Comments on: Immigration Deal Faces Uncertain Future
Bipartisan Agreement Between White House And Senators Under Fire From Both Sides Of The Aisle
- rudy654 You mean like how the first English colonists did when they snuck in here, lied about wanting to be friends to the natives, cheated them out of their land...
You think the English were the first to invade, steal, and enslave natives here? You think all the English did was con the natives to gain land from the French and Spanish...how do you think the Spanish and the French got the land?
But to address your reply: we both know the illegals are not going back home. We both know they are costing us more than they are contributing, due to the exploitation of their labor by Americans wanting to save a dime. What ever. The government will do what the government always does...as it *** well pleases. But that will never change the fact that the illegals are here because they either lied, stole, or cheated to be here...and in many many cases ALL OF THE ABOVE. Poverty and hunger and unsafe conditions in their own country are reasons...not excuses to break laws. Integration into the American culture would have been very smart on their parts..but you see..they are not interested in integrating...they don't want to be Americans. We about to give amnesty to millions who couldn't care less about being American...they just want our money. With amnesty they will have all the freedom to continue stealing, lieing and cheating but without threat of deportation. - Reply to this comment
- In reading over the last few comments, it just seems so many are confused about so many aspects. First off, this proposal may or may not personally affect you, it does me; I have many loved ones I would like to see not scared anymore. Second, many think that they will have to pay money because of this bill, trillions or whatnot---well I would love to see that breakdown, b/c i am sure we are not forking out any additional money each week---hell i pay hundreds out of paycheck every two weeks---and that money is going to social services, retirement, etc. I understand there are others who benefit from certain services that i may or may not be eligible for & so what? I am not so self-centered that is a bill or a social program is not for me personally i should not support it. think about others, those that want the dream we were born into. There are many great people and if there were not so many people who are scared of everyone who doesn't look like them, then we would have a much better world; and country!!

- Bush Trashes Constitution, Few Notice, What else is the media hiding??
Here in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,if something does not appear in the New York Times or mentioned on Fox News, it did not exist. For instance, it is reported that our fearless leader believes the Constitution is little more than a worthless piece of paper. %u201CLast month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act,%u201D writes Doug Thompson for Capitol Hill Blue. %u201CGOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.%u201D Thompson reports the following exchange:
%u201CI don%u2019t give a *******,%u201D Bush retorted. %u201CI%u2019m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.%u201D
%u201CMr. President,%u201D one aide in the meeting said. %u201CThere is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.%u201D
%u201CStop throwing the Constitution in my face,%u201D Bush screamed back. %u201CIt%u2019s just a ******* piece of paper!%u201D

- The only thing we should be offering these people is the opportunity to migrate to America on our terms after they voluntarily return to their home country at their own expense. That would be the only amnesty I would support. Otherwise they are deported and banned from US for life. Freedom and Democracy isn't free or easy.

- These Illegal invaders need to go back to their own country and assemble and organize to fix the problems of their own country and stop bringing problems to our country.
Do you know that diseases that we spent so much effort and money to eradicate are now reappearing?
This problem of The illegal invaders if we submit to them and pardon them for disrespecting our laws and culture WILL cost us trillions and trillions of dollars, just so that the multinational corporations can have some cheap labor.
Are you willing to go to work and pay for this?
When we can simply send them back to their own country and get them focused on standing up to their own corrupt regimes, and we all benefit.
Not to mention the terrorist that this bill will pardon. Can you fathom pardoning your own enemy that is set out to destroy you?
And having to pay 2.4 trillions dollars to do it? - Reply to this comment
- This $2,400,000,000,000.00 (yes, trillion) bill that TED KENNEDY (along with others)has crafted to deal with the problem of illegal invaders is absurd.
You already pay an average of $18000 per illegal invader family per year today.
Why do they(Ted Kennedy and the other supporting senators) think we need to pay more?
We are borrowing $700,000,000,000.00(yes, billion)from foreign nations just to pay our bills this year.
How much are we going to have to borrow to pay just for this ONE bill once it is implemented?
Why does Ted Kennedy think that the problem is that we have not paid enough money yet. - Reply to this comment
- This is the question you have to ask yourself.
Are we a nation of laws or are we a nation of anarchy(lawlessness)?
I do beleive people will agree that we are a nation of laws.
So, If we are a nation of laws and we pay our government to enforce our laws and they stop ENFORCING our laws, I say we stop PAYING them to enforce our laws.
I am not willing to pay them for something they are not doing.
Our government has become IMO very arrogant.
I believe the quickest way to deflate that arrogance is to take away that which they beleive
gives them the power to be arrogant. - Reply to this comment
- Also - Why does this proposal have no stipulation of penalty for failure of illegal aliens to register with the United States Selective Services (draft)? Every illegal alien male should be fined and penalized accordingly for failure to register for the U.S. draft if he lived in the USA between 18 and 25 years of age. The fine and penalty should be in addition to any other fines and penalties imposed.
If illegal aliens want "rights" then they should have the right to comply with the very same laws legal immigrants and legal U.S. citizens comply with, and should have the right to be subjected to exactly the same punishments for violating any and all laws.
The United States Selective Services:
"All male U.S. citizens, and male aliens (including ILLEGAL Aliens) living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.
The maximum penalty for failing to register with Selective Service is a $250,000 fine and up to five years in prison.
The obligation of a man to register is imposed by the Military Selective Service Act. The Act establishes and governs the operations of the Selective Service System." - Reply to this comment
- I would like to know why Bush had the provision for illegal aliens to pay past owed taxes REMOVED from this "Immigration Deal".
Legal U.S. citizens and legal immigrants are subject to penalites for income tax evasion, if illegal aliens get the "rights" they are demanding, why shouldn't they have the right to the very same penalties which citizens are subject to?
Every illegal alien who applies for legal status under any such "Immigration Deal" should be fined, and penalized accordingly for working in the U.S.A. illegally, for cash (income tax evasion), or by use of a stolen social security number (a FELONY, for which they can be fined $250,000.00, and put in federal prison for 25 years), if they have not been using a ITIN number. Let any who apply for legalization and use records showing they worked illegally and evaded U.S. taxes, be fined and jailed accordingly (just as U.S. citizens are when they commit the same crimes), before they are granted legal status.
Tax Evasion is generally defined as any act designed to defraud the IRS.
There is no time limit on when the IRS can audit you.
Punishments for tax evasion can be harsh, including:
Fines as much as $250,000 for individuals.
A 75% civil penalty.
Criminal charges, including imprisonment of up to 3 years. - Reply to this comment
- I don't believe many of the illegals will step up and take the offer. First of all, they are scared to death of authority figures, and second, they are eligible for more benefits by not working while staying under the radar.

- realpatriot1......Your name should be unpatriot1.....People aren't haters just because their country is being invaded, blighted, desrespected, culturally destroyed, falling into multiligualism, and approaching lawlessnes and all at the hands of our elected officials who care more about non-English speaking hordes of entitlement seeking thieves than the citizens who support thisw country with their hard work and heavy tax burdens. You are a disagrace to America.

- realpatriot1: I hope you aren't suggesting what it sounds like you are suggesting? That we welcome every illegal alien who comes over the border in the dead of night with open arms! Why don't we just give them a home, a job and free health care while we are at it? While we are at it why don't we invite every terrorist on the planet into our country and provide them a safe haven? You conveniently forget they are breaking the law! When these people come into the country we have no idea what there motive's are for coming here. Every other country on the planet has punishment for people who sneak into their country. But, you have the gall to suggest any punishment for them is 'hate measures'! But, I will have to agree with you on one thing! None of the proposed ideas are going to work and law makers know it! The only way to stop illegal immigration is to levy heavy fines on those employers who hire undocumented workers. It's the only thing that will ever work. We all know George Bush isn't going to make his buddies pay hefty fines for hiring them! All he wants to do is break the middle class to where it is nothing. All that's left in the country are rich and poor!

- How will we know when the cutoff happens? How do you seal the border and say anyone before this date qualifies for the new package - everyone after this date is out of luck?
The answer is, you won't and you can't. That steady stream of human poverty, misery and illiteracy will simply continue to stream across the border, expecting to find the land of milk and honey and medical benefits.
Me - I'm taking Spanish lessons. I want to know what they are saying to eachother in the grocery line.
By the way, how ever did Cubans get an agreement that allows them to remain in the US if they can put one toe in this country? - Reply to this comment

- RandalDS has read the article. The rest of you have not.
The proposal does include punishment for those who broke the law, including a $5,000 fine, deportation for 1 year for those in the geuest worker program, and potential separartion of family members. In order to obtain enough Republican support they loaded it up with punitive measures to try to please hateful *** like you all.
This bill is so loaded up with punishment to please the haters that it won't work any better than the broken system we have now. Most people will gladly work to pay the $5,000 fine but won't accept having their families split up and will have the strong incentive to come illegally and no fence will keep them out. If people are willing to suffocate in trucks and die of thirst in the desert, they'll still find a way to get here. - Reply to this comment
- Perhaps I've lived too long. When our elected officials care more about those who break our country's laws than those who abide by them. We have laws to solve this problem, but fail to enforce them. The proposed bill will not solve the problem, but will impose a huge drain on our economy and our culture. If our government rewards those who ignore our laws, perhaps we should choose which laws we as a people will ignore. I am not a big fan of federal withholding, maybe I should ignore paying my taxes. Just a thought.
