if it doesn't I feel Bush knows if it does not work he has to bring them home. I still do not like the story this morning that the marines have only received 10% of the equipment that they asked for it makes me mad as h##%that they can get equipment to Lebonan but our troops are still piecing together the best they can SHAME I wish we could get an audit of where this money is being spent. With Cheney so mad at Bush cause he won't go into Iran there is no telling what the attack dog will do.

7 years we have asked for accountablility from this administration. For 7 years the people who put this man-monster into office hasn't gotten it.

The media doesn't help which means they give their approval to Bush.
Any activist organizations aren't saying much, which means they aren't invested.
A globe full of people aren't opposing Bush which means they don't care.
Congress Democrats gave a little bowel movement but got spanked by the all the Republicans who are still All For Bush. Now that quivering bunch occupies themselves with everything but taking Bush to task on the war.
Not a squeak out of religious leaders on any of Bush's behaviors and war-making which means they approve of Bush.
Limbaugh and News Talk Radio are still going strong humping the GOP agenda.
There is no guarrantee that the next president won't be another Republican robot programmed by the party to continue the GOP agenda.

Letters to Congress? Letters to the media? Blogging on these articles? What has it done?

They have done it, dictatorship.

Those who voted against this blank check should continue to demand accountability from this President, colleagues in Congress, and the Iraqi government and continue to work to bring our troops home safely. This Administration deficiency and inadequacies of skill to influence other countries and participate credibly in the Diplomatic process has placed and unfair burden on our troops and they cannot continue to carry this alone. Secretary Rice should immediately resign and be replaced with a Statesman or women who can pick up some of this burden and energize the Department of State to pull their load, she is obviously ineffective and therefore not of benefit to our country or our troops, General Powell would have fought for the State Department to fulfill their role.

USADVISOR101,

"will one of you chicken hawks tell us what the new plan is because the surge has flopped, just like all the others."

How can you be in the middle of something and say it's "lost," Harry Reid and the war, and now the surge has "flopped" and we don't have all the troops there yet and the operation is still under way.

In September there will be a report given to Congress on what is happening. I have supported the war and will until September; then I will make a decision on what I will support.

selected portions of pre-war intelligence in which the CIA warned the administration of the risk and consequences of a conflict in the Middle East.
Posted by rsoxfan1123 at 11:40 AM : May 25, 2007

I'm sure they will be VERY selective portions. Warned WHO in the administration? Why didn't Tenet bring this up in his book or in interviews? Why was this not part of he 9/11 commission report?

If this turns out to be true, and the administration ignored or didn't plan for this contingency, then heads should roll from the top down. This would be inexcusible.

Rediscover our principles?

Some of us never compromised our principles, we are just waiting for a leader that will once more reflect principles. Of any kind.
