- never met a southerner i liked.
southerners love to talk big and start wars.
southerners think whoever kills the most on the other side wins.
only thing is... killing is only part of war, the bigger part is negotiation and diplomacy.
this is where the southerners get stumped.
southerners know nothing of negotiation, diplomacy and tolerance.
the south knows nothing of idealism.
southerners know only force.
that's why the south has lost every war they ever started.
bush's iraq war will be no different.
ha,ha,ha.
rednecks, republican snakes, phony christian creeps...
nothing good comes out of the south! - Reply to this comment

truthword, the 2D fake cartoons are going to do them in. Everyone saw them. No matter if they know it, admit it, or believe it.
The psychological effect will be the reverse they expected.

- So, President Bush visited Walter Reed. WHY DIDN'T HE DO IT SOONER??? Of course he has no need for their services so it was forgotten. All he is doing by going to WR is for the photo op it presented and the fact that the news media would latch on to it and have it on the evening news. He was supposed to be there for three hours but stayed only two! He must have seen something that made him sorry he had come and it must have been the living quarters of the wounded troops. Let him experience what our wounded warriors have been going through and then, I bet, we will see improvements more then immediately.

Applied Military Research Question:
Through which media should persuasive video fear-inducing appeals be deployed?
Military information warfare research indicates that television news is the most effective channel for distributing psychological propaganda in support of military objectives.
Sociologists advise that compelling video messages must be crafted into the framework of the television news media.[26] The credible news frame defines the characteristics of believable news stories: reports must have subframes that are personalized, dramatized, fragmented, and normalized.[27] News media focus on a personalized actor subframe--individual leaders, spokespersons, exemplars of the political actions.[28] Media images convey a dramatized story subframe: beginnings, action style, plot lines and sub-plots, settings and scenery, rising and falling action, major and minor actors with major and minor motives, climax and anti-climax, and endings that close with a chorus (journalists, politicians, experts, the public, or all four) interpreting the moral lessons of the drama.
Please remember that you are reading military research, and not lessons for acting class or a school play. This applied military research is focusing on how to craft believable (although false) news stories and says that this propaganda must be depicted as television news.- Reply to this comment
- Applied Military Research: What Tools Work best for %u201CWinning CNN Wars%u201D?
Film or video messages are markedly effective (and preferred to less vivid media) in teaching factual knowledge, are accepted as accurate, and are not perceived as propaganda.
Emotional (fear-inducing) appeals are persuasive when they are truly frightful, suggest effective actions to reduce the fear-arousing threat, and the recipients believe that they are able to perform the suggested action.
Psychologists and Sociologists have been working for the military to teach PSYOP teams how to manipulate the media, how to mobilize public opinion, and how to craft and insert believable false messages into television news.

%u201CInvariably, the popular response to a President during an international crisis is favorable, regardless of the wisdom of the policies the President pursues.%u201D %u2026This counterintuitive movement of public attitudes%u2014backing the President when his policies may have been unwise or even unsuccessful%u2014is what intrigues public opinion researchers. - ummm....yeah, Bush raised defense spending the moment he took office 7 years ago. The Democrats are the ones who have been cutting defense spending for decades. So there is where you all should point the finger. So some moran can't manage a hospital and directs what money they do have elsewhere and this is Bush's fault? I love to read these posts, it's cheap entertainment.
'08 will come, the dem's will take office and we shall see what "leader" they set in the chair and how glorious our small world will be in Jan '09. I get jittery just thinking about it.

- Pre-September 11 Planning-- Phase One: Research and Rationale
Three topics were of great interest among military psychologists and PSYOP specialists before 9/11:
Understanding what factors generate public support for a war,
Learning how to use mass-media to create %u201Cblind hatred%u201D against an enemy, and
Discovering the most effective techniques for manipulating public opinion in favor of military action.
The stated goal of much of this research was to understand the best methods to manipulate the media and the general public in order to bring about a military deployment.
Here is an example of military research to determine the feasibility of media manipulation by the military:
The title of this paper, %u2018Manipulating the Media%u2019, is not a personal choice, but simply the working title that I was originally given.
The issue is whether the Western media, most obviously that of the United States, can be manipulated in order to bring about a military deployment; and if so, how this can be done.

- whatithink, WAKE UP to the real world. You don't have a clue. It's kind of like if the Democrats were to complain about the gas prices and no energy policy....WHAT did they do in the 20 years AFTER the Arab oil embargo of 1973 (you see, THEY had the majority in Congress and did NOTHING about it. The same about the medical treatment of our veterans. They had control of Congress for 40 years and did NOTHING to see that our veterans got proper medical treatment. Surely you don't think this problem JUST happened in the last few years? THAT'S why I said WAKE UP.

- Barbaraf4,
First he must apologize for lying about the need to go to Iraq. Then he can apologize that this lie has caused them to die or have no legs and arms.
Other post, I meant DOES NOT. - Reply to this comment
- BIGDADPATRIO,
Cutting defense spending GOES NOT mean that the soldiers have gotten s-c-r-e-w-e-d. There is A LOT of pork and waste in the military. In the case above, the SOLDIERS ARE GETTING S-C-R-E-W-E-D. - Reply to this comment
- Okay, this is a start. Next, he needs to go to Dover, Maryland, and help unload the coffins off of the airplanes. He can apologize for that too.

- At this point empty apologies are useless!! Get off your dead butt and do something about it..action not words will mean more to these soldiers who deserve the best not the slum hell they are at.
I work in a long term health care facility we get inspected by state officials all the time, because of the team we have we have always been on top of our inspections. Why did it go soo long and get soo bad???
Hopefully these soldiers will now get the care they deserve! - Reply to this comment
- Please, EVERY Democrat administration has CUT Defense spending since the 60'ies. Guess what is one of the first departments to get their $ cut when that happens? The Veterans Administration. The only friggin reason there is such an "outrage" all of a sudden is because of the political climate. The Democrats cry "crocadile (sorry, my spelling is not correct) tears for our veterans. The PROOF is in their inaction over the last 40 years.

- Let's just make a list of everything that has happened under Bush's watch and have him say he is sorry all together.

- "it took some time to clear enough room on the president's schedule to spend more than three hours with patients and staff at Walter Reed, to find out from them what more needs to be done."
OK, seriously, asking the patients 'what more needs to be done' is ridiculous. What are they going to say, "I'd like better desserts"? I'd prefer the President to spend three more hours with people at the top end who seem to be better at funneling cash away from our wounded heroes, than healing them. - Reply to this comment
