8 Presidential Candidates Try To Distinguish Themselves In First Debate Of '08 Race
- I think you can respect both men and women. But clearly, xavier brown believes that anyone who respects women is wrong or hates men. Kindness, compassion, strength and charisma are qualities that any leader should have, man or woman. If you take some time to educate yourself on the candidates, and stop feeding into talking points, you will see that many of the Democratic candidates have these qualities. Some of the Republican candidates just promote fear and hatred. Remember, Democracy is based on an advesarial system. If there aren't 2 sides, it's tyrany. Many conservatives actually want to do away with democracy and replace it with an autocracy. Keep an open mind and listen to both sides. Remember that all candidates just want what they think is best for the country. You may not agree, but don't paint any as enemies of the state.

Actually, I wouldn't vote for her because of who she is married to.
For the same reason that I wouldn't have voted for George Bush Snr who was obviously married to a man (or a martian or *something*). - Reply to this comment

Re: "feelfree1 Gotta point. . Maybe Laura will run although I think that's not an option in the Neocon playbook."
How about a national emergency, followed by declaration of martial law. KBR (Halliburton) has been busy constructing huge "detention" facilities around the country. Is this possibility really out of the question?
Does anyone here really believe that the imprisonment, torture, &/or killing of ordinary people is of any consequence to the Bush regime? - Reply to this comment

Something to ponder next for time. Same question-what makes you think that the Bush regime will ever surrender power?

- I'm so tired of the NEOCON name calling and vitriolic arguments that result when their insults are taken seriously..
I've long suspected most of them say such rude inflammatory statements NOT because they actually believe the BS they're spouting but to either just liven up the board or to encourage dissent AGAINST BUSH which from what I've seen, actually is an extremely effective way to get people even angrier about George's illogical actions.
Whatever happened to Common Sense?
Personally I relish a good intelligent debate between differing viewpoints as long as it doesn't slide into the gutter. I've found it's not the political Party but the person that I look at. Of course the candidates I would LOVE to see and hear more of like Ron Paul on the Republican side and possibly Democrats like Biden or Dodd (although Gravel did make some amusing irreverent remarks) usually are the very people that those that control this type of thing will NEVER accept or promote.
Oh well at least I get to see some of them in the Pre-Primaries. - Reply to this comment

2-0 in presidential elections"
Actually, the Bush-puppet is 0 for 2, unless you consider vote fraud to be a legitimate tactic.

Re: "You mean the ones RESPONSIBLE for that GIANT SUCKING SOUND YOU MENTIONED?"
We supposedly live in a democratic republic, with a guaranteed right to vote (and to have it counted).
As we head into the 5th disgraceful year of the illegal war against Iraq, don't each of us have a share of responsibility, at some point? Wasn't this established at Nuremberg?
Do we already have the government that we deserve? - Reply to this comment
