Well Susan, that's the way that you think it SHOULD be. But that's NOT the way that it is. Our President broke no law/s. He knows this is true and the Dems know this is true.

Here's something more that is true, "Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is an absolute genius at oration and debate. The people supporting the "witch hunt" can't touch him and this is why they keep asking the same questions over and over--how many different ways can someone ask the same question about who put those lawyers names on the list?

Gonzales and Bush CAN fire them for political reasons. But it's called obstruction of justice, and they CAN and SHOULD be impeached for it!


And any true American SHOULD be outraged that justice is being turned into a partisan game where Republican donors can have the prosecutor fired, and a prosecutor who refuses to take a false and non-existient case against Democratic interests is fired.


It's so sad what the Republican party has become.

Nixon believed that. The President COULD hire people to break into rivals headquarters and steal documents. The President COULD try to prevent his plans from being exposed by corrupting the justice department.

And Congress COULD impeach him for it, because even though he COULD, he SHOULD NOT!

The President believed that he SHOULD....HE CAN and he did. If you don't believe that he SHOULD, that's your problem! As I said before, Uncle_James, the reason these senior people have not shown up - is, in a word, politics. To be specific, Republicans. What you propose is what the Democrats want. So far, the fight put up by the Republicans and Bush have prevented them from issuing the subpeonas that they have already drawn up and approved.

However - the idea that 'senior people' just randomly decide to fire a bunch of extremely competent U.S. Attorneys, on the pretext, proven false, of performance issues, without their boss's (Gonzales) approval or involvement, and those U.S. Attorneys just by pure chance happen to be ones that are involved in cases that Republicans wish were not happening - yeah, you don't believe in the Easter bunny, do you?



Again and again - the Justice department is not a wing of the Republican party just because a Republican is in office. It is not allowed to be! There are some people there appointed by Bush, but also confirmed by Congress - they are expected and required to be non-partisan in executing justice. How can you think anything else is remotely acceptable?

Every President, yes yes Clinton too, fires nearly all USAttys AT THE START OF THEIR TERM. Please note, Dubya did this too.

What is unprecedented is firing MORE OF THEM midterm, for completely bogus reasons to stack the office with political sycophants. THAT Clinton did NOT do.

It's exceedingly difficult to be gentle in this open and informal contention of words. Mr. Gonzales has said that these particular people ARE the senior officials who put the names of the 8 (or 9, lol) attorneys on the list so that those attorneys could be replaced.

Does anyone know why these senior officials at the DOJ have not received a subpoena? What law/s protect them from being required to appear before the House and Senate? Surely, there must be some law/s protecting them, otherwise many arrests would have already been made.

Who are the senior officials at the United States Justice Department? Somebody knows who they are! Somebody needs to issue a writ commanding these persons who are designated in it to appear in court under a penalty for failure. If someone can't do this, then dismiss this entire feeble, ridiculous imitation of justice and wish Mr. Gonzales a "Good Day"!

When the Democrats started "fishing", Gonzalez claimed that Bush was not in the loop. Now that he's been presented with evidence to the contrary his memory is back.

The Big Fish is on the hook and about to be reeled in! Impeachment anyone?

Tons of story changes, we've found out that entry level prosecutors were being hired on partisan grounds - which is quite explicitly illegal, one more good prosecutor found to be fired for political reasons - we're several chapters in, and moving towards the conclusion. Goodling will be an interesting witness, once she gets immunity to testify to the truth. Amazing how a faked memory loss gets Republicans so forgetful and forgiving.

All the evidence is piling up to show that obviously the 'Justice' department under Bush has been subverted into being a political branch, and at the very least, Gonzales should be impeached, if Bush is not willing to do the right thing and fire him.

As to the investigation - Congress can subpeona - they're just being nice and letting people come in willingly now.


Again - prosecutors using your political affiliation and past donation history to the party in power to determine whether or not, and how strongly to prosecute you - that belongs in, and will remain in 3rd world dictatorships - we don't want it here!

Best most obvious thing to do with Gonzales types is to throw them in Gitmo and turn the tables on them. Let's see what a few hours of torture would help him remember. Being a Republican, (read that as being a draft dodging coward), he'd probably crack in minutes - not hours.
