Day 1,483 Iraq Conflict

Positive, Statesman?? Thousands of people have been killed; two more of our soldiers were killed today. Senator Mc Cain in his press conference viciously and falsely attacked the character of the Democrats in Congress accusing them of denying our soldiers, he was not proposing a path of compromise that would benefit this nation as a whole, that%u2019s not how a Statesman behaves his actions today do not deserves respect. Bush-Cheney are failed leaders and do not have the trust or confidence of the American people to further conduct this occupation, period.

There is never any winner in an openended war. It was thought we were the winner since Saddam gone, no WMD found and a democratic regime installed in Iraq.

We have no choise in the matter, we have to get our troops out of iraq. I mean what would happen
if we won.We would loose the election. We cant
let that happen, what do we care about the freedom of those people? After all we can straighten all that out after we win right?Above
all else we have to win the election. To save
our country from ruination at the hands of the republicans Right?

So, what ever happened to presenting something positive ?

Answer the question of what was wrong with the speech; instead of, "next Hitler", "Dont let the door hit you in the a*s", "now just go in your corner and cry", "Enjoy the Kool-aide!" - and on and on and ON. This just polarizes, folks. And it falls right into the lap of those that want to be career politicians in stead of statemen/women.

Think !!!

What makes someone a stateman/woman? Challenge the speaker if you think they are on the wrong track, but keep it POSITIVE.
Remember when we all said united we stand ? As certain as that was, it is also as certain that DIVIDED - we WILL fall.

Will it be better if we leave ? Or are we STUCK in a bad situation and need to make the best of it? Re-read the speech, tell us where he's wrong - but make it factual, not emotional. Then let's speak our minds to the Senator in a way that he will respect instead of ignor (you ignor those that are emotional or act like idiots - wouldn't you expect hium to ?)

That's McCain and Guiliani finished.
Posted by NYCKATE at 05:46 PM : Apr 11, 2007

McCain IS finished, those lies in Iraq pretty much did him in even if his war stance did not. For more that shows he is lying--go to YouTube and click on the video about McCain vs McCain.
I think Giulliani has a shot. Why? Because of his stance on Abortion and gay rights. The Republicans would back him if he won the primary, then a lot of the Independents would back him because he does not seem to be gung ho for the war and he seems like a moderate. I personally think Giuliani is a slvt, and a liar, but I am just one Independent voter out of millions. Many of us are uncomfortable supporting either a woman (especially Hilary) or a black at this juncture--the country does not appear to have matured enough to where either is truly a viable choice. Wish that this were not so--but it appears that it may be (witness the comments of Imus, Gingrich and the recent antics of the right in politics in Tennessee) There is still so much that can divide us, no matter how open minded we may be. My take is that Giuliani can win, but he will be held in check by an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress. to knock out Guiliani, he has to be stupid enough to totally support Bush in public.

mud, you've written some crazy stuff today, so you shouldn't be surprised at the reply. "the professors and george soros got to you first" - what? you seem to hate education, immigrants, health care, europe, anybody that's ever said anything negative about bush, or the military, or america, anybody that doesn't have a little american flag on their car antennae...and on and on. you sound like a nut, man. expect to get some c/r/a/p.

If there is any recklessness it was getting involved in a war in Iraq in the first place. Let's just get the troops home and the DIPSHITS that got us into this mess out of office!

" So, when you say the war is illegal, please preface that statement with "In my opinion...". Posted by mbcsmith at 05:04 PM : Apr 11, 2007

According to the UN the invasion of Iraq was an act of aggression against a sovereign nation without physical provocation and was ILLEGAL.

We recognize Bush and the neo cons don't believe that but would point out that Bush disputes it sooo much that last year he had Congress pass two laws granting him and others immunity from prosecution. 1. Immunity for war crimes to do with any aspect of the initiating, conducting and defense of the Iraq war 2. Immunity for the illegal wiretaps of Americans discovered in 2005.

Sort of odd that Bush would need immunity from events that he and others say are not crimes--don't you think? The fact is, the criminality is a matter of interpretation or parsing and justification. Depending on who controls the government, the acts could be construed and noble, just and necessary, or evil, with lies perpetrated by a ruthless and agenda driven criminal/political cabal and supported by their mindless sycophants. It all about perspective here in America. Elsewhere, the consensus is that is was illegal, but how does the world censure the biggest and most powerful bully of them all? LOL
