Bill Would Add Attacks On Gays To Federal Hate Crimes Law; White House Threatens Veto
- Congress should pass laws requiring everyone to not only love everyone else, but to actively promote and support that love.
Jesus said "love your enemies," so Christians should be the first to embrace the idea that people should be forced, by law, to feed, clothe and shelter their enemies. While at the same time expressing their most profound love for the enemies they are required to support.
Perhaps Congress could also legislate proper hygiene while they are wasting their time trying to pass useless and unnecessary laws.
Criminalize people who stink!!!
And, then move on to ugliness...
These kinds of laws have no limits. - Reply to this comment
- By the logic some use when arguing against a hate crimes bill a person who kills some one in a car accident is no different than some one who plots a murder well in advance of the deed.
As a hate crime survivor I urge everyone to put an end to the release of criminals who will plot violence against persons based on ideas, life choices. Remember that freedom only works if everyone has it.

Bravo! Excellent analogy and right on point all the way! - Reply to this comment
- Muddy...or is it that you think some deserve less?

Ozi, all deserve it equally. That's now the intent, however, but you will insist otherwise. - Reply to this comment
- mudrose,
Who do you plan on beating up with your 1st and 14th amendment rights?
The people buying into this are victims in states that don't offer protections.
Oh, I didn't realize that all states don't have first and fourteenth amendment rights. Scuse me. - Reply to this comment

- mudrose,

The people buying into this are victims in states that don't offer protections. The Republicans are pretending as though all states have such laws. If they did those loving Christians from Kansas wouldn't be traveling the country to harass the families of vets at their funerals. Now we can put that trash in jail where they belong.
It's such a special privilege to not get your head split open. First they want to not get beat up, next thing they'll want to marry and buy insurance. It's time to draw the line America!
The only ideology being shoved down your throat is that people you don't like are being given their constitutional rights.
I think the Republicans were theowing up a smokescreen by trying to include the elderly and the military because I'm not aware of many cases where people are being attacked solely for being elderly or in the military, but I would have no problem including them. But of course, that's not what you all are talking about.
Don't worry, when it comes time to include Republicans under the hate crimes legislation we'll protect you. - Reply to this comment
- Criminalizing emotions is ridiculous.
"Hate crimes' laws" should be removed from the books.
Courts already have latitude in sentencing without adding unnecessary and irrational laws.
One man's hate is another man's love. And vice versa.
Congress should get out of the criminalizing emotions' business. - Reply to this comment
- Jeff Gannon (a.k.a. James Guckert)
Very bizarre! I Googled this and found thousands of hits. I went thru the first 5 pages of hits, and every one of them were liberal "conspiracy theory" websites. Some even suggested that the president may have had *** witht he guy.
That's just too far over the top. Sorry. If the info isn't on more MSM outlets, I discount it. The guy sounds like a real crack-pot. We already know there are too mnay of those running around lose. - Reply to this comment

Not so fast, that's not true! For example, if you are an illegal alien in the U.S. you can mass in great numbers and blackmail the U.S. into turning a crime into a legal right! :) - Reply to this comment

Well, I'm happy for you that you have figured it all out and found true enlightenment. Can I let you in on a secret?

- For those of you who do not understand what is going on here allow me to spell it out so we can all better understand. The term hate crime speaks to degree of motive. Some one who might be assaulted by another person at a flash point of anger is far different than some one who survives an assault at the hands of a planned and plotted attack.
Think about Murder. There are 4 degrees of Murder (correct me if I am wrong) Lowest being manslaughter and the highest being murder in the first degree. 1st degree Murder is plotted and generally punishable by life in jail or execution. Some one who kills some one in a car crash might be charged with manslaughter and some one who is guilty of a crime of passion-caught up in the heat of the moment-that would be murder in the second degree and one might serve 20 years and be released.
Now the person who plotted an evil deed, and premeditated a murder, is far more dangerous and no one would want them living next door.
By the logic some use when arguing against a hate crimes bill a person who kills some one in a car accident is no different than some one who plots a murder well in advance of the deed.

You seem to be having a problem with where *** run wild. Left or right aisle is not the problem. They can run anywhere they please - but to violate everyone else's rights to advance theirs is left wingnut demagoguery. Since you like this topic so much, why don't you just bend over and enjoy yourself while you're at it too. - Reply to this comment
