After he vetos the bill, they should just send the same one to him again and again and again until time runs out--then when he starts trying to blame them--say--but sir, we gave you the money and you kept throwing it back in our faces, we never stood between you and the money...YOU stood between You and the money.

%u201CThe bottom line is this: Congress' failure to fund our troops will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines,%u201D Bush said at American Legion Post 177. %u201COthers could see their loved ones headed back to war sooner than anticipated. This is unacceptable.%u201D

THE BOTTOM LINE Mr. President, is that if you veto the spending bill, the reason their loved ones can't return and the reason they did not get the money support will be YOU. ONE man, so full of himself that he stood in the way of his own military.

Congress is providing the funds. If you veto it, THEN YOU don't support the troops--you just use them.

Um Racer, you say Congress can cut funding? That is true, but they don't have the votes to overcome a filibuster or a veto. It would be worth doing, but only symbolic and trashed by the cons for being so.

Speaker Pelosi is correct. It is the role of Congress to hold the Executive branch accountable, and if necessary, hold it in check.

The U.S. presence in Iraq is only prolonging the violence. The U.S. has done all it can reasonably be expected to do militarily in Iraq. Bush is trying to use highly trained combat troops as policemen in the middle of a civil war. No, it is time to bring the troops home. The remainder of the issues in Iraq must be left to the Middle East region and to Iraq, itself.

And remember, Afghanistan is waiting.

So, the testosterone enhanced maneuvering is STILL getting in the way of the "people's business" is it?
How long do we have to listen to this "I'm top dog" garbage. Get over it George. You've GOT THE MONEY YOU WANT -IN FACT THEY GAVE YOU MORE THAN YOU WANT. Not only that but it's coming with a NONBINDING set of goals.
Since when did this President ever agree with a bill? Isn't it something like OVER 800 SIGNING STATEMENTS? That's more than every other president combined!
SIGN IT, STICK A SIGNING STATEMENT ON IT AND MOVE ON. If he hasn't noticed there's more scandals in his administration than sand on a beach now.
How's that move to Dubai going?

Close. It's his LAST gasp!! Powerful, but stupid people are as dangerous on the way down as they were on the rise to power.

The below quote is from the above story:
"Bush got an assist for his argument on Tuesday from Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who said he saw no need to set a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops."

WHO the heck is this guy to be telling us what to do. He is nothing. He and the Bush cons know it. That is why they can't stand to think withdrawal of US troops. That government would be gone pretty fast. That is the likely result when we leave, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years. And the Shia and Sunni will still fight it out as they are now.

al-Maliki should not be telling us how long our troops should be dying in Iraq. He needs to make the required concessions to the other parties and share the wealth fairly. Other issues need to be addressed like the Shia death squads.

The American people have spoken. Listen to what they said. Time to start coming home.

Ha Ha Ha!! Funny!!

My shrink-friend said that dlpracer and Timmy are the results of a "split personality." He's not sure which is which, but one of them hasn't grown up and the other is mean and vindictive.

Now there is little doubt that Sir Lies-A-Lot is the dumbest Nazi to ever walk on planet earth but this really takes the cake. This pathetic LOSER has a bill on his desk giving him every dollar he asked for but he won't sign it because the Congress say's his little play war ends at a certain time. He then say's he'll veto the bill and WILL NOT negotiate with congress on the issue but we are suppose to blame Congress because there will be no funding for the troops. I mean MAN you have to be one really serious Red Neck, a REALLY REALLY dumb one to buy that garbage. LOL

Republican Presidential candidates have had no problem with debates on any of the liberally-biased networks, who had an abundance of Democrat-pandering questions, and Republican-bashing questions. Fox would be at least as fair as the other networks in the past have been. What's the problem?

How do you defend Democrats from running away from yet-another fight?

Is this the kind of cowardice you want in your Democrat President?

Shameful.

"running away"? I just don't get what you mean here Sparky. The democrats are refusing to be involved with a BLANTANT FASCIST Organization. They are NOT refusing to debate or discuss any issues before this nation in any way! The REASON for that refusal is because those of us who carry the water, the ones who work very hard for the Organization, do not want them associated with or taking actions that would create an image that FASCISM is acceptable in this nation. I call that COURAGE with big capital letters. Sieg Heil Y'all.

White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino suggested that Bush has the upper hand because Democrats do not have votes to override his veto.

I wonder....
If they don't, then why all of Dubya's stern words and his offer to meet. If the president feels so safe in vetoing this bill, why is he posturing so hard.

Or is it, gasp...grandstanding?

Thank you Timmy for correcting my spelling, it isn't the greatest. I truly love what Democrats stand for and in defending my chosen party, my thoughts go faster than my fingers can type.

You sound very intelligent, just as your Dad says you are. I bet he is proud of you. I hope you continue to grow and learn and really reach out for knowledge. It is through knowledge that humans can work together to achieve great things. I hope you are always free in America to reach for great things. That is why I am a Democrat.

And you, Mr. dlpracer. The influence of parents on their children doesn't always affect the desired results. :)

dlpracer What kind of school does your son attend? I'd be asking all sorts of questions if the topics are all on Abnormal Psychology rather than what a normal 11 year old should be learning.
I occasionally make a typographical error myself but your syntax and grammar could use some serious cleaning up before you claim someone else's spelling is poor.

"But the White House insisted Bush was in no mood to negotiate"

It's a good thing the democrats saw this as just a Bush PR gimmick.

The decider is not in a mood to negotiate. He's King George the Chicken-Heart, he tells you what he wants and you obey him.

I hope the Democrats stick to their guns. The only way to clean up the wreakage from this train wreck is to first defeat the one rsponsible for it. I should put that in the plural, "ones" responsible because Cheney and Rove are definitely just as guilty, maybe more because it is fairly plain Bush has been the puppet with them as the puppeteers pulling the strings. I hold Cheney almost wholly responsible because I have a feeling he advised Bush right from the first to become a "wartime
president so as to have absolute powers as Commander-in-Chief. Why doesn't anyone else see this? Cheney is a rat in my book!
