- We must all remember that this is Bush/Cheney's private war and we have to play by their rules. The decider calls the shots whether we like it or not. To hell with what the American people think. There is something rotten in Denmark when a handfull of people can override the majority opinion even if one of them is president. Hopefully after the elections in 2008 there will be only memories of a Republican Party.

- Bush refuses any measure which states the obvious - that we will not prevail in Iraq. His mindset appears to be "if we just refuse to admit we're losing, then we're not losing".
He is hoping against hope, and history, that some miraculous event will keep him from being tagged a moron by history for this boondoggle.
As in Afghanistan, where legislators have passed a measure calling for negotiations with the Taleban after 5 1/2 years of being unable to stop their recruitment and assaults, so will go Iraq.
And Bush will be tagged with trying to conquer both countries with defective strategies and wasting a ridiculous amount of American warriors and treasure in the process.
Merriam-Webster defines "boondoggle" as: a wasteful or impractical project or activity often involving graft.
There is no better term to describe Bush's invasion/occupation of Iraq, and history will view it so regardless of Bush's stubborn resistance to that fact. - Reply to this comment

Another bit of neocon "spin". The war in Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terrorism of for American freedoms. That war is being fought in Afghanistan where their Taliban govt protected the Al Qaeda forces which did attack our country on 9/11 when George W Bush was asleep at the wheel.
Like me, I urge you to contact your Senators and Representatives to let them know just how bad you feel this Iraq war of illegal aggression is. We can see that even the Republicans are now getting the message.

- The time has come for Real Republican's to stand up here. There must be something done here because we already know in our hearts that what these Generals are telling us is true. Our Troops are extended to the breaking point with 3 or 4 tours in Combat and we already know the price of this insanity is going to harm our kids for generations to come. This is a very uncertain world we live in but one thing is certain, we must live in it. We can not take the southern attitude of living in this world and we can not act like Bush has done. We have NO right to force our form of Government on these people and we have no right to being THEIR Police Force. It's rediculous and it's a losing effort.
