As for your other comments...you just don't get it because you don't want to! so be it!

You are totally irrelevant to me other than for entertainment value.
I'll let the readers decide for themselves who offered the more rational, coherent argument.
If voters are stupid enough to support politicians who attempt to criminalize emotions, they deserve the totalitarian government under which they will live.
Good luck with your "successful" law practice. - Reply to this comment

- With that reasoning why bother having laws at all?

You have the absolute right to demonstrate your illiteracy and ignorance for all the world to see. And, are doing so.
Obviously, you do not let facts interfere with or influence your opinions.
Based on your comments, you are too unfamiliar with the legal system to offer a rational opinion on the topic at hand.
And, based on your latest comment, totally ignored or did not comprehend my previous comment. - Reply to this comment
- I really don't get it why do any of you wing nuts care. If you don't commit a hate crime then you have nothing to worry about.
Oh wait I forgot that only works if you are a GOP member in any standing.
You wing nuts are going to keep it up till next year and you see that the swing voter is no longer listening to you then you will try to change but I really think we need to remove a few more of you wing nuts to make sure that you learn from this if that is possible.
You divided my country and now I am angry with what you have tried to force upon all of us. - Reply to this comment

You are a good person so for your own sake, don't post anything else here. Those that advocate the passage of this bill will insist your are guilty of a hate crime. LOL

Emotions are an essential part of our "freedoms."
We have the right to hate or love, as we see fit.
Everyone in the US has the absolute right to stand on a street corner (within certain limitations) and express his love or hatred for anyone or anything.
But, we do not have the right to harm others in the process. And, that is the limitation of the law. It is already unlawful in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and all US territories to threaten, assault or murder others. Motive is irrelevant except in the prosecution.
That's the way it is in a "free" society.
A society that attempts to criminalize or reward emotions is not a "free" society.
Nazis attempted to legislate emotions. Nazis used their "hate crimes' laws" to criminalize anyone who did not support the Nazi party. So your reference to Nazis is ironic. And, is irrelevant to the current topic. - Reply to this comment
- There is no god and I am not subject to the laws and rulings of a book of fairy tales from 2000 years ago. Believe what you will, but don't try to push it on me or to inflict it on my government. What IS real is the separation of church and state "as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end". Amen.

- Is it me, or has everyone forgotten about our Lord and Savior? A.K.A. GOD the creator of this world and everything in it. GOD gave us rules to live by and yet, only when we are faced with devastating circumstances do we seek him and his word. Well I got news for all of you: GOD is real and He is coming back as He promised and you will have to answer to Him. So think about your lives and the way that you are living them. If it's not according to GOD'S rules, then you are in danger because yes, He is coming to judge every single one of us.

- Three lies remain on earth which keep us from progressing as a people, and from getting closer to God: That men are superior to women, that whites are superior to all others, that it is wrong to fall in love with someone of your own gender.

Wish the unborn had the same rights, too. However, it is recognized that "man is endowed with certain unalienable rights by his creator..." but we rely on man to create rights and therefore man can take them away. Nothing makes us closer to God than to participate in his own creation. So hypocrisy abounds. - Reply to this comment

- Can you explain that to Ozi with a little "o"?
Posted by mudrose at 04:18 PM : May 03, 2007
I consider "hate crimes' laws" as ridiculous as the Bush administrations' "war on terror."
It is not possible to eliminate emotions or motives. We can, and do, punish those who cross the line based on their emotions, but trying to criminalize emotions is about as ridiculous as it can get.
As is fighting a war against a tactic. (as in the current "war on terrorism")
I can only post my viewpoints, it is beyond my ability to convince anyone of anything. They must make that choice of their own free will, or "emotions," if you will. - Reply to this comment
- Perhaps Congress could also legislate proper hygiene while they are wasting their time trying to pass useless and unnecessary laws.
Criminalize people who stink!!!
And, then move on to ugliness...
These kinds of laws have no limits.

- By the logic some use when arguing against a hate crimes bill a person who kills some one in a car accident is no different than some one who plots a murder well in advance of the deed.

You are clearly unfamiliar with the legal system.
As is anyone else who claims that threatening, assaulting or murdering people is a legal right unless we have special laws that address each specific motive of the assailant. - Reply to this comment
