Comments on: Hillary Seeks To End War Authorization
Clinton, With Sen. Robert Byrd, To Push Bill Requiring President To Get War Reauthorization From Congress
- realpatriot1 -it's also about not allowing our country to be run economically and morally into the ground by irrepsonsible, corrupt greedy maggots that care more about their overseas investments than the lives of our soldiers.

- I don't know why the Republicans feel that it can only be their way. Did they think they were entitled to some sort of permanent majority? That half the country would continue to remain silenced? It's time George Bush and the Republicans realize there are two sides to government and the options are to agree or compromise. The option of "my way or the highway" is no longer there. You misunderstand the situation. The Republicans are hamstrung. Those who go against Bush and have a Republican core as a base--get in serious trouble. Most Republicans in Congress are employed by the Republican base--NOT Dems or Libs--they redistricted that way. Now, even if they wanted to, they cannot take a stand against Bush--because their EMPLOYERS love Bush and believe in his war.
The few Repubs who buck Bush have primarily Democratic or mixed bases so they have to NOT support Bush. It is really all about Job Security and since the majority of Americans do not determine the elections in Republican districts--Repubs can keep this going to the end. If they had honor, they would vote to impeach Bush and take the loss in office for the sake of the country--but then again, if the Democrats had honor, they would vote to impeach Bush or defund the war--and let the chips fall as they may.
for many in both parties--pleasing their base means more than the truth, justice--or Iraqi and American lives--this is just a sad fact. - Reply to this comment
- NYCKATE & rsoxfan1123,
As someone a bit older who has been following politics since JFK, let me offer a little friendly and hopefully constructive advice.
The rancor and venom being spewed on this website and over this war is nothing compared to the emotions during Vietnam, on both sides.
People have doubted xsoldier's claim of being spit on because he was in uniform. Don't doubt it, it happened plenty. It happened to me when I was wearing an ROTC uniform. That animosity carried ovr and has infected our politics like a plague ever since.
I was also a college student opposed to the war and felt the target on my back there too.
The 27% you refer to aren't are enemies, even if they think we're theirs.
We all think we love America, but you can't love America without loving Americans.
Let's all try to show a littile more respect and civilty and realize it's not about changing anyone, it's about surviving together. - Reply to this comment
- toldyouso21-but bush doesn't need to evolve to survive. He simply needs to stay the course until the next president takes over and he vanishes to the crawford ranch with no worries.

- We're screwed no matter who gets elected. Hillary flip flops so often it's a miracle that she can remember what she said last.

Right--I'd rather have a person that can change their mind, than one locked into lies and too proud or self serving to ever regroup, admit it and move on. That is why we are in a war we KNOW was not based on why we went in--because Bush learned as a kid--stick with the lie--no matter what, never give in and never admit anything different--liars just like him, will admire that trait and see it as a strength when really it is a grave weakness. it is not weak to be wrong--it is weak to continue down a wrong path and to fear a change in course. Evolution of the species is predicated upon change and adaptation NOT staying the same and toughing it out. Just look at dinosaurs--only the ones who evolved into birds still exist--but the others are long gone--they could not change fast enough. - Reply to this comment
- NYCKATE-Infidel_US is just party faithful. Notice he disappeared when I said that about Bush going after education and his wife's job. He knows it but it is hard for a leopard to change its spots. I still think he should come over from the dark side. There may yet be hope.

- rsoxfan1123 - it is completely baffling that today there are those like infidel_US who are still much more upset that Clinton 'committed' an illice sexual act in the white house than they are about all the terrifying failures, lies and deceptions committed by Bush -- there will never be any redemption for the likes of infidel -- he's beyond help. Question is what the heck are we going to do with the 27%+/- of the population who are just like infidel?? I don't think Crawford Texas wants them!!

- Besides, I can be pretty immature too. There's nothing wrong with that...I am the only 42 year old I know that plays MLB videos games on my XBOX 360 and almost never admit it in real life. Politics is almost like a hobby to me, I have been read Time and Newsweek and follwing this stuff faithfully since Reagan.

They're basically like brainwashed zombies in a very real sense. - Reply to this comment
- kidlibrarian - perhaps one of the hardest things is to admit you were wrong - it must be even more difficult when people are losing their lives because of those who picked someone like George to run the greatest nation in the world... mature people have a hard enough time admitting mistakes - the immature neocon/bushies are like george - 13 year olds minds in the bodies of grown-ups - they are NEVER going to admit they were mistaken.
