GOP Moderates? You mean there are some of those left? After six years of "Stay the course" ruin and not a word of opposition inside the GOP, it appears they have come back to life.... Where were these so-called "moderates" inside the GOP?

Yes. Literally. heads buried Deeeeeeep inside the GOP elephant's ***. It is probably safe, warm and cosy in there---perfect place to hide from all terrorists but the best news is--no matter how bad each neo con moderates record 'stinks' they can never be outed--because in the collective ***, the elephant butt outstinks their individual ones--so nobody notices. lmao.

Thank God I never voted for Bush. Proud to say it then and now. Not in 2000, not in 2004. And as I told my Congressmen (Roberts and Browback) there is a very good chance I will never vote for a Republican before the year 2028, regardless of who they run. That party is so irresponsible and performed such a derilection of duty these past 7 years, that they should be outlawed.

All of these arguments to the how's and why's to our problems in the middle east remind me of a WW2 problem that the Swiss people endured. Though they as a neutral country who did some trading with the Nazis for coal as they have no natural resources, angered our state department by doing that. Does this sound familiar to our current "self-inflicted" problem of not being self sufficient in energy productivity? Our nation has strayed so far from its neutral stance in international contests over 100 years ago that we as a people and our leaders have "zilcho" political, social, and economic roots to keep us on our on land. Why, ever since our constitution was hammered out, both parties have went their own way while heralding their loyalty to it.For example: Breaking treaties/destroying the native-american indians, perpetuation of slavery for a time, etc.

We have no plans to take Iraq. we are there to get rid of genocide and let them statr fresh. You are so short minded its sad.

LMAO. Truly a priceless observation. The realtives and friends of the 650,000 to over a million that have died since our invasion of Iraq--might want to differ with you on that.

If you ever run out of wire hangers to make ersatz halos with, just let us know. There are no saviours for this war, there are no halos on American heads. We are the cause of what has happened--and no matter what we do--we cannot change the fact that we CHOSE to do this and all who have died--did so because of our choice for them--and they had NO choice in the matter.

When Life Long Military Men such as the ones in this story come out and tell us we need to do something, we'd damned better listen. To do otherwise is to ignore warnings from people who's BUSINESS it was to defend this nation. I know some of you in the Radical Right and the Religious Reich thing "God" put Bush where he is. If that is so, they God is telling us we should NOT elect people based on RELIGION. After all isn't that what the Terrorist want as well?

Toldyouso21 we went into Iraq not just because we thought there were WMDs but because this man was committing genicide Saddam was prsonally responsible for the death of over 2.5 million people. That's why. So stop blaming the US for doing the right thing beacuase things have gotten sticky. We are the moral police and it is our moral obligation to rid the world of these kind of murderous dictators. And we didn't attack nations to take it over. We have no plans to take Iraq. we are there to get rid of genocide and let them statr fresh. You are so short minded its sad.

WE had NO legal authority aside from the UN Resolution on WMD's to invade Iraq. To pretend otherwise is to ignore the FACT that we along with all our Allies agreed to allow him to stay after the Gulf War. The REASON we agreed to let him stay, as stated by the Bush 1 Administration is because they were afraid what has happened would happen if he was just removed. Let's try to be American here and stop defending the horrific mess, LIES to this nation and our allies and the TERRIBLE mess that is left. Calling this "sticky" is completely out of touch with reality. We have NO right MORAL or otherwise to "Give" people in other nations any Government! This from a Combat Vet of Vietnam.

anyone see the movie "bewitched"? Why are so many neo cons like Mrs. Kravitz--always minding everyone else's business but their own--always thinking they know what is best for the world--and that they have the right to force others to fight or die for what neo cons believe. Talk about busybodies. Extremely dangerous, ill informed, idealistic, amoral, busybodies.

CAN WE START KILLING ALL THE FASCIST NAZI ISLAMIC MUSLIMS NOW???

if it is ok for fascist nazi islamic muslims to kill all non muslims everywhere.... is it ok for the non muslims to kill all fascist nazi islamic muslims???

Wouldn't killing 5.1 BILLION people (the number of non muslims in the world) be the very definition of barbarism???
Or is it fascist nazi islam%u2019s way of solving global warming???

Switching Sides: Inside The Enemy Camp

But then in 2000, well before his arrest, something happened which would make Abas question everything he believed in: a fatwa, a religious edict, was issued by Osama bin Laden.

"It should be understood that killing Americans and Jews anywhere found are the highest act of worship and the highest form of good deeds in the eyes of Allah," Simon quotes bin Laden.

Abas and his fellow commanders were ordered to read the fatwa to their men and make sure they carried it out. The others obeyed, but Abas refused. It was his moment of truth. He firmly believed that jihad was to be fought only on the battlefield in defense of Islam; he had always been taught that the killing of civilians had nothing to do with holy war and that it was forbidden.

The fatwa justified killing non-Muslim civilians everywhere.

lars008: how has this war made America safer? Just yesterday police arrested members of a terrorist cell planning to attack Fort Dix in New Jersey. It seems plain to me that the Iraq war has not prevented terrorists from crossing the ocean and trying to attack us here. THank God that some Homeland security measures have been enacted, but many more need to be emplaced that do not have money available because of the hundreds of billions we've spent on Iraq! Meanwhile, Al Queda has been off the hook mostly, Bin Laden is still at large, Afghanistan is getting trashed, and our president will not even consider changes in his military or diplomatic approach. WHERE IS THE SUPPOSED 'PROGRESS' IN IRAQ, IS IT NOT JUST BUSH'S EGO THAT KEEPS US WHERE WE ARE THERE?
